Hi,

I have had a few issue's with my 55 plate Fab Vrs:

Leaking rear door seals,

Rear brakes scrapping like there is no pads left....but loads on them:

Clicking noise when depressing the clutch:

EDR valve changed:

Also Vrs's seem to like to mist the windows even though there are no water leaks.

Still think the car is great & the dealers look after me:thumbup:

High-level brake light failure is a known fault to dealers.

I have had 2 fabia’s and nothing has gone wrong with either, sounds like I should get the lottery on as I must be a really really lucky chap.

So far i've had (in chronological order):-

- Stutter

- Squeaky driver and passenger seats

- Leaking rear doors

- Grinding rear brakes (couldn't find anything wrong)

- Oil leak from EGR valve

Nothing serious, just a bit inconvenient to keep taking it back to the dealers.

Paint bubbling under side strips.

Probably as a result of water trapped there permeating the paint and leading to corrosion. This is how mine looked....

mines done that bubbling thing 10 days till out of warrenty so its goin in on monday to be checked hope fully it will be fixed

mine a 55 plate been for egr valve and leaking ac pipe also noisy gear leaver and mooing rear brakes the list goes on still would not part with car thought to much fun.

Just bought a 53 vrs, and im made up with it, only problems i can find with it are

1) rear windows steam up when its raining but there are no leaks in the back

2) the standard 6 disk cd changer wont play some of my (non-copied) CDs but the single CD slot will play them

Any body else experienced these problems?

Could be worse. If it was French, Fiat or Alfa Romeo you would have 10x the problems. Have you seen their forums?!

IMO I think it's just down to luck. My dad bought an N reg Astra 1.4 when it was 18 months old. He kept it for years, then I had it as my 1st car which it took a beating as it was such a slow car. I even put Wilkinsons £4 oil in it on it's last service as I would be selling it within a month or two. Apart from normal things like tyres, brakes, some suspension bits (they all go eventually) it was a very reliable car. 120k, original clutch and the comfiest car I've ever driven although a bit too soft in the corners but what do you expect for an old car.

I though I'd go VW for my next car as I still wanted reliability. My current car (Polo) has had little problems from the 1st day I had it. Engine management lights coming on when they want, tight windows which go down but won't go back up especially in hot weather and other little things.

It's all down to luck. No matter what make of car you buy (unless it's a Fiat) you're generally OK these days. No one really make bad cars so when loads of small things go wrong it seems like it's an unreliable car when in actual fact it really isnt compared to cars say 10-20 years old. How many of you on here whose car is less than 10 yrs old go out in the morning and actually think it might not start?

All cars have teething problems and faulty parts generally get replaced or upgraded over time. (SEAT Cupra bushes). Cars always get "upgraded" and "enhanced" by enthusiasts like ourselfs. So if your car does have a problem with something like bushes going all the time, someone on here with wisdom will have the answer to the problem.

Front Console Bushes replaced under warranty.

"Stripped" rear brake pad replaced under warranty.

Rear Washer pipe pops off every now and again.

Not bad at all for over 3 years of ownership.

I love my car.

I love my car.

Me too! Well, mine not yours. I've had it a year with no problems at all. Going into the garage next month for first service when I'll try and get them to fix the stutter as well.

No problems to report.!

Except...

Fuel temp light keeps coming on. £120

Sqeaky drivers seat. £400

Steering not straight. £80

All under warrenty so didnt cost me a penny.

Otherwise I would have flipped.

And cryed.

And then gone for a long drive.

And then got ****ed off with the messed up steering, the squeaky seat and the light and just gone home.

But still loove my car.

Recall for fuel pump bolts .....

i have been looking for a fabia vrs for a while now but after reading all this i think ill just keep my money and stick with my very reliable 306 hdi!

That is until you visit a Peugeot forum :) We had a 4 month old 306 at work that went up in flames due to a manufacturing fault.

i expect you'll find just as many - if not more - faults for the 306 on the Peugeot forum!

Is there a similar thread for Fabia 1.4 16v?

also egr valve sometimes common also ac leaking pipes and mooing rear breaks to name but a few

Fabia is one of the best models. Don't think you'll find a different car will be trouble free.

Forums can always be a bit awesome to some. Never mind the probs Ford or Peugeot have. Check out Mercedes!!

stutter

leaky rear door seals

vibrating / rattling gear lever in neutral

knocking noise from front left of vehicle (gear box mount?) when going over bumps

etc!

After much time spent in the garage, with gearbox / clutch issues, my car now has the same "knocking" noise as mentioned above. It never used to have this. One of those irritating noises.

Any suggestions because my dealer just doesn't to want agree there's an issue. Monitor it they said. After I’ve monitored it, i can conclude it's still happening....

Is it just going over bumps? or do you get it changing gear too?

I get it changing gear (on slightly jerky gear changes), revving high and dropping off the accelerator, going over bumps and knocks etc. bascially anything that makes the engine wobble about including starting the engine.

If you do, its probably this mount. if not, its probably something else.

Theres an official skoda bulletin about greasing the gearbox side mount to stop the knocking. Getting this done on monday so hopefully it'll cure it.

Lots of stuff if you search mate

I think that's probably specific to your vehicle as opposed to a general fault affecting a lot of vehicles.:)

I have found this happen to mine in the last week very anoying as i keep trapping it in the door:thumbdwn:
