EVOMS Air Induction Kit

Featured Replies

don't bother with an intake. minimal gains and they can make your car stutter really bad. the standard airbox is pretty good.

A very sweeping statement Harry. ;)

We've seen a proven gain from the EVOMS setup.

Or do you mean Fabia intake?

Fabia one I'd imagine :)

no i mean on the octavia's. ill rephrase what i said. you do see gains with an intake, but for me, drivability went down the drain. i've come to the conclusion that some cars, maybe just my06 revisions suffer from gay fuel pressure regulators. lack of power over anything after 5k rpm is pants. it's like being in a Fabia again.

The part shown in the picture is not the Heat Shield per say!, that is part of the enclosure for the EVOM filter intake and comes as part of the kit for the TFSI. There is a heat shield but that is mounted at the back of the engine compartment.

Note I don't have an EVOMS filter on my car so my experiences may differ from others.

Yup; I know there is an aluminium heat shield that sits at the back of the engine over the exhaust manifold/turbo on the TFSI. What I am after is, as you describe, the enclosure for the conical filter (as shown in the photo).

Remember guys please that mine is a TDI. This has a different intake system to the TFSI, where I repleace the air box only as the OEM intake trunking with MAF comes round to the side of the engine between the battery & end of cylinder head.

Here are details of the K&N kit I will be fitting;- http://knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=57-0618

I'll have a look at the EVOM setup (thanks stu for the link) and take it from there; but I feel there might be a Heath Robinson enclosure coming along!!

I thought you meant the heatshield. I doubt the fibre glass bit would be sold separately.

It is that part of it that really makes it though, keeping the engine heat at bay.

I spoke with Regal Auto and also VWSpeed in Norwich (who Regal put me onto) to see about getting the fibre glass shroud around the filter; but unfortunetly neither of them could help. I have therefore decided to get some thin aluminium sheeting and make my own!

In the meantime, I received this morning my K&N 57i kit and having measured the oval shaped conical filter worked out that this has about a 25% greater surface area than the standard panel filter. So better breathing should be guaranteed.

I used to. With an intake installed it causes my car to hesitate at 5K RPM and higher which really isn't good so I run the standard air box now and have no problems what so ever.

With the intake fitted and still using the OEM Diverter Valve the car would cut out completely at anything above 5.5K RPM. With the Forge replacement valve in place with the intake it pulled but still hesitated. The only solution has been to remove the intake everytime.

This seems to only be a problem with MY06 cars, as I know Dave (Shifty) experienced the same problems I did. If you car is newer (after May 2007) then it's highly likely your car will be fine with an intake.
