Rant about Unmarked Fillth.

Just had a weird experience.

Was driving from Pirbright to Farnborough. Had a Black Octy2 vRS behind me. Now when i say behind me i actually mean in my boot. He was that close that if he had pushed in his cigarette lighter it would have hit me in the back of the head. I was sticking to the Speed Limit and was driving sensibly so wasnt doing anything wrong. Anyway i came to a NSL zone so just put my foot down as the Tool behind me was doing my head in. I didnt speed i just accelerated up to 60mph and stayed there.

Anyway to cut a long story short the Black Octy came chasing after me and then Overtook me in what i would deem a dangerous manner and in an unsafe place as he did it about 50m before a blind bend and had to slam on to take the corner. He then put on his lights (which shocked me as i didnt thiink it was a Police car and because of his driving). He then signalled me to pull over into a layby. So i did and got out. He came over to me and asked why i was driving so quickly.

This puzzled me and i said i wasnt speeding as i was using my satnav to tell me how fast i was going and at no point did i exceed 60mph. Now i need to point out that i wasnt cocky or anything when i said this. He then got irate and said " I never said you were speeding i asked why you were driving so quickly on a twisting road" this puzzled me and i asked him to explain to which he replied i didnt slow down for bends. All i said was that i didnt realise that i had to slow down for a bend if the car was capable of taking the bend at that speed. Now im talking your average bend here not a hairpin so i still dont see the problem. He then told me not to get cocky or he would do me for driving without due care and attention:mad::mad::confused::confused:

This made me mad so i just calmly bit my tongue and said im sorry ill drive with greater care in future. He then proceeded to check all my docs. When he saw my Army ID card he said "oh why doesnt that surprise me a Squaddie thinking he owns the road and that the world owes him something".:mad::mad: This massively got my back up but again i bit my tongue as i could see this tool would probably arrest me if i said anything. He then checked everything on the car and i mean everything the tyres, lights the works.:mad:

Now i know that the police have the power to stop and check everybody. I also know that you dont have to stop for an unmarked car but i did because it quite obviously was the police. The thing that annoyed me was:

1 The way he drove to get past me and the fact it was dangerous

2 His attitude towards me from the outset.

3 The fact he kept me their for nigh on 30 mins without any particular reason

4 His comment about me being a soldier

Surely this is not responsible behaviour for a so called officer of the law. Also having done the police driving course i know he shouldnt be driving in that manner. Ive noted all his and his colleagues details (although his colleague didnt say much) and the reg of the car etc and i am contemplating writing a letter of complaint. But i doubt it will make a difference.

rant over

Carl:mad::mad::mad:

If you happened to take down his number plate, report him and the date it happened... haha

The bloke sounds like a Grade A c*ck.

You've got his details, next step would be a letter of complaint.

On one hand it may not do anything apart from make you feel a bit better, on the other hand it could get him a b*ll*cking and you a nice letter of apology.

Report him.

Absolutly no call at all for pulling you over, expecially as it sounds more like he was driving without undue care and attention.

Would love one day for someone in your situation to have had cameras fitted in your car and to just absolutly kill the c'ck when you show it to his superiors, expecially if u happend to of had a mic and recorded his converation.

Comment about army is totally unjust.

To make such a generalisation and labelling you is as good as discrimination in my

books. If it had been me and I had your army training, but not your patience, I'd have

had him in a damn fancy arm-lock till he apologised:mischief:

Nice "Squaddie" comment - I don't think. Cheeky ****.

I wonder how he would feel about dodging Taleban bullets in Afghanistan for a few months at a time? I would imagine his opinion of "Squaddies" would change somewhat.:finger::finger:

Send that letter, why should you being a soldier change his opinion of you as a person? it's beyond me :thumbdwn:

Trust me the thought of ripping his head off crossed my mind on numerous occasions:mad:

The police are obliged to respond to all letters of complaint (although I'm not sure timescales). Write the letter, keep it factual (don't use emotive language) and as 3rd person as possible and send it recorded so you know it arrived, and that you have a record of it being delivered.

Chris

Perhaps you could have shone one of your many torches in his eyes Carl.

I've had a similar experiance many years ago with an unmarked car carrying out what the police described as 'driver training'. Didn't stop me but just drove in what seemed to be a dangerous and un-necessary manner.

:finger::finger:

Jealousy of my torch collection will get you nowhere:P:P

A punch in the throat would have been far more effective and satisfying

Fully agree

I would definately complain.

Can I suggest using registered post - recorded delivery doesn't work as we think it's intended to.

@Mater: Sounds awful on all counts from what you say. Not surprised you're feeling miffed. Tsk!

Mo

Yep I would definately report him, for conduct and his driving..

Yeah you do a letter of complaint then spend the next few months with one eye permantly fixed to the rear view mirror. Don't make yourself a target just put it down to one of life's little knobheads who we all come across from time to time.;)

Hmm that might be true.

However i dont live in the area im only here with work and i leave on sunday so he would be hard pushed. If he follows me to Catterick then id have him for stalking:rolleyes:

Plod in plain brown wrappers do my box in. They tear around London acting like a jam sandwich on emergency calls but a lot less visible, often with no siren - if they haven't mown down a dozen pedestrians this year I'd say it's more luck than good judgement. I actually raced after one on the Old Kent Road who had no siren and no lights on either - I was on a push bike (!) and damn nearly caught the b***** before he reached a clear stretch and got clear of me.

If it was just one in a blue moon one came a cross it wouldn't be so annoying, but it's more like one every second trip.

That's the sort of officer that gives the police a bad name. What a nob!

this sort of thing makes me strongly consider fitting camera's that record fore and aft at all times, would shock the copper no doubt :)

in large garrison areas i have found this a lot,the police having bad feeling towards squaddies,a complaint is the only way forward.

wot a pr!ck... report the fecker... :thumbdwn:

i'm sure it will make you feel better!

ive tried to follow this thread via wap today when i saw it on the rss feed. I have had a similar problem with a tawt officer in an unmarked car.

Go onto your local police website and look for professional standards, their email address will be something like [email protected] obviously myplodforce is the name of your local police force.

They should be able to view the provida video and examine his driving to ensure his driving is to the correct and satisfactory standards he was trained to and hopefully pic up via the mic the conversation between the pair of you. if you dont like the results of the outcome then you can take it further as they will forward enough info on what to do with the results. Personally i would as it will make them aware of the lack of standards and waste the officer/s concern time of which he could be doing something a bit more productive (like eating donuts);)

Mater, Can I ask a question?

Was the "officer" in uniform at all?

If that was a genuine copper then he certainly needs reporting.

But, I am always wary of unmarked cars remembering that flashy blue lights are readily available on Flea-bay for peanuts.

Police, proper traffic police especially very rarely stop people from the front, they will use their blue lights from behind you where they have a much better view of you.

Also did the car have any dealer stickers on it (on back window/registration plates etc), again a sign its not police (they arnt really allowed to advertise)

If you are 100% sure he is a genuine plod then he needs reporting ASAP, if you now think it could be some one trying it on then he DEFINATLY needs reporting before he causes an accident!

Steve

if you report it and its not a cop car, at least the police can then do some proper police work and hunt down the idiot thats immitating a police officer.
