Does the Honda VTEC also stay on normal cam if the oil temp is cool?

Unfortunatly no, it only goes off coolant temperature.... so even when the temp gauge has risen to the normal temp its best waiting a bit longer to VTEC.

Yep. I owned a honda accord type r... they just lack the low down torque. ;)

Thye ant got **** till the vtec

The new iVTEC in the CTR has quite a bit more off cam than previous VTEC engines.

The S2000 uses a bit of oil aswell. Approx half a litre in the last 1k miles or so. Was somewhat disconcerning coming from the Octy which never used a drop.... Best advice is to check the oil levels weekly and top up if necessary. From what I can gather oil consumption is proportional to VTEC activity.

On the S2000 the engine will not enter VTEC until there are 3 lights on the temp gauge but I've never tried it as I always leave the engine warm up properly before hooning it :)

Dont go there

can i throw my can in please?

fab vrs, i used to play alot with a bloke from my work (easy!!!) in his civic type R

by no means could i beat him or keep up with him ...... but at very certain speeds i could out accel, granted only for about 10mph but this was my boost area and his wasnt pure chance of timeing i guess.

when i spoke to him after and told him it was a diesel his face dropped hehehe and he admited he had to keep it in the V range just to get the power.

Because his ego is getting in the way of his eyes;)

The problem is there are a tiny bunch of car owners in here that do exaggerate what they did on the daily drive, but when someone is telling the truth they think your one of the people that like to exxagerate things.

Yeh I kinna gathered that. :)

It happened,

But I have no proof,

So lets just leave it at that. :)

Maybe you should find a friend with a 325i and try again. At least that way you'll know the other party is racing. This would also fully justify the statement "Will eat Honda Accord Type R and BMW 325 for breakfast" rather than what could have been a somewhat one-sided encounter.

But at the end of the day, does it really matter? You're in a 4 cylinder Skoda Fabia and he's in a 6 cylinder BMW. You will probably both prefer your car to the others, so everything is fine and happy. Horses for courses.

I dont have any friends with a 325 lol.

It was pritty dam obvious that he was trying because he must ahve got up to about 140 on the straight and was blatently chucking it around the bends (the car was leaning quite a bit)....

Indeed it does not matter, but I dont' like being called a lier thats all :)

Thirdplace -its such a shame I dotn live in Bicester any more, could have had a nice Sunday morning drive down that B road from Chinnor to Bicester Via. Thame. ;)

Should of met up with you this weekend just gone then ;)

It makes me laugh, when I was sat behind the wheel of a 325 I had absolutely no urges to 'race' anyone, and I drive my MR2 quite briskly.

If I had a 2.0 Fabia trying to race me whilst in a 325, 1. I don't think I'd even notice it trying to race me, 2. If I did realise his/hers intentions I'd chuckle and carry on my merry way.

2.0 fabia are the new kings of the road.

They are the AMG / Hartge/ Oettinger / Alpina / Bugatti / Rolls Royce turbine engine of the skoda world. Long live the king.
