I've got a stick on mirror in mine so Carolyn can keep an eye on our little boy in the back seat without having to turn around all the time. Surprising what effect that has (perhaps the xenons help as well).

The question would be if you added aerials how would you attach them?? Holes in the roof would be a bit pants.

Plus you would need the little stubby ones.

The Humberside unmarked cars also have small ball type things on the roof which I wondered were to do with the tracker system???

Mk 1 octy's are ace for playing at being a cop though.

Cheers

I find driving a white Passat Estate helps , Dog guard... and due to my job (traffic engineer) I do normally have a couple of cones in the boot, and a hi-vis jacket on...

:)

You guys are making it more complicated than it has to be! All you have to do is sit in the inside lane doing 60/65! Traffic starts to crawl past instead of fly past.

A while back, I was on the M4 just taking it easy in lane one, when I spotted a black octy vRS (fellow Brisky perhaps?) coming up from behind quite quickly in lane three. He seemed to slow down pretty rapidly as he approached me, and as he was level with me, his passenger glaced over at me, and I assume gave the driver the all clear, as he put his foot down again. :o

I think im gonna get 2 stubby ones, one dummy and one for my mobile phone and sit 1 either side of the rear ariel. i can stick em on roof and feed the wires into the seam between the roof and boot, its not that hard to run the wires under the trim either.

but the point is to make progress in traffic, 60/65 isnt really doing that, (although it is a fun game!). ive slammed on a few times too on the m1 for octys and volvo's in the slow lane.

whats the crack wi white strobes fitted to the front??? legal or very illegal???

If you want to scare people, just get a hi vis jacket, and get the letters p-o-l-i-t-e on.

Then go and stand with yours/wifes hair dryer on the side of the road.

Chris

Abusing the uniform of the Royal Air Force, despicable:eek:

Only joking, I'm ex RAF did 12 years, travelled the world, fought the wars, got the medals and the T-shirts and then decided with the chance of signing on for 22 and getting my Third up, that I was seriously hacked off with the standard of recruits coming in who totally lacked discipline and self respect and thought the RAF owed them a living:mad:

So reluctantly I left although I miss it and kick myself thinking that now I'd only have 4 years left to work before retiring with a pension instead of getting on for 60 before I see a penny:thumbdwn:

However such is life and I'll content myself with getting a Police pension and a RAF one when I do retire:D

Regards,

Steve

Wow a Police pension and a RAF one, that will be awesome, i've only been in 9 years got 13 to go  . Currently stuck at RAF Boulmer :(

while your on borderspeed, whats the crack with having white strobes mounted in the grille? is it illegal if they're not on and illegal if your caught using em or just illegal full stop??

As it says on the packaging "Illegal for use on the public highway" Nuff said!

By all means fit them but they should only be used for shows.

No legitimate use for them on the road, so sorry but no!

Steve

A mate of mine used to have an ex Grampian Police 24v Senator. White but unmarked.

Had the pleasure of driving one of these wee beasties (ex-Devonshire plod iirc) back in February. Excellent fun, especially in the wet :D

But one thing I did notice was that he has alternately flashing headlights - I though that would be a definate NO NO -- got to admit tho -- looks bloody fabulous.

so what are the thoughts of the law on the alternating white head light flasher then?

obviously the blue's behind the grill is a big 'no-no' then. wired up or not?

i must say that i have found that myself and my brother both have fun while driving around in our work uniform. white shirts with navy blue epaleps. i quite often see people ending phone calls and putting seat belts on. i had one woman recently make a point of un-ravelling her hands free kit in clear view of me. so i gave her the approving nod and fukked off a bit lively trying to hide my laughter.

So sitting in darkened rooms you'll feel even more mushroom like than the rest of us were, but fed the same amount of ****!

Actually tried to get to Boulmer at one point but then sense prevailed.

Served at Kinloss, TTTE at Cottesmore before it became a poofy Harrier unit, 47 Sqn at Lyneham, TSW and finally ended up on 617 Sqn at Lossiemouth plus the usual trips at Auntie Lizzies beck and call!

Cheers,

..... as well as maintaining a fixed distance to other traffic and driving in a very "positive" manner, without being aggressive. Often get people moving out of my way driving like this and if you want a bit of fun, match their lane changes keeping the fixed distance, and see if you can get them down to a dead 70mph

Chris

Chris,

I am SO relieved that someone else has

i was parked in fleet services on the m3 in my gas tanker last week when the black 54reg traffic pulled up in front of me. he had 3 small antenas on boot screen and the clear style led lights fixed to parcel shelf, in the middle of the parcelshelf was one of those screens that says police stop.he was on his own as well i was gona go over but he suddenly booted it off must of had a shout.

you can buy magnetic aerials from computer wi fi people, they usually come with a aerial thats about the right length, put that on the roof, in fact get one for each side ;-). Xenon lights on, white shirt, hi viz jacket or even a padded body warmer!!

I found just creeping up behind someone in a black octy does the trick, white shirts and inside lane works too.

Also out of interest, police cars on motorways under ACPO guidlines are only meant to be travelling at 60mph in the inside lane, reason is to stop cars bunching up behind as they all know you are gonna be doing 80mph once past!!

I just bought a vRS from lozgti (great car btw... thanks).

The first thing i noticed on the motorway was that people kept moving out of the way! I love it. My brother has a high vis jacket that i'm going to leave in there. :p

High Vis jacket, white shirt under it, tie perhaps, does the trick

Not done it much but had a bit of a laugh once

Thing is, I've seen police with strobes, sirens and beeping their horn trying to get some tw*t to move over for them on the A34 (they were coming the other way). Based on my rear view mirror guestimate it took them about a good mile before the guy shifted... Which imho should mean automatic ban...

Yeah, there were some people who were shall we say not doing the correct speed on the motorway. I immidiately pulled out to match their speed and maintained a set safe distance behind them. Some slowed down but most of them just carried on regardless.

But it was entertaining none the less...

DSCN0059.jpg id get out of the way for this if it came up behind me... i know they're better nowadays but putting "safety car" on a famous widow maker seems somewhat ironic, lol!

This is a funny thread!

Currently I still own an Ibiza Cupra. I used to have those high wattage blubs in it and was following my brother back from somewhere at a distance. He saw this car gaining on him with glaring headlights like mine so he sped up thinking it was me...it turned out to be a traffic cop :D

With a growing family I'm looking at the Octavia vRS estate. My dog likes dressing up so he can put his hi-vis jacket on (yes, he has one!) and look like we're on official Police dog business

I hope this thread is still going so I can take some pics lol
