RR Results - Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

Well, today i was down @ Dubsport along with a few other Briskodians and a load of Cupranetters for the Seat CupraNet RR day.

My car was first on the rollers, and it was on for about half an hour as the rollers needed warming up....

Anyway.. results :D

ill let the respective other Briskodians present post their results if they want to. altho the general consensus was the rollers were under-reading as a car even got below-stock results.

And its really really painful watching/listening to your own car bouncing off the rev-limiter, especially a diesel!

and a big  to James @ JBS autodesign... the Octy is awesome...

right my car, running shell diesel extra:

Engine Power: 149bhp @ 3876rpm

Torque: 253lb/ft @ 1883rpm

It was the highest bhp rating pd130 engined car on the day, altho the ibizas had slightly more torque, which didnt hit until over 2krpm

There was also a Leon Cupra TDI (150) which got 172bhp stock.

All in all it was a great day, good tyrekicking session, and nice to see a wide veriety of cars and mods :)

I know the feeling well. My 4X4 driving both rollers at Jabba sent vibrations through the whole building. In the end I had to go out for a walk in case my mechanical sensibilities imploded! :(

Hello, ill post my full results when i get home today. Not very good at all, 174bhp with a turbo intake pipe. :(

Mike,

Don't fret on results...there are some erm intresting observations to be made ;)

Paul is scanning my results in...suffice to say they are below what one might expect, but when held against comparable car's who were recently dyno'd at Jabba, it makes for happier viewing...

Okay mine: 217BHP 240ftLbs...

Stock vRS: As per DT above.

MkIV Golf : 208BHP - missed torque.

Mk-IV is comparable to mine as we both had full miltek's, TIP's and CAI, his was also on a K04, this was visible in the spool up times. It was also on jabba's rollers before christmas at 250+.

Needless to say I was like tigger with no sticks to play with till this golf stepped up.

There was a nice golf with an e05 and that pulled 240 odd bhp which is good to see given the above and calculations applied as per the above.

But at the end of the day the figures do not lie...at all...

180ftlbs of torque at 2k though, who said disels were kinds of torque...

So Mike; rest assured yours should be more than 180 ;)

These are IMHO of course and having never been on a rolling road before; god knows I may only have 217BHP; I care not I'm loving this software.

James vRS is very tidy and slightly MAD! Very nice NOS integration, I never even knew it was running, none of this jap sssssssssssssssssssssssssh rubbish, shame it's only on the rollers...

Colin, is yours a standard Furby VRS? If so how many miles have you covered?

Mine seems to be getting quicker all the time and I'm almost at 10000 miles

Nick C

Similar results for me.....

224.4hp / 279lb bizarrely my peak power is at 4800 rpm.... not bad for a rev happy 20v???

equally strage is ColinDs greater torque low down but 40lb less at peak? then he catches me up? ditto on power.. mine is flat from 4600 to 6500 smooth but defo not the way the car is on the road...

and just to keep my inherited HortonRacing chocolate reliability record I need a CV joint and a wheel bearing (test related not roller injuries)

was good to see James car made impressive figs with the Nos although I suspect he was also not getting quite what he had hoped for. Think he might just have sold me on the progressive controller idea. Atrip to sheffied perhaps?

:D

oh and josh the polo looks sweet! but get it sold theres a good lad!

So how far out were the results on what people reasonably expected? And did anyone have results obtained elsewhere to compare with?

I think this is a very good excuse for getting a remap!

Did James fire up the Nos as i left before it went on the rollers?

The interior was golf r32 and looked sweeet.

I think this is a very good excuse for getting a remap!

Who needs an excuse? ;)

I think there's a group buy on the go if you're quick. Give Adrian a shout :)

Based on the very healthy torque figure , the maximum power output and point does suggest that there should be a lot more to come, but for some reason it hasn't - is something faulty ?

Assuming that all RR's / conditions differ, my car produces similar power (221) but at 6000rpm, and I asked Jabba for an unleaded, torque-at-low-revs map. I would have thought that your car should be at the 255/260 mark if everything is working properly ?

Rob

yes a golf with ko4 conversion by jabba that gave 254 on jabba's rollers got 209.... compared with 217 for col 224 for me... which in theory would bode well.

another golf with e05 hybrid turbo got 247... but commented his prev figures were 25-30hp better from another roller.

only other comparison is Ian has driven my car alot and is firmly of the opinion that is is "substantially" quicker than his own - 222 for i i think.

The strange thing is to compare cols print with mine... for cars with same dp tip apr map and engine code.. both well lossened they are completely different curves.... yes i have an fmic but on a day with air temp at 12deg is this really significant?

Based on the very healthy torque figure ' date=' the maximum power output and point does suggest that there should be a lot more to come, but for some reason it hasn't - is something faulty ?

[/quote']

not sure really... i expected more but am unsure how much more... the power peaks very early - so did it slip on the rollers...? was the throttle not fully open..? was i trying to run too much boost..? no detonation ?

re the fault my nearside cv is shot and clicking and the wheel bearing is not far behind it but doubt this is losing power.

hi all

big thanks to dubsport and seatcupra guys.Nice to put some names to faces and get to meet some of you.good day all in all not to happy but not to upset,so guess all is good, and it didnt go pop.do however agree about the rollers being a little tight, about 28 bhp shy and 20ftlb also. But hey thats life

294.8 bhp

377 ftlb

And here's the dyno print:

JBS-vRS-Dyno-DS.jpg

Really good day... Nice to meet you all.

agree ..... good to put faces to names:)

roll on the 24th... then we can add beer to the mix!

Well heres my Graph...

Interesting stuff with the possible 10% error?... so my car could be more than figures show?

Sorry for the size.. tho im actually quite proud of the results :P

271performance.JPG

glad your happy looks good to me all you need now is software,as for the shy rollers personally i think we always want more power than we get!!!! and whats 10% anyway lol

James... very impressed with your car.

the wheels definatly look better in the metal than on pictures.:o

can NOS be fitted to a diesel? ;)

I have heard that NOS works better on a diesel. ;) Not entirely sure how true that is, but interesting none the less.

thank colin

yes noz can go derv, were working on the kit right now.

problem is controling it,and getting the extra fuel needed

to get safe power, the other problem we have found with the 02m based cars is that the clutch is good for around 330 ftlb, and we were around the 400 mark.the other problem is we had to use propain(camping gas)this also causes bottle storage problems

but in short yes it can be done, and has more potential than the petrol 1.8t

watch this space!!!

...and has more potential than the petrol 1.8t...
But for how long, exactly? A reasonable length journey or a quick blast for fun? Or to put it another way, what's the point for a road-going car?

The same reason you got Jabba... "to enhance the driving experience"

youve never seen that vid where a ferrari 355 gets wasted by a nitrous Leon TDI4 :P

Col,

But Denis's chip is there 24/7 and doesnt need to be refilled at regular intervals ;)

This would be ontop of a remap of course... to be used for "overtaking"... just like the overboost feature on Ford diesels
