Hi Guys,

Just droping in to say I now have my Maxi dot fitted got my local dealership to it and it is great. Will be a while before I get the BT sorted. Just wanted to say thanks to Stu he really is the Legend I was led to believe:thumbup:

Mav

Plan to install my kit tomorrow, is there anything issue with installing the kit without coding VAGCOM first? I don't have the diagnostic kit myself to do it, but I do have the time and energy to fit the electrics.

Not really Oli, shouldn't be any issues.

I'm not 100% sure it'll work but it might.

Talk nicely to Paul (smstext) and I'm sure he'll meet up with you and do the necessary.

from experience with mine (before i realised i had to do some vagcom on it) the BT with keep connecting and disconnecting and become unbearable when you drive (unless you turn it off). where are you in the uk?

Big thumb up to Stu  .For fitting my bluetooth kit today and chrisse for the coffee ;) .If anyone is looking at buying one go for it you won't be disapointed. And thanks again Stu i owe you big time.;)

I'm in the Reading area bud. We're forcast decent weather tomorrow and as I have the morning off I was goignt o take the time to put the bulk og the kit in then. I suppose I could always runa ll the wires to the kit under the seat and leave them there unplugged ready to go.

Im in Wantage if you can get over later on and have a vagcom, i also dont mind supervising where to put the wires but i dont want tohave to get my hands dirty :p

Thanks for the offer, I'll see how the install of the kit goes and if I can do it all tomorrow, and leave the wires to the bluetooth unit itself unplugged under the seat, if it's all ready I'll see about hooking up :)

Thanks again.

Excellent news John.

Okay well fitted most of it yesterday, just got the coiled cable hidden behind the fuse box to run to the head unit and plumb in the wiring, then it's VAGCOM time :)

Bugger getting that door sill cover up to get the wires through.

Anyone got any advice on running the cable from up behind the fuse box to the head unit? It doesnt look like there's a whole heap fo slack there. Do the clocks really have to be popped out? Oh, and anyone got any shots of the line to run the cable along?

it will be a lot easier to take the dashpod out and its quite easy from following stus guide. i thought of going around but there isnt enough slack really

Oli

When you come to feed the cable to the HU I always have the HU, Dashpod and top storage out.

There isn't a great deal of cable to spare, it's just about the perfect length. Feed it up behind the dash pod (Making sure not to takngle it up in the dashpod wiring) and into the opening for the top storage. Make up all of your connection parts and then feed the whole lot into the back of the radio opening.

Make the connections to the back of the quadlock connector and then install the HU. This is where you'll reap the benefits of having the other parts removed. You'll need to rummage around behind the HU as you push it back in so as not to trap any cables.

Once you have it all in and if you have enough spare you can put a cable tie through the whole on the crash bar that is visible with the dash out and then use that to hold the cable in place. Should stop any rattles.

Just had my BT kit fitted by Stu & I just want to say a big thanks! It was so kind of you to offer to be there and help, I know that the install wouldn't have happened with out a lot more expense and a lot of swearing had I done it myself! (nor would it have been as quick! What was it; about 2 1/2 hours all in? and that included the nightmare of my iCe Link 300 & nav tv's wiring:rolleyes:)

Also a huge thank you to your wife for the coffee and buiscuits, kept me going on the journey back!

I'm so glad I was able to me you as well, as you are a great bloke:thumbup: so thanks again for all your previous help & advice!

Loved you new toys as well:D Not sure my wife loved the thought that I had see more goodies!!!!

Thanks again & See you Soon:thumbup:

No problem at all Bruce. It was a pretty amazing feet for you to be able to get all of that extra wiring of yours behind the dash. I thought I'd keep out of the way there and leave you to it!!

Is the bluetooth module still available ?

I just ordered my Octavia and it will be delivered in januari 2008.

I didnt want to order it from the factory because they wanted 515 euro`s for it and then i get the ugly car holder with it and the maxidot etc etc.

The maxidot was already part of another deal from Skoda so i had to pay twice for the maxidot.

I have installed this Skoda Integrated Bluetooth Kit and the replacement buttons for the MFSW and have found it to be great upgrade (thanks Stu).

Does anybody know why when the Engine is running with the phone connected, if you open a door or the tailgate, the Bluetooth connection with the phone is disconnected and then reconnected?

If so can this behavior be changed by any VAG-COM recoding?

I'd be interested in knowing if there is a fix for this. Not a real pain but would be useful

have you coded the bt with the vag com? mine got better once i did this even through it occasionaly cuts now when the ignition is on but engine not running.
