Small, Cheap, Fun

Featured Replies

After being prosecuted for speeding today for the second time in 2 years, I'm Coming round to the idea of a small, non-powerful but fun car.

This is due to me being unable to notice the difference between 70MPH and 96MPH int Mazda.

I'm thinking in the realms of Panda 100HP, or Mazda MX5 1.8, or something similar.

What should I be a considerin?

Rules: Nowt above 150HP, Must handle sweetly (no Fabias then!), Must not need "fettlin" to be a good car!!!!

Sorry to hear about that mate :(

Either of those motors would gladly have my cash. The Panda would get the nod if I needed something a bit more practical. But loved the '5 when I had it and just wished I could have kept it as a 2nd car, when space wasn't an issue and sun was shining.

Perhaps the Suzuki Swift Sport as well? What you thinking of spending?

I'm not really limited to funds, just power and speed really. I don't want a pocket rocket as that will get me banned from driving, I'm a habitual offender after all  Just summat slow but really fun to drive would fit the bill.

How about a smart roadster ?

erm, would fit the bill nicely but sadly I'm homophobic. Sorry.

Something light, low powered and with skinny wheels/tyres so very little grip, makes it feel like your going fast!!

Got to be an MX5. 1.6 to save licence!

I think you should seriously consider one of these.....

:moped: or :skatebrd:

You're obviously not safe in anything else. ;)

Caterham 7

Westfield

Lotus Elise

Its surely gotta be the panda?!

You seen the kit you get for £10,250!

Some of the options are good too... like subwoofer with 6 speakers hehe.

£11,295 for metallic paint, ESP and a cd changer! Bargain!

Get an old mini! Wont have much more fun than that! 1.3i petrol and get stage 3 or 4 tuning kit on it, take you up to 115 BHP in something that was 650kg! And trust me you will be doing 70 thinking your doing 96!

I can't think of any car produced today (certainly anything that qualifies as "fun") that won't easily exceed 70 mph. It's the driver that needs changing, not the car, imho.

Ford fiesta zetec 1.25 is hoots of fun to drive.

Davy

join me on public transport....

you get to play "Cram-The-Commuter" on any train before 11am.

Or you can try your hand at "Guess Who Smells of Wee?", "Spot The W***er" (where you identify which moron thinks we all want to know what 'bustin' choons' or on their mobile or what/who they did at the weekend/lastnight) on any bus, any time.

Hours of fun.

On a more serious note, how about a suzuki swift - considered a more credible succesor to the original mini than the fat piece of marketing poo BMW churn out.....

Thanks for the replies, I will investigate further.....

Nick's right, it is the driver.

.....................mini.....................you no it makes sense!

£11k+ dor a super mini is a bargain!!

I think I must be missing a few things here, but they were bargains when they were £6995 not when they are almost £12k.

Old mini with the 850cc engine and a "stop the engine in a crash" cage fitted.

Hours of fun and as said 50 will seem like 90!

Panda 100hp (not tried one myself tho)

Swift Sport

MX5 1.6/1.8  My sis has a 1.6 and it's the best fun down the twisties!

VW Lupo GTI :)

VW Lupo GTI :)

 Agreed

VW Lupo GTI :)

Roy said he was homophobic so I think that rules it out ;)

TVR should do the job - no abs or traction control which will mean you will drive everywhere slowly to avoid killing yourself but still enjoy driving it :D

Don't see what's wrong with a Loop GTi at all - IMO a good shout.

Didn't think people considered them 'girly' at all

Steve

Lupo GTi is a small shopping trolly, therefore it is considered girly, just like the Fabia etc.
