Central locking too silent

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've got a 2006 Superb Comfort. Every time I lock it with the remote I have to peer into it to see that the red light is flashing to be sure that it's actually locked. Does anyone know if it's possible to put some sort of audible blip on it so that I can HEAR that it's locked? Either a couple of bleeps from the horn or from the alarm siren or an add on "blipper" would do.

Thanks

Should be possible with vag com etc,

As above, find someone with vagcom on here, they will come out and turn on the blip.

I enabled the chirp for my alarm using my own vag-com. I also put on the anti-hijack feature at the same time

Just thought I'd update this thread.

I was going to be passing my dealer so I asked them about this.

"No problem, bring it in and we'll do that"

"How much"

"No charge, it'll only take a minute" WTF!! a GARAGE said that!!!

Well, took it in, 5 minutes later I was on my way, barely had time to finish my (also free) cup of coffee.

Credit where it's due, they gave me a good price when I bought it (pre-registered) last year, fixed a minor scrape (my fault) at a reasonable price, and now this. I tend to have a low opinion of garages (just down from solicitors and estate agents in the money-grabbing-******** list), but this one has treated me well so far.

Mid Cornwall Cars, Victoria, near Roche (just off the A30) 01726 890046

My local garage charged me half hours labour to turn mine on!

My local dealer did mine and the aniti hi-jack FOC......

Baker21 I'm interested to know which 'local' dealer you use as I live just down the road from you and have used Jewsons and Pilling (MK) in the past as well as Inde-Tech and have had rather mixed experiences so far.

I have just moved from Leamington Spa to Banbury....

When I was in Leamington Spa I used to go to the Rugby dealer and they always seemed helpful with a great service department and parts department.....

At the moment I haven't been anywhere else but I am looking to visit Autohaus Skoda in Northampton soon as I need to get my 'Check Brake Pads' warning light sorted.....

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on Autohaus in Northampton. My experiences are so far:

Pilling Milton Keynes - Charge for everything, pricey but knowledgeable and have a collect and deliver service if local.

Jewsons Oxford - Pricey, knowledgeable but courtesy cars hard to get

Inde-Tech Milton Keynes - Much cheaper than dealers but just as knowledgeable. Use OEM parts - highly recommended

I will let you know mate but I generally steer clear of the dealers as much as possible if I can do things myself....

Can you explain......what is the anti-hijack system? and do I have one ? I have a 2007 Superb elegant. Thanks

It locks all of the doors when you are rolling above a certain speed, mine is 5 mph I think, to stop traffic light opportunist thieves etc.

There's a VAG Com sticky post here

Find a local, friendly user. Takes about 10 minutes. The software appears very easy to use.

The port on the Superb is under the steering column. It's purple, and you can't miss it.

One potential problem with the anti-hijack is that it appears to have an 'auto-lock' feature. If you unlock the car and then do nothing, the car will lock itself again after about a minute. I wonder if this is disabled once the key is in the ignition? Otherwise it seems an ideal way to lock the keys in the car, e.g. unlock, put keys in ignition, close door. A minute later the keys are locked in the car!

This is exactly what happened with a C class I used to have - a design/software flaw as far as I can see. The remedy was, a) to break the glass (

Mine only does this if you do not open any doors.

I think they are all the same.

In terms of the "auto relock" ..... it doesn't do it if you put the keys in the ignition (no need to turn ignition on) on my Leon MK1. Not tested the Skoda as yet but probably should!

Correct - Mine does the same, and so does SWMBO's Focus and our daughters Kia Picanto. So, if you unlock and don't open a door, the car relocks after 30 seconds... its a really good security feature. :)

Are you referring to the anti-hijack feature that locks the doors at about 10mph or so? Then unlocks as soon as you remove the key from the ignition.

I asked to have this turned on, on my SuperB before I collected it.

Mine is the same, unlock the car but dont open a door and it will lock again but if you open a door (or the boot as well I think) it disables the timed lock.

I got my Superb to chirp when activating the central locking yesterday at White Dove in Cardiff.

When I bought the car in May this year, it was part of the deal that it would have mudflaps fitted all round, but they didn't have them in stock before I collected the car. As I'm 40 miles away from the dealer, I haven't rushed back to have them done. I was in lectures at Miskin Manor, so I took the opportunity as I was in the area and asked for the chirp to be programmed at the same time!

All was done with no charge - nice one White Dove!

I realise that this isn't the point of this thread, but don't your indicators flash?
