Bad news for vRS drivers

Featured Replies

Was again reading the April issue of What Car over lunch. It had some advice which means if you are a vRS (either type) owner you are rather ****ed!

The advice was on how the choice of colour in a new car effects trade in and resale values. Here goes:

Bright Yellow - avoid like the plague. Will reduce a 2-4 year old cars trade in value by

Why whats wrong with white? You can tell me I'm sitting down...

And this passes for journalism?! :D

Well when even the pigs stop buying white cars.............

Dynamic blue rules the waves!

I read this too. So basically, given that I wanted an Octy Rs I can't buy silver as it's too dull, I can't buy Black 'cause I'm not a bloke, can't get Red 'cause it's a large car and can't get yellow as it would be hard to sell on. Ergo, I can't buy the car I want.

What a load of old tosh !

I kind of think Skoda wouldn't make the RS in these colours unless it could sell them.

If it had a wider colour selection I reckon they'd sell more.

I remember someone who had a Brown Vaux Cavalier, dealer didnt want to know come p/x time. Who would want a brown car, with a brown interior.

For normal car ranges which have a proper choice of colours this may well be an issue. But for those limited to a very small choice, surely it's not going to matter - buyers will know those are the only choices available.

Yellow is best, btw. Why be subtle about it? :D

White is clearly the best choice - why else would they only sell it as a ltd edition?

ltd edition?

Yeah, I guess the 4x4 is kind of limited... :P

:p

the way i looked at it when looking for a vRS was that they made the car in only 4 colours plus the even more limited white WRC.

the way i see it now is that we've all got a car that was only available in a limited amount of colours so we're exempt from these sorts of polls.

there a load of old c*ck anyway !

So Silver equals stealth, that will do for me !!!

I find it very hard to believe the colour choice is holding back VRS secondhand values - they're always sky high compared with other Octavia models. My guess is that actually black commands the highest prices followed by red, yellow and silver in that order. It's meant to be a performance car and most of those buying it will be in the "young men" bracket mentioned as being the only ones who like black...

just pity all the poor sods with lime green special edition ibizas they will not sell too well..

car colours are a bit strange.... there is an article in autocar last week noting that the uk is the only market where white seems to be a prob. usa arab states and southern europe all love it.. assume temp related...

gold is a funny colour.. i wouldnt have it given but still sells well to the older buyer...

yellow is love or hate.. personally.. i think its ok on lambo and porsche but not much else..

and well red / black - look at my sig:thumbup:

Think i'll write an article on "What Car" readers.... :D

hmm believe journos er no no no no no!!!!!!!!!

So... the only bit og good news in that is that red is okay for the Fabia vRS. I always thought saving

What sort of idiot actually pays for metallic paint anyway? :P

Given that Journos are SUPPOSEDLY professional EXPERTS, history has shown otherwise, they said the vauxhall cavalier was c****p, but it sold in shedloads, the scornful quiff needle ' a gti as a diesel ? ' it p1xxxd on the mini. they still mock Skoda's yet look @ the JD Power. If the BWM, adui, bercedes are THAT good why are they not above Skoda ?

So when it comes to deciding which are the best colours for cars. is anyone going to listen to them ? ' I THINK NOT ' we will still buy the colour WE want.

I'd have to dissagree, that black is top, silver second, red then yellow. Metallics will always be better at holding their value.

I guess I am ****ek too as I bought a bright yellow Fabia VRS. Never mind, I didn't buy it to worry about the resale value. I bought it to drive it. My wife says that no matter how misserable the weather may be the car makes her feel like its sunny.

Yellow fabia vRS is ok, its a small sporty car and kinda suits it. I'm a fan of black personally although my car is nature green!!! With yellow seats!!!! What was i thinking, perhaps a replacement vRS interior is calling.

Matt

nature green!!! With yellow seats!!!!
I can beat that someone on camp has a C2 in pukey greeny yellow with matching pukey greeny yellow interior NICE!!!!!
