Got one coming for mine pretty soon.

Easy to fit?

What setting do you have it on?

Noticed any extra smoke and is the power delivery nice as I've heard it can be a bit spikey?

mines not too smoky , and my power isn't too spiky , currently set at 15 , 1 down from max

i'm surprised the OP had such an immediate response from the box , it usually takes a while for it to feel faster

My box will have 7 settings though?

I got one from the Dragon Ebay store the other month..... Was sold as for the Audi range of engines but confirmed with Dragon it was ok for the vRS & was £50 less than the Skoda ones!!!

Anyway It's been on the car for a couple of months and there is a BIG difference when compared to the other vRS we have that only has the PD160 intake and Green filter.

The box will initially come on setting 4 of 7 and you need to notch it up or down one setting at a time before having a drive and then turning off the engine. Then up or down another notch etc, etc.....

It took me about 30 mins to fit but that's because i faffed about trying to find the best route for the cabling etc....

The car does smoke a little more than the other one but only as the turbo kicks in and you have your foot planted hard down..... To be honest i only notice it at night when the car behind is lighting up the clag with it's headlights etc...

Here's a couple of pictures of mine in place.........

Mine's on 7 also - used to be on 6 - and I believe (although others will say it's the placebo effect!) that the PD160 intake helps it keep pulling at higher (>4k) revs. I have fitted mine down by the washer bottle filler like WaveyDavey has, although it can also sit 'loose' in the gap between battery and airbox with the bonnet holding it in place when shut. I originally held mine in place with blocks of polystyrene - probably not the most sensible material to have in an engine bay after last night's Top Gear - and ended up using chopped-up sections of my OEM air intake to wedge it in...

As for smoke, it's not bad at all at the mo, although on top of the PD160 intake, I've also fitted a fresh filter and it was given a dose of injector cleaner last time it was in for service. Which of these helps most is hard to tell, although I reckon another dose of cleaner and a fresh filter every time it's in for service would seem to be the way to keep it fresh out-back!

Oh, forgot to mention: the PD160 intake now weighs-in at nearly 75 quid (even the guy at the Seat garage was appalled at how much they cost!) As you may have seen, Forge are developing an alternative that might not be much cheaper, but is supposed to be better - may be worth waiting to see what the next few weeks bring...

Be interesting to see what results you get at awesome this weekend. :)

Thats brilliant thanks for the pictures! Will put mine there!

as anyone got a link for one for sale on ebay so i know what one to buy myself sounds good can you notice a increase in power

...do a search for 'mrhoot'

I don't think they use the Mr Hoot thing anymore....... They have a new website and also the Ebay Store which is where i got mine from. The Ebay store is used to sell the reconditioned units for quite a bit less than the RRP and they still come with the full 30 day money back guarantee aswell as the full 3 year warranty.

THIS is a link to the Dragon ebay store.

Don't forget you don't have to go for the Skoda boxes.... You can also go for the VW, Audi & Seat one's as long as you check it is for the same engine size & output and tell them before they send it out what car it is for. Mine was sold as being for the Audi 1.9 PD and 2.5 V6 diesel engines.

thanks Dave.

what is the power output of them can you notice a difference

I think they up power to 160bhp

probably not much more , as my car has always felt down on power compared with others i've driven :(

isnt it better to get a remap from my knowledge of my old HDI?

Doesnt a 'tunit' box just up fuel mixture where as a remap does lots of other things??

A DB can be taken off when the car gets serviced and leaves no trace of being on the car unlike a remap

Yes a remap is better.

Basically yes, the remap can also change boost meaning you can control the air as well as the fuel although the digital tuning boxes don't really do a bad job. However a generic remap (Usually the cheapest, giving you a standard type of map for your model of car) might not be ideal as if not checked these can be harsh causing prem turbo failure and clutch/flywheel issues. A custom remap (Where the map is written or "customised" according to your requirements and/or the limits of the car) will fully take advantage whatever setup you have

You can also get "switchable" remaps, some you can completely swap the map from standard to performance and back. Plenty of info on here, have a search ;)

thanks Dave.

If used on the maximum power switch setting they claim to get another 30bhp out of the car. We have one Fabia vRS with the dragon box and one without and you can definitely tell the difference both as driver & passenger.
