A little update.

Currently waiting on Payment from a couple of you, you have been PM'd so you know who you are. If you've changed your mind then let me know, it isn't a problem.

As I am sure you will appreciate I have a fair bit of ££ passing through my PayPal Account for this GB, this takes 5 working days to withdraw. As you know I want to get these ordered ASAP and I am looking to make the order this week. This might mean me having to short term 'loan' the fund with my own money so please bear with me.

In case anyone wasn't clear, included in the price is the cost of a next day insured courier to yourself once I have recieved the parts here in the UK.

I will endevour to keep you updated with progress but as I have found before things have a habit of disapearing from sight once Parcel Farce get hold of them so again please bear with me.

Just 1 question that's bugging me on the Maxi dot, will I actually need an extra cable from the MFD2 to the dashpod for full functionality or not ? I did see a post talking of one, but no definite answer as to whether it was actually needed or not. If I do, then can someone just confirm the part number and I'll get it ordered as I'm a bit nervous about pulling the dashpod out and don't really want to have to do it twice.

As I said in the very first post I'm afraid I don't know. If I were a betting man I would say no as it seems that most of these devices use CANBUS to communicate. The guy in CZ who is supplying the parts seems convinced it is plug and play - all bar a little bit of coding.

I wonder if somone is confusing things with a mod for the old Golfs where they had to add a wire to get full 'FIS' display with the old MFD.

thanks for clarifying that, I was thinking much along the same lines, as let's face it, the original stream units must be picking up time and temperature off the canbus, so I'd have thought the mfd2 would be using the same system. (would have been nice if the above 2 items could be displayed on the mfd2, but we can't have everything I suppose. I'm not even going to remark on the parking assist graphics as I'm sure that's upset a load of peeps already).

I really just wanted to make sure that I'd only have to dismantle the dash once, and I'll let you know what it does once we're all fitted up to save anyone else asking the question.

I will of course need to find someone with vag-com to do the necessary, so that'll be the next step, but one thing at a time as they say.

Darn... not logged on for a few weeks and look what happens! Assuming you run this again sometime in the future, how hard is this to fit Stu? I've got airbags in the pillars and and the sat nav unit - not sure if that makes it any more difficult?
