So has anyone any details as to these 2008MY changes, such as pictures of the new alloys, silver roof rails etc? Also when the ordering of a new vehicle will allow the new choices to be made?

If you order a new car now it will be 2008 MY.

Im just hoping the silver roof rails look good on the race blue I have on order. On a black one I think it would look ace but on blue.... Hmmm, not sure.

My 1990 MR2 had cornering foglights, so they're all behind the times :P

Standard according to the dealer and Skoda UK.

28th May the 2008 Build started. See the attached document.

Does anyone know how to interpret this document ? Do you simply take the digits from the "Z" onwards ignoring the digit immeditely after the Z and only counting the next two ?

I would work back from the last digit but what you are really trying to do is ascertain from which range your number fits.

Alternatively PM me your chassis number and I can tell you.

I now know I have an '08 model for certain! I need to get out in it and have a go - still haven't had the chance and its killing me!

Pop your chassis number into the VIN Decoder and it will tell you the model year and all your car's options.

My Octavia was to arrive in Cork last Monday and ready for pickup tomorrow.

I won't be able to get it until Monday.

I have emailed my dealer and asked them for the VIN number of the car.

I'm going to use the link above (OIL Shop) to see what model it is and if it has the extras I asked for.

As it was only built about 2 weeks ago I'm hoping its the 2008 Model.

Just got word from the dealer that its in the country and it will be delivered to the dealer in Dublin on Monday. They said I could pick it up that afternoon. Only 3 and a half days to go :goodvibe:

Ok, I knew my new Octy (delivered 28 June) wasn't 2008MY because the alloys are 16" Vegas and not 17"s. Also, I could tell that my roof rails weren't silver which I'm pleased about as black looks better with the anthracite bodywork.

Why the pained cry of anguish and disbelief? I've just run my VIN thru the Oil Shop calculator (nice tool btw) and found that my build date was 15 May (13 days before the start of 2008MY) :(

What model is your Octavia and which country did you buy it in?

I call it a 1.6 FSi Elegance Combi (sounds nicer than estate ) and it's a UK model.

The full corbering headlights on the BMW 5 series are brilliant, can't see skoda getting this fir a few years mind.

The only reason I asked was regarding the 17" alloys, I thought UK Elegance models were still coming with 16" VEGA alloys as standard for the time being regardless of the MY08 cars.

It's listed way up the thread about 17" alloys but the spec varies quite a lot on the continent and the info is from Skoda CZ and may not be entirely applicable to the UK models.

I could on the other hand be talking bull....

I got word on the 27th of Jun that "Its being built this week" so that should put me well inside the 2008 model start date.

I won't know for sure until I get the VIN number.

Just been in 2 Skoda dealers today enquiring about buying a new Octavia and both of them told me they did not expect any changes in the specification in the near future.
