vRS Alarm

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I have just spoken to Skoda about my 2004 (54) Fabia VRS

I asked them if I could have the car programmed so that there is an audible sound when the car is locked and un-locked OR the alarm is activated and de-activated and they told me this was not an option for the UK market?

Have any of you had this done by Skoda themselves?

Did you have any problems?

I know this has been covered on here before but I can

Some cars seem to have it on by default. A dealer may do it for you but also may charge.

You can have a bleep when you arm and/or disarm....mine did it when I got it...I had it turned off. ;)

So why do Skoda keep telling me that this cannot be done?

Have any of you had this done by Skoda?

Did they have any problems with doing it?

Cheers

I had mine done in my local dealer - a 2 minute job and no charge. I just had it turned on when it's locked, and left the unlocking without a beep.

So why do Skoda keep telling me that this cannot be done?

Sorry to be pedantic, but if this is verbatim what you asked:

"I asked them if I could have the car programmed so that there is an audible sound when the car is locked and un-locked OR the alarm is activated and de-activated and they told me this was not an option for the UK market?"

... then the word OR is the problem. You can have an audible sound when the car is locked, and also when the car is unlocked. You cannot seperately arm/disarm the alarm system - it is activated with the locks and only with the locks. (The internal ultrasonic sensor can be disabled by double-locking with the key, but the doors and bonnet will still trigger the alarm).

Have any of you had this done by Skoda?

Did they have any problems with doing it?

Yep can be done by a dealer easily enough, but the only problem is that they may charge their fixed "diagnostic" fee to do it. If you know someone local to you with VAG-COM it's dead easy to do (even I managed it )

*bryand* I have posted this thread for some help/advise not for people to try and be clever!!

I think the majority of people understood what I was asking for!

Thank you for your input though it was much appreciated!

For the other guys on here who do like to be helpfull thank you very much!

I believe it's actually illegal to have the chirp noise enabled in the UK (hence why Skoda say that it's not an option for the UK market).

that's how mine came

that's weird - I asked about this for my SE, and they said either silent for both, or noisy for both, but not 1 of each.

but is it a chirp (a fraction of a second of the alarm noise ?), or - like the hire car we had in the US- a more annoying "parp" of the horn ?

Thats strange, every car I have had which had an alarm fitted has beeped in one way or another when locked/unlocked. My octy is the first that does not beep.

It may just have been your dealer not being aware that the option can be enabled.

Go back, explain it can be done and failing that, find someone with VAG-COM that will do it for you.

There's a sticky - map of people with vagcom - probably some friendly briskodian local to you....

Good Luck!

Bas

Yes it CAN be enabled with diagnostic port via a dealer set up or VAG COM. I had mine enabled by EddieH. One chirp for lock, 2 chirps for unlock. I like it but it is loud!!!

Its a chirp of the alarm noise. I accidentally set my alarm off once lol.

My dealer did this for me before I picked mine up.

I really do not understand as Skoda will not do this for me as they say it cannot be done!

The service I have had so far from Skoda in Colchester is not good!!!!

Is there any one near me who has one of these VAG-COM to help me, I will pay!

Cheers

Not quite.... The chirps mean it doesn't meet Thatcham requirements, which are all about not disturbing NIMBYs these days rather than any real security.

You've got to have the Thatcham tick in the box or the Insurance industry won't like it.

Whoa fella, bang out of order, Bryand clarified what he was writing, and he is 100% correct, if the dealer thought you werre asking to arm the alarm seperate then you can't, I advise you not to jump down members throats when they are trying to be helpfull, sorry but this is becoming a regular trend at the moment when people don't receive the answer they want, please play nicely:cool:

He wasn't trying to be clever IMHO.

If you said "or" the dealer may be saying no because you can't do or, only when locked or not locked. I personally think that is a point worth checking when you speak to the dealer.

I don't get why so many new people seem to take people giving them fine advice that isn't perhaps exactly what they want seem to take it so personally and take offence.

Personally I would think that you owe bryand an apology, as having met the chap at a meet he was very helpful.

As a member on here the people offer help for free. This isn't paid for and they don't owe it to anyone they just do it out of their own goodwill to help others.

In answer to your question, I have seen it done and as Chris/Stu have mentioned a friendly local with VAG-COM or a dealer can do it. If your dealer says not, I would suggest trying another dealer.

I'm maybe being a bit thick...

But is the bleep on arming / disarming added through the Central Convenience 46 module using VAG-Com?

I have managed to get the one button unlocking working...but I can't get the bleep function working.

Can anyone shed some light?

Top man Chris...that's got it.

Mine was slightly different as I had one for the interior monitor too...but I've got it sat as I want now.

Thanks.
