fitting mine tommorow,it arrived yesterday thanks jabba:D

Ill await the GOD ITS AWEFULL!! as u know from mine it does settle in.

fitted now,its not to bad,oh who am i trying to kid, hope it calms down soon,it is the worst feeling in the world at the mo,can't say i wasn't warned tho:rofl:

It's worst when then engine is cold, or if you make the engine labour below 1.5-2k. On the upside it's made me do that less!

been for a good drive today, still shakes like hell, but what a difference you can really launch hard, when the lsd goes in it will be a real traffic light giant slayer:D

ok nearly 1000 miles done now is this thing ever going to quieten down?

Genuinely sorry to hear that it hasn't mate - funny- my DIY effort has become nicely quietened down after only 100kms.... With the idle rpm set to 1K its just a nice rumbly sensation, not at all bad....

i'm not that fussed really, tho i think turning the idle up would help:rofl:

It does - a lot. You can even cancel out the vibes above a certain level.

But then I'd imagine that the vibrations help settle in the mount, so it's a question of trade-off...

Tbh - the professionally-built mount is most likely far superior in the long run, once it's settled in properly. Just needs some patience while it's settling in (plus earplugs and duct tape to deal with any complaints from SWMBO...)

Far better summat that's been engineered by the pros....

Dont forget that the poly will be harder in the cold and may take longer to settle in...

yeh we will keep plugging on with it for now,but don't be suprised if it comes up in the for sale section in the coming months:rofl:

Basil how did you manage to raise your idle to 1000.

I tried to do this with vagcom but only got it to 880 from 840.

1000 would mean I could live with mine but I took it off after 1500 (miles)

My advice to anyone currently suffering is to take it off for a while, you wont believe the sense of relief when you do - its like you have a battery powered car by comparison.:D

Cheers

Anyone else's settled down yet? :D I'm in no way removing mine but am wondering about the vibes in the long haul. I may ask for Allard to raise my idle to 1000 as well, as I did notice holding the revs there when at a standstill more or less kills the vibrations. :) It must be that 900rpm is just the wrong rpm for creating a shuddering engine?

Raised my idle to 1,000rpm straight off.

(engine module one of the first coupla channels)

My DIY effort dogbone settled after only about 1,500km completely and totally. No extra (!) shudder at all now whatsoever.

had mine on for about 2k now,it won't settle any less i don't think, not as bad as when i first put it on,but its still quite er............hardcore:D

I think 900rpm is some sort of resonance frequency on the car, as things seem to be getting more and more rattly like it's shaking itself to bits. There's a rattle coming from the boot lid now.

Definitely going to get the idle raised to 1000 when it's retuned again.

You can DIY with vag-com - instructions on their website - works for my PD.....

I've just joined the vibration club, hmmm its bad!!!

I've just bought and fitted a Superpro bush to my original dogbone mounting with no trouble. I think they do it in two different hardness's of Polyurethane, one for fast road and the other for comp use. I got the softer version and it made a hell of a difference, smoother gearchanges Etc but no vibration problems though. It was cheap at 42 quid aswell.

I think if you look at Jabbasports website they sell Superpro so it might be worth giving them a bell.

Hey up,

Are the symptoms of a worn dog bone feel like the engine is moving back and forward especially when accelorating in first and second gear? Are ther other engine mounts that wear?

Ali

Definitely sounds like it, a bit concerning that you can actually feel it moving though

Steve

Front & back movement is purely the lower engine mount as it will just rock on the other two mounts.

We can now offer the Superpro replacement main bush for the dogbone on a supply and return basis if needed.

We'll send you a complete dog bone to fit and then refund a surcharge once we receive your old one back.

Thanks

Kev
