Chipping a Fab vrs.

Does anyone know how much it will cost to chip my Fab vrs, and roughly what difference it will make to the insurance? Although its fast enough as it is, you can never have enough can you?

I might say the same about you dude..............but I just forgot, you're gonna quit your job and go snowboarding for sx months anyway aren't you?

As for my being fired before...........at least I did it with style. Being escorted off the premises at Bradford and Bingley estate agents is always good for a laugh!

As to your original question..I dont think that you need to get your car chipped. Theres only 1 mod that would look right on a car such as yours.....

A tow bar so you can connect it to a plough or muckmaster (your choice)

Well, I found out today that the fab rs has been proven to be quicker that the OCT rs between 40 and 70. As this is where most driving is done, I know which car I'd prefer to pull a plough with.............drilled.

I've heard they're doing a special deal at the moment for Fabia owners.

They've offered to take the change the chip on your shoulders at the same time!

Chipping or re-mapping as it more commonly known can be done by various tuners and can give very nice power increases. Jabba, AmD, Revo, APR to name but a few. All do the same kind of job, but at differing prices. Mine is Jabba'd at a cost of just under 400 notes with one of SkodiRS's group buys and now gives a nice 183bhp and 309lb ft. The insurance will be affected, but depends on how much of an increase the map has actually made!

I agree the brakes are not up to the task when pushed.

well I don't drive cars hard especially round corners etc, but I love to have the power there for quick dashs on the motor way or straight lines etc, do you tink for this it would be fine without upgrading breaks and suspension, also does the egine not overheat?

If you drive "normally" then there isnt an issue - the remap improves things but doesnt turn it into a raging beast :P

And the car temp still sits at 90 degrees after a remap

Wait a year and then see how you feel. But if warranty is an issue, don't do it.

I would advise waiting personally. I'd thought about getting it done sooner than later, but apart from having no money to do it, I dont think I could be doing with the car starting to fail on me and having no warranty to back it up. I plan on getting mine done, but not until the car is at least 2 years old.

Besides, mine (with 6.5k miles on the clock) has loosened up pretty well compared to when it was brand new.

I think I will take peoples advice and wait as who knows it might be too fast for me as it is especially when the fastest car I have had is a 1.4 vvti corolla (not that fast)

They just get better the more miles you put on them. Mine's at 45k now (just over 2 years) and is nicely loosened up

Anybody any idea what the max recommended miles is before a remap?

TBH i would consider upgrading the brakes.... try braking hard-ish from over 70mph and things get a bit scary :eek:
