Fabia windscreen - headache/dizziness!

Featured Replies

Well, I went ahead and bought the 51 plate Fabia I'd seen a couple of weeks ago but I have a problem.

The windscreen is giving me a headache! When I look through the windscreen I can only liken it to maybe needing new glasses, although I've never needed glasses in my life! I never had any problems with my Rover 200 and I don't have any problems driving at work (I drive Merc van for ASDA Home Shopping).

I've only been driving the car for a week and, even though I know I don't need to, I'm booking an eye test (free cos I work for ASDA). I also feel a very slight dizziness after driving my Fabia, although I might add that it is only slight and I'm not at any risk of feinting or anything.

Just wondering if anyone else has heard of this problem or has any advice for me? Don't want to get rid of the car!

Thanks.

Sorry to hear that and also sorry to read your signature about the ex

I have had mine since March last year and have never noticed it making me feel like that. At least you're doing the right thing and getting your eyes tested. Keep us posted, it will be interesting to see if anyone else has suffered too.

An unusual problem you are experiencing

If you find its not your eyes and you have enough money to cover the excess, claim for a new one on your insurance.

I can honestly say I've never heard of this problem before! I hope you can get sorted.

It could be due to distortions in the windscreen glass, maybe the previous owner was unaffected. You could try and get the windscreen replaced, either by the dealer or through your insurance.

Hey, I didn't do too bad, I got to keep my daughter who, thinking about it, has probably cost me so much I could probably have bought another 10 Fabias!!:P

I think she's missed our car while it's out of action more than I have... mum's taxi is so much cheaper than a real one bringing her home from the nightclubs! ;)

I wonder, Can you get a prescription windscreen?:holmes:

:P

Worth checking also that the windscreen is completely clean as sometimes dirt can play funny tricks on the eyes. Does it happen every time you drive it, or is it only in certain conditions, eg sun, night, rain? Failing that, get it replaced on your insurance :)

Chris

this sounds a bit odd ball , but , are you sure there isn't an exhaust gas leak into the car

I find my car to be fine, but I've had 2 women in my car who've complained that the windscreen makes them feel 'funny'... Now they are both quite short so I assumed it was 'cos they're looking thru the bottom of the screen, it's fine for everyone else.

Are you on the short side? If so, try raising the seat up as this may help solve the problem. :)

You might want to try cleaning the screen on the inside. A Smeared screen could

cause it.

This may not be quite as unusual as you might at first think:I had a brand new Citroen C3 which need a new windscreen for the very same reason - It was distorted and the view out was twisted and odd.

A new windscreen sorted this however.

You would be amazed at the lack of uniformity in windscreen glass!

Get someone else to drive it while you sit in the front passenger seat. The experiences of both of you will determine whether it is a problem with the whole screen, something local on the driver's side - or your eyes.

Ah thats what it is then. Women in the front seats:rofl:

Didn't switch the seat heaters on, did we?

Actually, I'm quite the oposite, 5'9" tall, and my eyeline is above mid windscreen. I do tend to 'pump' up the seat to help me sit more upright so maybe I should take the seat back down again, although It feels so low down ( I also drive Merc 3.5 ton van). I'll give it a try, thanks.

I'm going to my friend's house tomorrow (after my eye test) so I'll get both her and her hubby to drive it.

Try pumping the seat down to it's lowest setting I am 6'2" need to drive with it on the floor, have had no problems you get used to it just like driving a go kart. :D

Probably just age

Seriously, good to have free eye test - tell you lots of things about 'good lifestyle'

+ seems pretty obvious you have major windscreen distortion.

Funny - was cleaning some windows in the home recently - 20 yr old - and could feel the 'bumps' in them - glass being a liquid etc etc ..................

One major problemo that needs sorting pronto.

My wife's windscreen in her VRS has distortions at the bottom..... make your eyes go all funny when you try to look through it..... no distortions in the main screen, I would have thought they would quality test them but one or two may slip through the checks?!?!

I had that in a ford once it was a flaw in the glass had to replace it in the end at night it was worse or on a sunny day, the more you clean it the worse it will go, has it been treated with anything, that can cause it too, if it hasnt been put on properly, good luck,

How did the eye test go?
