Just got Annihilated by a Fiesta ST?!

Featured Replies

I don't believe I actually berated or got behind either car. I just pointed out where people got their facts wrong.

you said a remapped fabia would destroy any ST and that if it didn't you must be a **** driver

that doesn't sound overly glowing about the fiesta to me :D

Actaully this was the post;

Easy answer to this.

You can't drive for toffee.

1. You should be able to pi55 over one even tweeked as from your sig you should have a big advantage over it

2. WTF are you doing driving at those speeds on the roads? :thumbdwn:

Not smart.

I suppose it did come across a bit negative towards the ST, it wasn't totally my intention. They are great at what they do just like the Fabia but the original posters car is quite modified and really shouldn't have had an issue.

nobody wants a ford or a vauxhall do they ??

I work for vauxhall and there ***t cars!

It's a Skoda forum, it's bound to happen, and ncarring gave a perfect comment earlier. The only people who hate it, are the people who don't have it.

This type of behaviour isn't unusual on here. And I've met alot of people from this forum who say they've driven every car and feel that reading something from a magazine is a suitable back-up soloution.

IF at 18 when I bought my Fabia new, I could have afforded the Fiesta ST, and the insurance, I would of had it any day over the Fabia. (Better looking, better specced, better residuals... and more of a decent hot hatch overall i.e. better handling, faster.) All IMVHO.

Be interested to see what better spec it has?

Residuals?

Insurance?

MPG?

What i mean is one mans slice of cake is another mans poison.

The ST is a nice looking car, but where i live it would attract a lot of unwanted attention both from the local plod and the ch&vs.

1 reason for buying the VRS.

Practical and exciting

Gonna end up in a box you lot. or kill some other poor bugger, Roads are for getting from A to B not racing souped up cars,

- Sorry Mom.

Car was very fast. No big bore in sight. Anyone who knows me from the forums or meets knows I have owned a few motors, including fast nat asp petrols and turbo petrols (I still have the Revo 4bar mapped/full miltek Leon Cupra in the family).

I can safely say that this car would have mullered the Leon which is RRed at 221 bhp / 231 ft. When my GF is driving it to meets I can match her mid-range in the VRS (before anyone says something daft - yes, she can drive well, and does).

Its a bloody mystery as the guy was 2 up as well - I was on my own. When he overtook it wasn't just nosing ahead, he flew past, and was 10 car lengths ahead in no time. he must have been doing silly figures. The VRS in 5th at mid rev range has good pace, this guy was stuck to my bumper before passing.

Probably never know how he did it, but have to admit, i'm now thinking about how quick i can get back to Allards....

I'd have a Mondeo ST220 like a shot, or a Focus RS, but I can't afford either, that's why I have a Skoda, which is cheaper, and nearly as good.

Or a Monaro, or a VX220 ...

Nice! Lived another day.

Skoda Fabia Vrs Practical and Exciting!:)

Sorry for hijacking the thread BTW. On a related note, I was coming out of the road work on the motor way recently (in the dark) so put my foot down to leave what I assumed was a generic BMW 318 for dead........ as you do.

Only it wasn't a 318, it wasn't even a BMW. It was a Honda NSX who promtly screemed passed me!!!!

Moral of the story............ you win some, you loose some........

i know, he's nearly as good as you mate

I've seen somewhere a fiesta ST but with a Focus RS lump and running gear but i bet thats slow as well? :P

Its not pumaspeed anymore its the fast ford center.

Pumabuild are quoting anything between 180 and 300 bhp for stages 3-6 of their 2.3 conversion... not cheap though...

my Neighbour Has A 2 Ltr St ,i Have Drove It Its A Bag Of Sh**,can't Touch Mine But I Have An Octy Vrs,gave Him A Go In Mine ,you Should Have Seen His Face, jealous Or What. This Must Have Had A Bigger Unit In It.

Ah, that explains while the Fiesta is a bag of ****e. Your driving a Skoda warm hatch.

Now take a car from Ford that is in the same class as the Octavia in terms of size.

Focus ST anyday. Much faster, doesn't look dated ... bla bla.....

One great big circle.

Amazing how they offer such a bhp upgrade from a Bluefin remap. I am surprised at that as it's normally hard to extract more power from an N/A petrol engine, unless heavily restricted in the first place. Makes you wonder why Ford wound it down so much - kind of in the same vein as the Focus ST. Those things are good for 300bhp but they held them back.

The people I've spoken to about the Fiesta ST claim the ride is really harsh (even compared to a vRS apparently) and the engine has to be worked hard to get the best from it as you'd expect. But, supercharger kits are readily available these days and to give the kind of performance that would leave a fettled Fabia for dead in the way described I would think suggests forced induction.....or the 2.3 conversion.

I've driven the little TDCi version and to be honest it was ok. Not outstanding but ok. Except the gearchange - Loved that. Really precise and tight. The Fabia's felt sloppy and far too long in throw afterwards. The bog standard one didn't handle well though, probably why the ST is quite a harsh ride.

Now if we were comparing it to a more equal avdersary it would be a very easy issue.

The 2.0L Fabia would have taken it like a King.

Without a doubt......

Just had a thought actually.....the ST's 2.0 Duratec....is it not the same engine as used in the MKI Focus ST 170, just wound down a bit? That would explain the reason behind a simple map giving so much extra grunt.

Think you must be right - but who would have thought it? that bloke must have a fixed grin on his chops. I would be amazed if even the lads with VT2s on here would have kept up with him.

I've been out in some scarey fast cars (and driven a few). Talking stripped out and tuned mk 2 golf VR6 (CliveyP), AMD R32, nissan fairlady, evo v, IHI cupra R etc etc. This looked not far off the pace; the top end acceleration when he pulled out past me was massive, we are talking 100-130 ish in no time. A warm nat asp 2.0 just wont do that.
