ahem back to the subject in hand

0 percent interest on sports now!!

Bonus !!!!

So what would that equate to per month on say a 1.4 TDI, with a £2k deposit over 3 years (10k miles pa)?

Please note: I haven't developed Welshy like tendancies.

Just keen to SWMBO into one, so will not replay saying how foolish anyone would be to take such an offer out with;

a) the credit crunch, and

B) the collapsing housing market

and would be better off putting their cash into a 6 year old M5 with 1,000,000 miles on it

i think it would be somethin like

price (inc met) 12465

deposit would have to be 3739.50 (30% min)

balance 8725.50

242.37 x 36

mileage isnt issue, and im sure you could get something off if you try hard enough lol!

saw one today in the same colour, i think a yellow one would be nice though as it would contrast more with the rear diffuser:) or a black one with a white roof!

Would you like a nice 2.0 fabia elegance on your forecourt ;)

Don't want to spend that much though :D and it would need rear disks

I'm sure Mr Spatulas could do a group buy

Then he could have 2 super fast cars on his forecourt to rival the VXR's opposite :D

4litres!! wow that would be a beast;)

0%....and the models been out for what 5 weeks...ouch its really not shifting is it.

Also Drive the deal are offering the Fabia Sport (with this 0% offer) for £11,620 thats the 1.9 and the 1.4tdi is £11k dead & Im sure given the economy currently they would rip your arm off with an even bigger discount.

johnwg why would you opt for the 1.4tdi over the 1.9tdi? its only £600 more or is it the future running costs VED/ins?

or not quite  have you seen how many other zero percent deals are out there??? if skoda dont offer them they fall before the competition! you really dont see the bigger picture do you???

well thats great for them isnt it?? :thumbdwn:

have fun dealing with a dealer who might be the other side of the country, bearing in mind theres no guarentee that they will honour those prices. or even that the car that turns up will be the right spec. afterall they wont have any money to pay for any issues after spanking it all away to do the deal in the first place!!

do you actually LIKE skodas? or do you just enjoy being grumpy all the time?

Exactly vauxhall, Seat, Skoda, Volvo - doesnt it kind of hint to you the trade is in dire straights as sales are dropping and clearly given so many0% offers around not offering one yourself is reducing the potential market place.

If it turns up incorrect spec its returned statutory rights you do not accept a car unless it is what you asked for (note none are pre reg's either so shouldnt be an issue).

? Wha does spanking it all away on deals like that to pay for any issues? I thought you were a sales man i so sure your aware that any warranty issues are paid for by the car maker who are invoiced for the work by the dealer.

Do I like them - yes, although they are just a car aiming at the lower end of the market place. Most are small cuity /shopping trolly run abouts i.e. Fabia and then the family car Octavia is the next step up when 2 prams will just fit in the boot then you realise no room for shopping/luggage. Then you have the suberb (which in latest guise appears to be right ahead of the game).

not really only car sales though is it?

the current public spending has slowed down due to the economy in general. the manufacturers have to react to that trend and to gee up business offer zero percent finance to ease the cost on their customers. it happens in most sales environments at the moment, white goods, TV's and even houses! i was offered a flat with half the mortgage paid for by the government for 3 years. its not particually any one trade.

and just how will you know that until it turns up on a truck? you can turn round and argue that point but in the mean time how do you drive a car that your not going to accept? so while your on the phone argueing with a company the other side of the uk with, your left without a car. great stuff!! ive had people who have had that happen! luckily they dealt with closer dealers and got it resolved, but after waiting 12 weeks for a car its a pain in the backside to say the least.

are dealers there as a charity or a business? if you come back with a issue and maybe warranty wont cover it, or wont give you a loan car, or are inconvenanced in some way, if a dealer gives all the profit away, how will they look after you? after all thats one of the things people enjoy by going to a good dealer, being looked after the actual sale! if they have to give away everything they wont be there long enough to do that.

Lower end of the market? what vs audi maybe? merc? the lower end of the market imoa is chevy, suzuki, kia etc. certainly not skoda. middle of the road at the worst. i mean how can a manufacturer that shares the majority of parts with VW/audi be "the lower end"??

most are small city cars? erm not really if you take the basic range only then less than half are city cars. And my god how big do you think a buggy for 2 children is??? theres plenty of room in a octy for a big buggy and shopping.

i suggest you get some correct information and stop being such a gloomy gus.

BTW im not saying skoda are the best or better than anything in particular, but what i am saying is for the money they are very good value, excellent build quality and have rock solid reliability. certainly not traits so a "low end" manufactuer

I would opt for the 1.9TDI, however as I said in my post it would be my other halfs car and she would opt for the 1.4TDI for the reasons you outline above......

< Awaits Welshy's response informing me of how foolish she'd be to get a brand new car and should go for a 6 year old Golf with 100k+ miles on the clock..... just realised it will be a long wait as Welshy only seems to post between the hours of 9-5 Monday to Friday. NOTE TO SELF find new job which pays me £50 an hour to post on Briskoda >

Well somehow you have convinced that buying new is the thing for you - odd really when all the advice is to buy 2nd hand up to 5 years old and that comes from all the magazines only those who must have the latest model i.e when blue ray came out need they apply.

Also please remember than in 3 years time that 100k Golf for £5k will still be worth around £2-3k whereas this new car will be worth what say £5k thats a huge loss please explain how you can justify such a loss? Unless of course your planning on keeping the car until it drops then fair enough - note from your above comments its going to be the Mrs car i.e. city car and will not cover that many miles a year in which case why are you buying diesel? Costs more to buy long term issues with Turbo & injector failure which are just not prevelant with petrols + the cost differential will tak around 50,000miles to break even and given city car use thats going to be what 10+ years.... ouch

Oh my god please tell me your not serious koda is not the lower end of the market..

ave you no idea how the VAG group nhave segnmented the market?

Skoda - Budget Brand i.e. lower end of the market

Seat - Still a budget brand but aimed more the the young market & a link to sportyness i.e. BTCC & FIA touring cars

VW - classless brand and reasonably aspirational

Audi - prestige brand

Lambo - Super car

Bently (or is it RR?) - ultimate top end

As for your comment its not a low end manufacturer thats not what I meant I mean the cheap end of the car price scale VAG needs a product range in all segments clearly as ford & VX discovered you cannot have a 5 series equivalent VX or ord as there is no prestige hence no Granada/Scorpio & Carlton/Senetor/Omega replacements what did Ford do??? Buy Volvo which is within the next budget range.

Skoda will never ion todays prices be able to field a 5 series competitor or a sports car only warm up versions. And before anyone states the Octavia vRS TFSI well thats hardly fast is it a mere 200bhp.

As for dealing with a dealer the other side of the country - Im sure you are aware that there are hardly any "sole" dealers in the Uk anymore most are Paragon/hartae (spelling wrong) Reg Vardy (Ford/Jag/VW/etc) and then you have smaller groups which can have up to 10 dealerships within its chain. You do not need to go to the one with where you bought the car - remember if Tesco in Inverness sells you something which is broken you can change it in London or anywhere the same applies to a car.

As for no car - well firstly with drive the deal they provide the price then you are in contact with the dealer directly so if they are that inept to get your options incorrect & have taken your car part x then you certainly have the right to claim back any hire car fees or demand that they supply you a car until your one is ready (or they give you back your part x). If you didnt part x and sold privately then its a little more tricky but still small claims court _ failing that Watchdog Im sure that the dealer would accept the Hire car costs due to their error rather than be humiliated on TV and potentially lose a lot of business.

As for after sales care - If I have bought say a VW no matter which dealer I went into I would expect exceptional customer care as if they dont then they will not have my car for servicing another dealer will, and if they dont see that as an issue then they are naive beyond belief and theuir business deserves to fail.

Skoda will never ion todays prices be able to field a 5 series competitor or a sports car only warm up versions. And before anyone states the Octavia vRS TFSI well thats hardly fast is it a mere 200bhp.

Skoda doesn't have to compete with BMW, they are supposed to make cheaper, practical and reliable cars, and I believe they will always have thier place in the market.

That said, the new Superb is just that... it's like an A6 on the inside, and you can bet it'll be priced a lot cheaper than the Audi's/VW's - I'd love to see what the Superb vRS looks like if it ever appears :)

In regard to the Octy II vRS; 200 BHP is more than enough for a brand that prides itself on making practical yet exciting cars ;)

They've found the perfect balance between sportiness, practicality and cost... I for one fell for the formula! :D

Same can be said for the Mk 1 Furby vRS - diesel hot hatches were nothing new, but Skoda were the first to kick the trend in the teeth and go all out to give us a car that made a BIG impression - and I'm sure ALL the former and current Fabia drivers out there will agree with me; they make an impression

To get this thread slightly back on topic, Skoda are missing the point with the Sport... they've got the forumula all wrong.

Price is too high, not sporty enough and hardly exciting!! :P

I heard yet another rumour that Skoda aren't going to release a vRS yet because a sporty Polo and the new Ibiza have still to be released!

Skoda do compete with Kia/Hyundai/Suzuki/Peugeot/Citroen/Renault and probably a few others Ive left off. I got the impression from the sales rep that as I was stating that Skoda are a budget brand that I meant they were rubbish - well thats a total misconception of what I said & also there is nothing worng with being a Budget brand competitor (or even at the middle or towards the top of the budget sector).

Agree fully about it being too expensive and in all honesty given the model has only been out for 5 weeks that Drive the deal can get a discount of not far off £2k & there is a 0% deal going on clearly indicates its a poor seller. TYhe sales rep here has a vested interest to hint otherwise while I clearly have no financial vested interest & from what most know here its £ that is my main driver.

Also as Ive highlighted from drive the deal you can get a 1.8TDCI Climate Focus list £16,500 for £10500 now thats the next size up for ball park Fabia sport money with more power & kit so why buy the fabia?

For the time being I'll concede this point and agree.

Get your act together Skoda!! :finger:

Just another one -Motorpoint are selling del miles Seat eon 2.0 16v TDI Sports for £11,600 - now thats surely a far better buy than the fabia Sport 105bhp 1.9PD!!! If not please explain why

Wow, £6,000 off the price of a Focus, they must hardly sell any then if they need to knock that much off.

Assuming that's a correct price , I'd definitely go for the Seat.

It's a far better buy.

EDIT - just like so much Welshy posts , it's wrong.

They aren't brand new on delivery miles , but 56 platers with 10k on the clock

Sorry I'll check that I just looked at the top price and saw delivery (drilling down yes you are correct).

The Fiesta Zetec S 1.6TDC is £10k £2.7k off list (Drive the deal)

Also just seen the Fiesta ST 2.0 is £10.8k thats £2.9k off list

Seat Ibiza Sport 130tdi is £10.5k 5 door £1.1k off
