New Model Fabia - finally some official photos!

Featured Replies

"Spins smoothly up to 60000rpm"? How big is the revcounter on that then?...lol! Also 0-62mph in 16.5 seconds for the 6V 1.2...and I thought my car was sloooooow! I might have do order a brochure when they are availible though , just for research purposes , you understand....:P

16.5 ain't too bad for the base engine, the old Fabia 6v was slower as this has an extra 6BHP now, the 12v should knock about 2secs of that.

Gosh, it doesn't look pretty does it. I thought the Roomster nose would look good on it, but this picture...

Makes it look very, very lofty.

It is pretty tall yeah, I don't like it so much in some photos but I do in others, like these:

It seems nicer in Silver or Grey....

Well, the height doesn't look so bad if you put it in front of a ridiculously high garage!

There's loads more photos over at WorldCarFans.com if you're interested :) It actually looks quite good...Maybe just burgandy red doesn't suit it ;)

According to the very good review on 4Car, the automatic will come with paddleshift

Very happy with the good review for the high powered 1.2. Nice to see bright colours in the dash rather then the black in the currrent car.

"The boot cover, which can be installed at two different heights, increases the flexibility and functionality of the boot."

Any idea what this means? Presumably it is neither the cover over the spare wheel nor the parcel shelf.

It's the parcel shelf I expect. Good idea. :)As for the review, well Autocar says "This is an impressive improvement on a car that was highly rated anyway".

An impressive improvement, it will be a winner.

Hi Guys,

If you head on over to 4car.co.uk they have another review of the new Fabia and it's all good.

Very happy with the good review for the high powered 1.2. Nice to see bright colours in the dash rather then the black in the currrent car.

Autocar rate the higher powered 1.2 12v unit aswell, saying it's more fun and characterful engine than the 1.6 and lower power diesel units.

Also check out www.fabia.de - a few unique photos on there too :)

The 1.2 12V is a nice engine, and as it's quite light compared to the other engines it seems quite flexible.

That said I would suggest the 1.4 3 cylinder will be a very good choice for the turbodiesel variant - if you do significant mileage I'd consider it for sure.

I've not driven the 1.6 petrol, and I found the 1.9PD100 very nice too on the motorway :)

Looks like proper climate is an option on the Mk2

Uh-oh, there's an option to have a Mini-esque white room...that's going a bit too far I think. Things like that should start and end with the Mini.

I've driven a 1.2 12v Polo and I was impressed by it's smoothness and relatively nippy lowwer end thrust!

I hope the base model does come with the padded dash, glovebox lid and power steering along with the 12v engine (not only the 6v) - as that's the model I'd be interested in.

One point that disappoints me is that Skoda have used the 'Zenith' alloys (17"?) from the Octavia vRS on a cooking Fabia II for their official photos.

Is this just for the press releases or will they follow thorugh into production?

If they follow through, there will no doubt be some Octavia vRS owners disappointed at the loss of exclusivity of their wheels!!

They're not Octavia RS wheels, but you are right: they are not exclusive. The 16in wheels on the new Fabia are the Atria wheels from the Roomster.

I read about a 6 gear 1.6 auto version, will it come in 6 gear manual? 1.6 6 gear manual is good what I am looking for in it...

( maybe I read the article incorrectly, so here is a quote of what I read "All come with standard five-speed manual gearboxes, though 1.6 owners can specify a six-speed Aisin torque converter auto as an option")

i am really keen to see how this connection to mp3 player is... a slot for SD cards or USB sticks would be a massive bonus for me.. : )

...and anyone heard of any integrated GPS/mapping on it?

Quite right - I stand corrected. :o

Having looked more closely although both the Zenith and Atria wheels have 5 twin-spokes; the design of the spoke is different. :)

Good quick first review on Top Gear as well: Top Gear

That's about the first time I've heard Topgear say anything good about any Skoda, so they must be doing something right

An interesting point I picked up in the comprehensive Channel4Car review -

"... and in Mini-apeing fashion the Fabia can have contrasting roof paint." Now that's a first for a Skoda!

Also the comments about ride/handling were interesting; seems like they want us Briskodians to stop buying JabbaSport rear anti-roll bars.

Does anyone have any sizes of the new Fabia ? I don't mind it being longer or a bit taller its the tendancy for cars to get wider that worries me .... would be nice to fit it in the garage without having to fold in the mirrors every day (unless this can be done electrically ... but don't think this will be an option).

One thing i noticed whilst reading the Top Gear review is that they say this new fabia rides on the same platform as before.

I'm sure that isn't correct, i read somewhere (autocar maybe?) that the Fabia is again the first to use the new Polo/Ibiza/Fabia platform.

That happened on the first Fabia didn't it so i guess they are following the same engineering path with the new one.

They say "much the same platform as before" , so it is different , just not hugely

Yes, it's a reworked version of the old platform, which will also be used on the next Polo and Ibiza.

It's actually 4mm narrower than the old Fabia so should fit in your garage just fine.

There's a good video on Youtube that shows off it's styling and interior:

I really like it!
