If you can't beat us, join us :D

Beep beep beep - Desk PC beep beep AMD Duron Beep beep my (New!) laptop Core Duo 1.76 Beep Beep Sciencebire AMD Turion 64 Beep Beep.

All do their respective jobs fine (i.e. don't tax the Duron) but I have to say, the core duo does what it says on the tin - multitasking doesn't affect the apparent speed at which it does things.

Im about to recieve some core2duo goodness in the form of a MacBookPro so ill be a happy chappy :D

I've been looking at the MacBook Pro's (don't like the macbook) they're sweet!..

Only thing putting me off is the size of it...

Looks like I'll be using my 12" iBook for awhile yet.. :)

Iv got a core2duo 6300 running at 3.3ghz :o

Very nice chips to overclock!!

and at just over £100 you cant go wrong!!

I've heard good reports all round about these core2duo cpu's.. even a mate of mine a die hard AMD fan is looking to upgrade to one :)

Home:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz (Macbook)

AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Barton Core - Overclocked to 3200+ (Shuttle XPC)

Work:

Intel Core Duo 1.86Ghz (IBM Thinkpad X60)

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.13Ghz (HP DC7700)

its arrived so im sporting a 2.33Ghz core2duo MacBook Pro

Nice bit of kit Matt!

Oh yes. It made the powerbok it replaced look primative though lol

What, nicking some of Intel's architecture design ideas? Surely not, that's never been done before ;)

Steve

I work for a company who a few years ago won $150 million, followed by $300 million then $225 million from Intel for breach of copyright and antitrust actions - some of our superpipelining design went into the original Pentium. Nothing changes :)

Cool.. :cool::thumbup:

I just wish they made a 12" version of the MacBook Pro :)

i dont :D i have to work on the bloody things lol

They're soo much easier to carry about and use anywhere though...

Looks like I'll just have to upgrade the HD in my iBook to tide me by for abit longer...

Why is it you dislike the std MacBook? If you are happy with your iBook but want something similar sized but faster, then a MacBook would seem an ideal solution.

What am I missing?

I was expecting someone to ask this and it's a fair question so here goes... :)

Mainly I think the MacBook looks quite ugly...

I don't like the fact it has an Intel graphics chip, the keyboard looks like it's come straight from a kids toy and IMO is a bad design. I'm sure it's just me(and I'm probably wrong) but it looks a fair bit bigger than my current iBook either way I'm sure it wont fit in my Crumpler laptop bag... :thumbdwn:

I guess I'm just old skool but I prefer the look of the iBook/Powerbook to the MacBook...

And yes I know I'm a fussy bugger.. :P

Fussy Bugger ;)

I love my Macbook.

2 pc's at home with 2.4ghz c2d's here, after about 4 years exclusively buying AMD's. They seem to do all they claim to do.

Last night I was playing a game alt tabbed out to browse around on the net got bored started up another game was playing for a bit when I suddenly remembered I had another game playing in the background - the PC was running two games and internet explorer at once no slow down at all, made me chuckle a bit :D

Fussy Bugger ;)

I love my Macbook.

Good, I've doubt they're good machines... sadly they don't meet my taste/requirements :(

I'm sure something will come along... till then a new 100Gb 7200rpm HD will have to do :D
