I'd be interested in seeing this too!

me to

And me! VBH and the VRS - not sure I'll be able to control myself!!!

Surely it would be Fifth Gear?

Surely it would be Fifth Gear?

She was on TopGear first (and if it was when Octy I was a new car there is a good chance it was an old edition - before they kicked Clarkson out, only for him to return and rescue it in its current form)

Is that the head to head with the MG ZS180? Seem to remember it had some sort of "parking" test in it, which involved driving a car round a multi-storey and reversing into a parking space...it's certainly inane enough to be Fifth Gear, although I believe it was actually old Top Gear...

Well i was really exited about finding this vidoe. But after your post... I don't think i will bother lol. :)

Sound like the sort of test "vroom vroom" would do...

The best i can come up with is the fifth gear Fabia Diesel vrs v Mini Cooper Shoot-Out with Tiff Needell

Skoda Fabia Diesel VRS vs Mini Cooper

I dont remember the octy one but ill have a search

"vroom vroom" - the KwikSave of motoring journalism.

Makes "Fifth Gear" look like quality entertainment.

Does anyone remember "Pulling Power"?

Was there not a 3rd car involved also ??? something is telling me there was but is a distant memory

IIRC this was on Channel4's Driven program before they canned it.

There was a third car in the Top Gear magazine test, it was the VW Bora if I remember correctly.

The Skoda won.

I seem to remember that short bloke(forgot his name, but he used to test bikes a lot) doing a test of the MK1 vrs. He finished off with the line........"this is not an expensive Skoda, it's a cheap Audi"

or something like that.............

Steve Berry??

Off topic but anyone remember Rev. Bob from M&M that was a top show...the wheel of cheese :D, belive he had an octy vRS in the shoot out comp. at Well Lane

Thats him.....

anyone find this vid?? Ive looked but can only find the furby vrs & mini cooper.

Really want to see it :D

Id like to see this aswell.

I remember VBH's review of the Octy vRS (a red one wsa it not?) and I'm fairly confident it was an old TG which must be around 7/8 years ago. She reviewed it on it's own and gave it the big thumbs up at the end iirc.

I remeber it well. It was fifth gear and it was actually Jason Plato that did the driving. It was the Octavia Vrs, The Seat Leon Cupra and the Golf. They did an acceleration test as well as parking it in a multi storey car park. I remeber Jason Plato being surprised at just how quick the Vrs was. I also remeber that when they did the car park thing they criticised the Vrs steering for having to big a turning circle. However the best bit was that at the end they did that bit where they ask a group of people which car they would rather have and to stand by it, of course most went for the Golf and the Seat but I remeber Jason Plato saying that having driven them he would take the Skoda!!!

I remember that prog with VBH driving the Octy vRS as what stuck in my mind is she flicked it through some cones and got the back end to step out a bit

I'm sure tiff did a comparison last year using a golf gti and an octy mk1 vrs  - I seem to remember him driving them in reverse around the track to even up the chances as he reckoned the vrs wouldn't handle so well.

Pretty sure this was late last summer as I'd already made up my mind to get one and remember it giving me a confidence boost I'd made the right choice!

Could be dreaming of course :P
