New Fabia Sport Arrived!!!

Featured Replies

That helps a lot, cheers wooden spatula. Yeah i went to a dealer this morning to have a look around the car (very impressed), didnt want to waste his time asking about finance, pricing, test drives etc as im not buying until the summer, wouldnt have been fair. The HP would be good, but like i said i cant afford the larger deposit, and for my first new car the solutions is a good option i think, can use the trade-in value of the car at the end of the term to fund traditional credit on another new car, that seems to be the general consensus of people i talk too anyway. The sport looks very very nice, and i think the 1.4 would be enough for me with mostly an across town commute, with the odd short and occasional long motorway drive. I think that the extra £1400 is warranted on a diesel, just for economy and the lower revs on any motorway running.

I will definitely be testing the dealers will to match a broker price when i come to buy, but getting the finance gives them the extra incentive to drop the price i guess. And i must say i was massively impressed with the Mk2, had the first oppurtunity to park side by side with my Mk1. Although its taller and narrower i prefer it, pays off inside though, the space is great, and the general quality is impressive. Ill definitely be getting one, in Storm Blue hehe.

Got an idea for you here which may work out cheaper. You could look into financing the 30% deposit from a std Bank loan and then you have the remaining 70% at 0%. Skoda will not care where you got the 30% from so worth investigating.

Other thing to consider you say you like the idea of a new car in 3 years time, If I were you I would seriouly look into the real costs of the PCP type plans. I have recently and it is a premium product i.e. your paying more for it relative to a HP/traditional type purchase plan.

Dont worry, im not stupid, i wouldnt sign upto a credit term without looking into all the pitfalls and alternatives. Just for me in my situation the PCP works very well, and gives me a foothold in the car buying market for future years.

Remember though even with all the Guarenteed Future value polava your paying x% interest on the whole of that amount.

So lets say the PCP with skoda is on at 6.7% and your GFV is £5k then over the 3 years then the interest on this guarenteed future value is £1k. So in effect you could have gone for the normal HP route and been able to sell it for £1k less and it be no different to a PCP.

One piece of advice take it or leave it & Im sure countless will come here now saying oh leave him alone... Anyway you say your finishing Uni very soon & given your the average Student you will have a considerable amount of Debt - which is kind of confirmed when you state your having difficulty finding the 30% deposit to get the 0% deal.

Why must you buy a new car? Im sure any sales man/ethical sales person who could see your financial situation would point you towards the used car section and not new.

Today it seems that all the youngstears MUST have new cars and go off on one or sprout on about Troll or inform everyone your on their ignore list etc but why.... perhaps its a pertinant question. When I was young I couldnt afford to buy a car let along insure it so I was lucky enough for my dad to put me as a named driver on his policy. When I could afford a car I bought it cash and yes an amazing feeling buying your first car even though it only cost £2450 to me back then that was a huge amount of cash. Now on this site & others the young dont spare a thought about spending £12k on a little run about and Ive seen many driving round in Focus ST/Astra VXR's.

No wonder were in the dire economic situation we are today - Im really glad I didnt make those mistakes as I can now afford to take significant financial hits and still keep going. If I wanted I could buy a brand new car but I dont because cars are money pits & if you really did love cars youd buy a £100 banger and then hire a 911 or whatever you fancy a handfull of times a year which you could easily afford to do in the depreciation saving alone

Looks like I'll be the 1st to flame you today:flame:(at least in this particular thread:ukliam:).

Some valid points yet your posting them in the wrong forum!!!:hotdevil:

Pardon me, but did you not read that i have already spent time considering the pitfalls of a PCP scheme. Do you think i cannot grasp the basic concept of compound interest? I have stated more than once that this particular scheme would be the best option, dare say it didnt require you to reach for your calculator.

You are right i am leaving University, but through having common sense, a tight budget and working during the holidays i have been able to get into my final months of University with no debt. So please before you make such broad assumptions think first. I have the money easily to pay for the 30% deposit on a HP scheme, but i would rather spend that money paying for furnishing my house. I would like to think that if i went to a dealers saying i would like to buy that car on this scheme, that they would sell me it, why would i buy a car i could not afford?

Pardon?! ignore list?! what is a pertinent question? I am right to be confused?

I would be happy to buy a used car, originally i was going to do just that. But to get a loan for the amount of a used car that would suit, the monthly payments are infact greater than the payments on the solutions scheme, and yes yes i will have no asset, but i will have a considerable chunk of a payment towards another new car on a tradtional HP scheme. I am not a child, i am currently on my third car, all paid for with cash, so dont assume that i have never saved a bought a car with cash before. All of which i have easily been able to insure due to having no claims, currently at 4 years. So im very sorry that you could not get insurance when you were younger  but im just fine thanks, and im sure you can appreciate it has never been more difficult for a young male to get insurance. And im sure with the wage i am going to start on i can easily afford a Focus ST if i so choose, especially with my no claims, but i like to think i dont need or want a car as such. I more wish to have an economical little 1.4 diesel myself, but each to their own, I must say i am glad you patrol the car forums preventing the young from buying fast cars.. Your'e a true hero.

Id think a £100 banger would be more of a money pit than a brand new car myself, a £100 car is a £100 car for a reason. Frankly id rather have 3 years free servicing, a warranty and no MOTS, not to mind nearly 60mpg. I like to think that as a degree graduate i am capable of getting out a calculator and taking control of my finances, but thankyou for your concern.

To be honest i do not know why i have responded to such opinionated twoddle, but i felt you could not continue to feel justified in your own strong (and often mis-judged) opinions, it has become clear to me why you have annoyed so many in this forum.

DESPITE WARNINGS FROM THE MODS - THIS IS STILL OFF TOPIC!! :P

Would anybody like to talk about the Fabia Sport some more?? :D

Me sir Me sir! I was trying to before being side tracked.

I went to have a look at one yesterday, a sprint yellow 1.4tdi, must say it looked great in the yellow, but dont think i have the balls to buy one of my own in that colour. After seeing a 3 in storm blue i think that would be the colour for me. I can only comment on the car as it was parked, as im not buying until the summer i didnt want to waste the salesmans time by going for a test drive. What suprised me most was the interior space (a comment on the car in general i know), but the sports seats were great, really comfy, better than the old vrs seats id say. The leather pack is a nice touch too, the chunky steering wheel is nice, and only aids the cracking driving position.

I always worry that the standard car looks a bit too tall, but with the new bumpers i think this helps a little. The Renault 197 esque diffuser is a nice touch, and does give it a sporty appearance twinned with the oval exhaust. I liked the sunset glass too, didnt quite look right on the yellow car though i thought. Anyway just my opinions, i will definitely be buying one in the summer.

Firstly good for you to come out of Uni debt free - does that incl Student loans or just Student overdrafts? I'll assume its both in which case you are in a tiny minority.

If you seriously think a £100 banger will cost you more than what your suggesting then its time to ROFLMAO. £100 with an MOT for say 3-6 months is fantastic value when it comes up for the MOT you have to be realistic about what is wrong with the car then a look at the A.T. or Loot etc and just scrap your car (you will be paid £100 by those Irish caravan people who buy any car for cash) then buy another and just keep going.

As for the Insurance well when I was 17 insurance for me wasnt viable as on my parents cars (taking the car to be my own) it was £1.5k+ so Id then have to waste money buying a rubbnish 1.0ltr banger no comfort etc and even then the insurance was still well over £1k so I was put onto my dads policy and paid the princly sum of yes £25 additional to his policy each year.I could have afforded it but common sense made me hold off. Couldnt care less what others do but thats their choice

What I didnt understand from your origional post and the above is that you wanted the 0% deal but was struggling for the 30% deposit - hence my suggestion at using a bank loan/overdraft/credit card (life of balance tfr) to pay for this then that story changes above to saying its not a problem.

Also as you keep pointing out about calculators - the monthly cost is the same as a HP on a lesser valued 2nd hand car.... well why do you think that is? Your actually buying the car rather than renting it - which is pretty much what PCP is you end up with a very small amount of equity in the car unless of course your monthly payments are higher or you got it massively under list price and they made an error on the GFV.

Sorry reread that - whie goods & sofas etc for your house you can easily buy on 0% over 4 years so do it that way it will be cheaper for you.

Do you have a car currently? If so why not think about buying all the kit for your pad then resave up for the deposit and then change your car.

Yeaaaaah

Soooooooooo... the Fabia Sport anybody??

Haha

Ive tried twice to report my opinion on the sport, read above somewhere, must say i was massively impressed.

Like the look of it :)

Visiting a dealer on Tuesday for some other stuff so will have a little wander over to the sales section, see what it's like :)

Off to the local friendly dealers this afternon so I'll have a mooch around and see if they've got one for me to look at. I've seen the new Fabia in the showroom but not one of the Sports yet :(

I'd like to see the styling mods in the flesh.

Wow, blimey, what a thread!!

Hi all, I'm newly registered 2 mins ago after seeing this thread via google search.

I'm really interested on hearing opinions on sport ownership. I have a vxl astra sri exterior pack 1.7cdti as a company car which is due for renewal in july. I am thinking of opting out of the car scheme and going it alone as i find the seating comfort of the astra dreadful for an £18k car. I visited a skoda dealership on the way home from work tonight and found the experience fantastic compared to the cut throat hard sell attitude that seems to happen at other local dealers near me. Compared to the vxl I found the prices very reasonable and the interior quality of the fabia much better. my mpg averages 48-50 at the mo at 40k miles on the clock. How does the spot 1.9 tdi compare?

many thanks in advance for your comments.

I best go to the main forum now and introduce myself officially !!

Cheers, Paul

there is a yellow fabia sport at dm kieth in bradford,it looks quite nice now i have got used to the challenging loks of the car

Firstly remember that the Fabia is a Corsa competitor not an Astra Competitor, the 1.7 CDTI in your Astra is the bad egg in the bunch the 1.9 CDTI 120 or 150bhp version is miles better both in noise power economy etc.

Very similar based on my experiences of the same engine in a Mk V Golf

  • 3 weeks later...

The Fabia is going to become available with sports suspension dropped by 15mm and also 17in wheels soon.

Where did you hear that?

I've read in quite a few magazines now that the Sport is an interim model - to run out the PD engine and - if Auto Express is to be believed - the forerunner for a new vRS ;)

Not a Skoda FabiaII...

But for those of you that haven't yet seen this introduction at the Geneva auto show tune in!!!

It's relevance in this Forum/Thread is as a cousin model we can look at this as a countdown timer to the availability of this power-train as well as the introduction of the next vRS!:orb_bounc

Skoda press info from Geneva. Hopefully Skoda UK will either make the sports suspension standard fit or at least optional on the Sport.

That sounds promising , I wonder if they will use the optional 17s from the Roomster Scout?

Those would also be nice but they are different. The 17in option on the Fabia is called "Trinity" whereas the Roomster Scout ones are called "Kenatur"

I think I'm right in saying that the new Fabia Sport uses the original Fabia Chasis... meaning it's basically a Mk1 Furby underneath.

Whilst I would love for the furby to look like the new Seat above - I don't hold much hope :(

Whilst I'm sure it will look nice, but it's still got to air on the side of practicality and affordability... I'm sticking to the general idea that the new vRS won't have more than 140BHP and will probably arrive in at about 14-15k :P

There is more chance of sucking the pope off than seeing that SEAT be spot on like that.

Way too many Concepty things on it...

As for the fabia using that powertrain, id say possibly!

Not to take this to far off topic... We all know we've been there before {Welshy!!!}.:tomato: Other than giving the interior one more similar to the FabiaII's. It's likely only to see the LED DRL's & possibly the blacked out front section modified before the Production model debuts in Madrid!:orb_artis

Is the appropriate place to discuss this concept. Just thought the power-train might be of interest to some of the members on here.:rally:
