So what we're saying is that all Fabia VRS's are **** poor slow little smoky shopping cars? yes ?

i wont have that said lol. thing is though if you want somthing to go head-to-head with an m3 then you got to be paying m3 money. looking at that video i think the Vrs just got off the line better

i dont think how much you tune a diesel imo a petrol engine will always be quicker due to the fact its got a larger power band i.e. lets say our furbys are dead after 3.5k tops but a petrol engine will have power till lets say 7250k revs but rolling i think is a different matter as we have power low down so were always good to go :D

??? Look at the new Audi A4, due out in 2008. The 3.0TDI is quicker than the 3.2 V6 FSI !

Probably purely due to the 500NM torque of the diesel.

It looks like the Beemer was ahead at the start though, then the Fabia just did him!

I got beaten by an E36 M3 at the Pod last weekend.... But only by a car length. He was quicker off the line but then I matched him through 3rd and 4th. He then started to pull away slighty just as we crossed the line.

He ran a 14.6 and I did a 15.5 Thats with a standing start but on the road I can't imagine it being massively quicker?

Neil

the achilles heel of the Fab Vrs is the standing start. Once you get rolling, it will do you proud against far more expensive metal....

Seeing as we're in the mood for posting video of Fabia drag races:

PistonHeads.tv: Skodas do battle

Neither of those Octavias will stick with an M3.

but that video is inaccurate and biased

;)

dnt b silly a furb RS wuld 0wnz j00 allz!

true true but i think on a sprint race a petrol would still as after 60 then the petrol would catch up an go past the diesel my opinion like you can get fast diesels dont get me wrong wasnt the le mans winner for the last 2 years a audi diesel engine

my standard furby wasted evo's skylines and a 200sx into the bargain they are not slow and crap they are performance machine:thumbup:

My PD100 passed a Veyron and a Zonda like they were standing still.

Come to think of it, they were standing still.

Is that the Mimon airfield, or am I just thinking one runway looks like another?

Not going to comment on the Fabia - obviously highly tuned as it chucked out a load of smoke on the start without moving. Even mine doesn't do that.

nope these were moving and trying too, their are even lots of witnesses:D

But the big question is would the outcome have been the same if you were in the Skylines, Evo's, etc and they were in the Fabia? ;)

nope they would have been wasted for fun and i would have got ben in mavis too, probably leeboy and bpm into the bargain;)

Those people on track were clearly scared of crashing their uber turbo jap crap, hence why they went slowly. :D Made me wish I'd booked a session in now as well. :D

I wonder who was driving the accord, as I would have expected that to have been quicker than a tuned derv - more power, better aerodynamics.... etc. If that was an M3....? Well, what a rubbish driver.

they drove them quick in a straight line, couldn't hope to catch them but on the twisty's they were scared of the skoda's,mind you the others on track were damm fast;)

Jap Crap? :o....

Shall I be the one to tell you what your driving ... :P

It must be the go faster stickers of course!

Maybe it was a 318i with a bodykit!!

There's no way that was an M3. I've seen many of them go and they are immense off the line.

That thing was rubbish

As for the other vid, the estate jobbie took off like a scalded cat. Very impressive.

Doesn't matter how much torque/power your Furby has, the Front Wheel Drive traction problem will be the limiting factor and cannot be overcome. You just can't get the power down effectively after a certian point. That's why silly power Astra's and the like still post dissappointing acceleration times.

The Furby is swift but not fast. The idea that it can ream M3s etc. is laughable.

strange how this fabia can't keep with a 325

its barely faster than a 320i

must be broken.

Hmm, not sure I agree with that comment.....

I owned an E36 320i and have driven an E36 325i and an E34 525i. There's an immense difference between them. Nearly 50 horses and a large dollop of torque on the M50 24v engine. The 320i is rated as the smoothest straight 6 but the 325i is far quicker.

It's also known for ripping it's diff out of the boot floor, whereas the 320i is hardly heard of doing the same thing unless heavily abused and lowered.

Now, in terms of the vRS, after owning a 320i, the Fabia would leave it with relative ease (even standard) but only up to a point - say about 90mph. After that, the 320i would come past and keep on going to 130mph+ as they are quite strong top end, one of the strongest car's I've owned for top end speed considering their modest 150bhp output.

I'm not surprised a 325i beat the Fabia to be honest though as with 196 horses and not too much more weight, it's not really a fair contest. A mapped one would give a good fight and probably would scare the two five driver quite a bit, but still wouldn't have it overall.

As for an M3, no way. An E36 M3 3.0 shoves out 286 horses as standard and they are known for hanging on to this power even with a fair few miles on the clock. An E36 M3 3.2 Evo takes it up to 320bhp with more capacity and dual vanos providing more torque.

They are immense cars and not to be tussled with unless you're running something pretty hot yourself. The one in the video can't have been an M3. A 6 pot maybe, to give the nice sound but the way it gets left, no way is that a genuine M3.

I had an E46 M3 before getting the Fabia, which mine is Jabba'd at around 180 bhp and there is no comparison!

A well driven M3 will get from 0-100 mph in 11.5s and I would say my remapped Fabia will do 0-100 mph in around 18.0s.

Either the M3 driver was asleep at the start, which we don't see or that is one very highly tuned Fabia.....
