My first day with Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

I finally got my hands on my Black VRS, from viewing the forum I was expecting something special, but I was unprepared for how amazing this car really is.

The adrenaline buzz that comes from putting your foot down & feeling the turbo kick in is both exhilarating & re-assuring in that it gives the confidence to be able to overtake without uncertainty.

The attention to detail - first impressions (little things I like) are:

*The way when flicking the indicator it stays flashing for a couple of seconds.

*The folding key fob.

*The configurable seating/steering position.

*Good seats (however I would have preferred a darker colour )

*A reasonable CD player (but a bit weak, I think I will replace, anyone know of a good MP3 system with a steering wheel remote?)

*A fuel gauge that doesn't visible move as you look at it on the motorway, unlike my Hyundai.

I did 200 miles today & loved every minute, I am sure that by the end of the weekend I will have trebled that.

I would also like to commend D.M. Keith the dealer I bought the car from, as they were very helpful (sending items special delivery to speed delivery time, picking me up from the station, etc.), in addition to giving me the best price.

Glad to see you are enjoying your first day in vRS ownership.

I picked mine up on a Saturday and covered 1000 miles by Sunday evening! Have now done 10,500 and the thing now flies! :D

They knicked my car! Took it for a good couple of hours they did.

I finally managed to get it back and it seemed a little bit swifter than before. Dunno what they did to it. Something called re-map? Think that must be the new AA 2004 UK road map or something. Still can't find it anywhere though!

Glad you like the little vRS. I'm still loving it after almost 4 weeks. Such a great car.

My GOD you got a deal at DM Keith!!! They never answered my calls etc. and lost out on a Octy deal!!

Congrats on the new purchase!

Was it a standard Black one out of the showroom?

Congrats indeed :)

Yep mine also has the three flash mode, it's amazing how handy it really is.

I'll want a car that drives me to work next :)

what is this 3 flash indicator thing people are talkin about?

That 3-flash indicator is something new - I don't have it on mine. Having said that, I have had mine for 6 months like Graeme so I guess it's been added as a feature on later models...

Surely nothing a VAGCOM can't sort out? ;)

Edit: I'll start a proper thread on this - it's bugging me :D

Basically you don't have to switch on the indicators to use them (handy for motorway use) just lightley push down or up on the indicator stalk and it'll flash the indicators three times for you.

Sounds rubbish but I find it very handy.

Mine has the three flash thing 04, one week old... anyone know anything else that's changed over time? I did hear a closer ratio gear box mentioned.

the closer ratio gearbox is ture. but that compamorises fuel eco.. and its not that much quicker so iam happy with mine

So when was the gear box change made? How do I tell which I've got?

Mine's got the 3 flash function enabled. Wasn't sure about it at first, but wouldn't be without it now.

I'm sure I read on the Seat owners forum that it can be enabled by VAGCOM.

Have a look at the sticker inside the front cover of the Service Schedule booklet (or on the boot floor under the mat). (My 4X4's gearbox code is FEX). Post the answer below and perhaps someone with the newer gearbox can do the same.
