Newbie with a colour question..

Featured Replies

3 yr old Rally Red octy vRs here. Still gleams like it did on day one. Has not faded, The paint behind the reg plates, and around the inside of the doors is the same colour as the rest. Regular waxing and cleaning is the order of the day.

Hello chaps, just found your discussion, as a new member i'm still learning! I thought I might try to help a bit on the paint issue as I am a car painter by trade. The main thing to consider is that even though skodas are "solid" red they are still done in clear over base(just like metallics and perlescent colours) The laquer contains a addative called TINNOVEN please don't quote me on the spelling, and it is this stuff that acts as a UV protectant to stop the colour coat underneath from going white or pink depending on the individual pigments used. Vauxhall did all their solid colours in direct gloss and so never had this protection,

So buy any colour you want you won't have a problem.............Oh and sorry if I have bored everyone to sleep, Jim.

Oh, and obviosly a good waxing just stengthens the protection further!

black with anthracite alloys

Hmm, now where have I seen one like that? ;)

Prodrive PD7s in anthracite on order for me mate :)

NOT SILVER OR BLACK!!!!!!!!! be different.

At the end (red) of the day (red) it is your (red) choice of (red) colour car you (red) choose, so come (red) to the track (red) day on the (red) 24th and make (red) your mind up by (red) looking at each (red) colour car individually (red) and making your (red) mind up. Go with (red) your heart (red) not your head. (red) The solid colours are quite nice though.

Lol.... thanks JimVRS, very informative post !

If you hang in there as you did, Ryan, the chances are that someone will eventually talk sense. :sofahide:

I always talk sense  (except when I don't  )

If you can, get a dynamic blue one. They don't show the dirt as badly as the other colours, it is a desirable colour which is bound to make you car worth more purely because of the exclusivity of the colour. It is normally found adorning the car of the more discerning driver.

Of course, what I really mean't was "thanks JimVRS for the informative post, not that the other 29 weren't" ;).

I've been away for a few days and thought I would have a quick look to see if there had been one or two additional posts..lol

I do quite like the yellow, but my wife has a yellow mini copper (white roof, tints) - I know, I know, but its a girl thing. Don't really fancy two yellow cars on the drive. She brought the CVT auto (and every other frikkin option she could have) with it, and to be honest its great fun to drive - but not as nice for long cruises as the Fabia.

I notice a fair proportion of you are bikers too, long live the summer - my 'other' transport is a Yam Fazer thou :).

Cheers all for your help.... Im not sure if Im any wiser - but that might have been setting an ambitious target !

Looks like red is a possibility again..lol

Ryan.

Dont feel pressured choose whichever colour you want. RED
