hi guys new on here and need a bit of help with advise from octy owners...

been to see this, its absolutely spotless bodywise and looks the doggs but what am wondering about is the milage... its an ex-company car, serviced as such by one garage at every interval due and has had best of care..(im led to believe) thing is it has 83,000 miles on its clock and im wondering what else i need to check when i go back apart from if the cambelt has been done.

cheers in advance! (wether i get this one or not ill be buying an octy vrs in the near future so no immediate rush if the turbo is likely to let go soon ill leave it...esp considering it'll be off for remapping and an induction kit and dumpvalve the weekend i buy it.):D

How about an 05 in black with 30k for 9.5k?

A chap called patrick has one for sale.

v.tempting but can only afford

Ah well...

I'd imagine 83k would be ok on that motor, the car looks very clean in the advert.

I dunno if 6695 is a good/bad/ok price though. Try the autotrader and parkers used prices, pick the lowest of the two and offer that to them. I'd try offering 5700 to them to start with and aim to take it away for 6200.

Coil packs. Do a search on coil packs in the Octy forum

will do cheers, have no intention of taking it for more than £6000 so we'll see! ill be trading in a noss'd focus as a px so we'll see how we do.

any further advice guys?????

Get the NOS kit off the Focus and try and make it look like its not been modded (if this is possible, I know nowt about NOS). You'll get more in PX for it IMHO ;)

its a wolf in sheeps clothing anyway. cant be assed removing it, ill jus take out the bottle an brackets as the rest is hidden.

Looks lovely and well cared for.

Mileage isnt a problem on these...Its merely bedding in!!!

Go buy yourself some fun...with a touch of practicality

cheers fella, am 22 and have been rallying since i was 15 so it wont have too easy a life with me at the helm, but on the other hand it will be very well looked after if i get it..(never thrashed cold etc)

No worries....I was only a couple of years older when I had mine.

I kept it immaculate...butit still got a good thrash in the right places, but these just lap it up andbeg for more:cool:

are they xenon lights too???

Only if they've been uprated. Mine didnt have them on..dont think they were standard

Nope, not xenon. Those outer lights that look like xenon are projector foglights. The dipped/main beams are in the inner part of the light close to the rad grill.

cheers, that was confusing me, so what else goes on em at 80-100k miles???

>check cam belt

>check coil pack

>how often to turbo's go???

>clutch??? and are they expensive to do??

>other belts?

...also how much to tax it for the year???

sorry if im been a bit dopey, please bear with me.:D

Check cambelt, yep do that one. The initial recommended period of 120K miles is now much reduced. This applies to all cars, and is 4 years/80K IIRC.

A 53 reg car will hopefully be on the new version of the coilpacks by now, especially a higher mileage example.

Turbo should last well beyond 100K if the car has been looked after.

Clutch dont know, but the killer is the tax. IIRC the vRS is £190 for 12 months tax.

to be fair thats not too bad, im paying 150 a year on my focus so im not completely shocked. something to think about later i hope as it'll be taxed when i get it...

to be honest to get what i want from this guy to convince me to buy it i think im gonna have to kidnapp any kids/pets he's got!

"right mista, i want that skoda out there for 6grand taking my focus for 3600 and i want you to tax it and i want the cambelt doing...oh and a warrenty!"

"f### off!!!"

lol.

Just to confirm, tax is £190... just paid mine :)

check skoda website for price comparison ..... dont seem too harsh

Might be worth asking for a set of Octy VRS mats as it looks like they're missing and check the ARB bushes and links.

  • Author

what am i looking for? they check the bushes on the suspension when it has an MOT dont they?

if mot legit :) .... dont mean to sound harsh but never trust a trader.... just a rule of thumb to stick by. Not saying all are like this just play it safe. If unsure get second opinion ... rac and aa do vehicle inspection for nominal fee

went to see it, wouldnt do the cambelt and its done 90k miles the bugger!...but i have a backup!!!.... Autotrader - SKODA Octavia 1.8T RS

what you guys reckon??

That's very low milage for its age, barely run in yet! It would still need a cambelt change though as it is 4 years old.

gutted, its jus been sold(finance pending) next time i see one im not posting it on here:mad:
