Cant get the power down!

Featured Replies

I know that I'm not supposed to be complaining about this but...

I had my vRS TFSI remapped at Revo before xmas and after a few visits back I was the difference it made was remarkable and I was happy with the performance. However, me being me wanted a tad more...

So I bought a Carbonio induction kit from one of the memebers and fitted it (cracking the enginer cover in the process :() The throttle reponse increased, in a BIG way! (seems flatter higher up the rev range tho - might need Revo to tweak it) So much so, that I cant get the power down now! It wheel spins in second, even from standing!! This is making getting out at Islands an art form in heavy traffic where as it used to be quite easy.

Now I've checked my front tyres and they are starting to wear a bit but still have plenty of tread on them as they have only done 7k. They are stock Michelin Pilot Sports on 18"'s

Any ideas on how to solve my problem chaps? (apart from a Quattro drivetrain!)

Get revo to tweek the map. A good mapper should be able to produce a power delivery to your specification. Sounds like you've got a peaky torque curve at low revs at the moment.

Perhaps you could try not pressing so hard with your right foot

The Select Plus would allow you to customise the map if you wish.

The REVO is anything but peaky on the TFSi.

Lighter foot mate, your car will only go as fast as you want it to!!

If I can manage i'm sure you can!!

A torsen diff would help a lot. Just make shure you don't hit the car in front of you after you've installed it. ;)

It's a problem for all mapped TFSI's, they seem to have oodles of torque which can cause traction problems.

It may be a little expensive but my choice to solve it would be the Quaiffe LSD

As said the accelerator has more than two positions.

Its all about feeding the power in so you know how to plant it

what other parts need to be installed with the diff tho or is it just a straight in job

Roads are cold, depends what tyres you have etc, Id use less of the right foot myslef. Havent you got esp as standard?

It's a direct replacement for the OEM Diff but it's a fair ammount of work to do it, JKM want the car for a day and a half to do it  There is another option but that involves buying another gearbox and swapping them over but again it wont be cheap.

The Quaiffe LSD is a torsen type differential. ;)

"UK based Quaife Engineering has launched a new version of its Automatic Torque Biasing (ATB) helical gear limited slip differential (LSD), for VAG models using the 02Q six speed manual transmission with the torquey TFSI 2.0-litre turbo engine. This includes the Mk5 Golf GTI, the new shape Audi TT and A3, plus the current SEAT Leon."

I rest my case. ;)

Whatever you guys want to call it it will certainly help with transfering power from engine to tarmac!

Quaiffe and Pelloquin both make a version compatiable with the Octavia 6 speed gearbox and either will produce equally good results

Thanks for the input chaps, £550 + 250 labour seems a bit steep! Maybe the map need tweaking somewhat to move the power back up the rev range? Can this be done?? (KEV?):o
