We once picked up a couple of German tourists whilst holidaying in the Lake District.

Trouble was, we were in a 1978 MG BGT at the time

But, they persisted, climbed into the back, lay on their sides and got into a kind of Ying-Yang arrangement all the way into Boness-On-Windermere.

The smelt a wee bit, so I put the foot down and hit a few potholes along the way

First time i've seen 4 people in a GT!

We picked up some hitchhikers on the Isle of Skye once, but there were only two of them and three of us. :D

Turns out they were Hungarian students backpacking around Scotland - I didn't mind really. But no way would I pick up a hitchhiker if I was on my tod - you never know what their intentions really are.

Nor does it buy my children clothes etc etc etc.

But honestly, some people seem to think I'm sitting out there all night for the fun of it:rolleyes:

I'm not a f*cking charity, would they go into Tesco and say "I haven't got any money, but can I have this widescreen TV anyway"?

Peoples stupidity astounds me sometimes, it always seems to be my fault that they haven't got the money to get home?

Another free ride home...............Just like the Trains, I was once a Conductor......No Ticket, No Money....No Ride....... NOW :finger:

I'm with you mate.........and I'm also a great fan of the 'say it as it is' concept.

Come on, is it really that bad?

This woman was perfectly normal, just talked a lot faries and growing her own vegtables.

She said I was the first female to pick her up in years.

For a few years when I first got my driving license myself my brother and a mate would go cruising around till all hours over weekends picking up girls and giving them lifts home normally when they were walking between Torquay and Paignton must have picked up literally hundreds of girls over a period of about 3-4 years.

Early on I would give any hitch hiker a lift but stopped giving guys a lift after one turned out to have just been released from the police station on an attempted murder charge, that was a somewhat tense trip.

It always amazed me the stupidity of the number of girls prepared to hop in a car with 3 guys, normally it would be groups of girls we would give lifts to, but even so it was quite a risk they were taking. Still it was a good laugh at the time. I think it all ended when long term girlfriends were objecting despite the fact that nothing was happening.

We just ran a free taxi for skimpily dressed young ladies, sometimes we took them to the local haunted castle or sometimes on trips across the moors if they were up for adventure. Wouldnt do it these days, being a married man and dont want to put myself in temptations path.

Many happy fun memories from that time though, often hugely overloading the car, I remember one occasion the backseats were full of people sitting on peoples laps and my brother had a girl sat on his lap in the front seat as well think it was 7 girls we picked up on that occaision and there were 3 of us guys in the car... Mad.

The look on one of the girls face when she was sat in the back on my brothers lap and she asked if he was comfortable in response to a look on his face and he replied that she was "sitting on mr winky" :D

Some very fun times, of course quite dangerous even for a guy a woman could invent a rape claim at any time :(. Wouldnt do it these days but it was a lot of fun when I was younger.

Yep, it really is that bad, smacks of stupidity to put yourself intentionaly in a vulnerable position.

And clearly she wasn't normal, anyone who believes in fairies and vegetables is clearly bonkers, harmless maybe, but definately bonkers!

Em, my job has opened my eyes big time and it's just not worth it to risk your safety. I will say the same to blokes picking up females too, you don't want to end up falsely accused of anything.

Maybe here in NZ as it's generally a safer place, that said there are still nutters and murderers here.

Every time we've passed a hitcher here so far I've had a full car already!
