Ouch! Hope you are ok, sorry about the car.

Typical!

D'oh , check very carefully for damage you can't see.

More importantly your ok! What about details? I HOPE she stopped? Well, she must have.... But being today's attitude, it wouldn't suprise me.

Hopefully, the garage approved by the insurance will ring tomorrow morning for me to sort out when to take it in, I was worried about extra hidden damage, hope they repair it properly:confused:

and to add insult to injury, I have to go to police station with a producer, so PC Plod told me that his computer says my car is not insured??? doh, I have just renewed it and have the policy here, he said the database may not have been updated or something:mad: grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Just to make you feel better, rear bumpers are notoriously difficult to repair.

I hope you took a picture of her and her car, it's not unknown for these small details to miraculusly change when the third party file their report.

hope the lady was insured! those things can cost a lot to repair, did she admit liability for the accident or did she claim that you pulled in front of her then braked hard?? that's the normall get-out that people try to use!

To quote little britain andy "yeah, I know". Having big probs with fixing my bumper at the mo after getting hit from behind. Be aware that when they put the new bumper on, the corners of the bottom half of the bumper may peel away when the car goes into the baking booth to get resprayed:thumbdwn:

Good luck!

Wot state was her car in?

oh bugga, didn't think to take photo of her car, I took photos of mine when I got home as we were on the sliproad with cars whizzing by, I didn't wanna get run over too:eek:

She didn't say anything to me apart from "give me your details and I'll be on my way"! I said no, police were there and they sorted things out. She had better not say I was to blame, I was just slowing down to join the stationary traffic at the bottom of the sliproad (its on a hill) and she just slammed into my car! She has a Toyota Rav which didn't look too bad at the front but the police said it was badly damaged underneath and something had been pushed back and they were talking about getting a tow truck for her as she lived quite a long way away!

Woke up today and me neck is stiff and sore, not happy:thumbdwn:

Just make sure that the insurance approved repairer are also skoda approved otherwise you could be saying goodbye to the paint warranty. I would personally excercise your right to get the car fixed where you like, and opt for a main dealer.

Jec, where in Lancs are you based? I know a body shop in Preston that have a brilliant knowledge of VAG cars and did a brilliant job on the front bumper of my old VRS when I had a bump..... the bumper actually fitted better once they had finished with it, than it did when I took delivery of the car !!!

PM me if you want the details of the body shop

how do I find out if the repairer is Skoda approved? Should I ring insurance again? Can I insist on it going to the dealer to be repaired?

god, wot a morning:eek:

I am in Barrowford, near Colne, the repairer the insurance company are using is in Clitheroe

*UPDATE*

repairers just rang, they are coming to collect my car today before 2.30and leave me a courtesy car, they said they are an approved repairer and their bodywork is guaranteed for 6 years anyway, and they said hopefully tomorrow, when they have had a look at it, they should be able to tell me how long it will take to fix!

Had a similar thing happen when I had a fabia 12v - March 04. Car was ony 8 weeks old

As a bit of reassurance -

1. A Primera estate hit me - was a write off - my car needed a new bumper and tailgate (£750) - all done thanks to the other drivers insurance company.

2. The floor of my car didn't crumple. There are some steel rods (I think that was it) behind the bumper which took the impact.

3. Normally, a rear end shunt is the fault of the other driver - so you should be ok if the other driver disputes it.

4. Hint - have a camera phone or a camera in the car. Can be very useful.

There's about 5 insurers that don't share with the police - ANPR will also zap you too I'd guess.

With any luck, not only are you ok, but you'll can put a kill marking for a Suburban Useless Vehicle on your driver's door too!

Should be fine, hope you're alright. It's just the rear bumper, and if it's a brand new car, I think you'd get it fully replaced through insurance.

If not, yes, repairing a Skoda is actually quite expensive.

You only get a brand new car if it's a W/Off and under a year old and only if your policy states that too.

Oh and you may want to hide your reg plate in the pictures quickish.

Aye - that's the rear crashbar - very useful bit of kit in a rear end shunt. Designed to crumple up on impact to protect the chassis of the car.

Not that I advocate the sue at all costs mentallity but if you have a stiff neck etc you should mention it to your insurers who should sort you out with an examination for a whiplash claim, and it will then be on record if anything should occur at a later date. A friend of the wifes had a nock and her insurers talked her into claiming whiplash allthough she wasn't bothered at first, she went for an examine and they found a trapped nerve, and now shes started suffeing from migraines.

yeah, my insurers have got a solicitor to get in touch with me regarding a medical, as my neck is now sore and I find it hard to look out of the side window when driving, it hurts to turn around and I bit my tongue so that's painful

anyway after this awful couple of days, i'l have a beer or 4 tonight, that'l sort me out:rofl:

I would get down A&E to get x-rayed. Doubt they'll find anything wrong, but just to be sure.
