N95 Questions

Featured Replies

Maybe this should be a sticky for N95 users.

My question (that I can't find on N95 Forums) is what video formats does the N95 support with it's fancy Realplayer application?

Will it support any more formats with a bit of tweaking?

What be most useful conversion software to make fillum for N95?

Thanks!

From a review I found,

"For video playback, the N95 has Real Player with support for MPEG4, H.263, H.263 (GPP) and Real Video formats. For those who need further file format support, consider 3rd party players and converters like SmartMovie (or wait for the forthcoming TCPMP for Symbian). Real handled 30 fps local file playback with files encoded at 500 kbps decently as well as streaming media over WiFi."

I got a copy of CorePlayer that Col recommended instead though, and it's very good.

Oh, I think i have some Core software on my PC, is that a torrent based app?

Ummm, CorePlayer - Home ?

It's not free, but fairly cheap and works well...

Steve

As above.. coreplayer actually is tcpmp i think.. it plays most things because it has builtin decoders.

Generally realplayer will play anything thats meant to play on an ipod video.. ive used videra ipod converter to convert stuff into h264 to watch.

Wow. I've just been watching Heroes on my phone. How cool is that?

Whats even cooler... if you have a decent speed PC, and broadband, you can install ORB on your PC and then watch anything on your PC anywhere on your phone  (orb is like a free version of the slingbox, which also works with the n95)

I find anything over about 20 mins stops before it should when being viewed off the memory card

The more I read about this N95 the more I think I probably wont know how to use/get the best out of it. On the flip side of course is that it means there are loads of people with them on here so it could be another support network

I'm not running so far! But that could be because I've had a curry and beer

Let me get this right. If I got one of these phones and added that thing I could then access everything on works computer system, all my work emails etc?

If this is so, I definetely want one. If this is not so, I bid you good day sir.

I have read your fiendish post now and can see the benefits of such a marvelous interface, however, my question is this,

What if you work in an environment where security is paramount and all the computers at work are based on an intranet system? Would you have to have access granted to you by the ISD?

On Firewall level, if the IP is not recognised/declared, it might not be accepted

On Citirx farm level, you can def. limit who can access, so when you say Security is paramount I would answer YES to your question

Hi Folks

In my quest to get my N95 working with the factory bluetooth I stumbled on this thread on the Nokia Europe forum

Re: N95 Bluetooth connection with car - Connectivity

Or follow the directions below

"Having just bought a new Audi A6 Le mans 3.0tdi quattro Avant - I was keen to find a solution to this bluetoth/phonebook problem. I too have the Nokia N95 and can confirm that the above link works 100%. Firstly you need to have Nokia PC Suite installed on you PC & phone .. then download the application and save to your pc. With your phone now connected to your pc.. download the saved application to the phone... [ make sure bluetooth is off and not paired to your car ]

Once installed on your phone - go to your car & connect/pair via bluetooth.... go to applications and run the application. It took a couple of minutes "processing " .... then switches to " transferring " ... again a minute or so.... Job Done.. My phone book is now integrated with the car and the MMI.

Thanks for the above link. Nokia Europe - Nokia 810 Phone Support Software

It's the 2nd one down.....ie

Nokia 810 Contact Download Application for Nokia S60 3rd edition devices Download now

Nokia_810_Contacts_Download_S60_3rd.sis

103.80 KB | English"

I keep digging the N95 out to play but then ending up switching back to my HTC Trinity because of the bluetooth integration, but I did as described on the last post of this thread and voila, my factory (vrSTU) bluetooth now has a synch'd phonebook.

So in Maxidot I can see and use the N95's phone book, but am still missing the missed / accepted calls, but it's a start. There is also another chap in this thread who has tried it with factory fit bluetooth on an Octy and had a result.

Sorry if it's been posted up before folks....

Fluff'

Nice find mate. Ive loaded the app to my N95, ill give it a go in the morning.

Thanks:thumbup:

This coreplayer for Symbian thing:

Does anyone know where you can download a trial version. Even thought the software is not that expensive, I'd like to give it a try with the vidz I have created. (Realplayer can see them, but doesn't play them??)

Otherwise the name of another app that reads DivX/Xvid files for Symbian OS?? Anyone?
