Hi everyone!!!

Wow, I only found this place yesterday, well impressed :D

I bought my first Skoda 4 and a half years ago, a red 1.6 Octavia that was a joy to own :) Then moved on after 3 years to a grey 1.9TDI Octavia (90bhp) that I was even happier with :D until someone planted an Escort into the back of it after only 1 year :(

It was repaired (damn fine job too!) and I traded it in for a red Fabia vRS, they were only just released in the UK at the time and within half a mile of the test drive, I knew I wanted it

It's the best car I've ever owned.

Hi Mike :)

Welcome to the site!

 Just what I was going to say.

Thanks guys :)

At the time I bought it there were only 3 Fabia vRS's in Carlisle, there's a few more now though and I still get asked about it everywhere I go.

Mine is still standard and will probably remain un-modded, at least for the forseeable future, though a quick look at the Jabba site was quite eye-opening !!

Welcome Mike.

Welcome to another Cumbrian. Keep an eye out in the Northern meets section as we have regular meets with the local Subarus :D

Is that for you, your wallet or missus?

Welcome by the way.

Wallet mainly.

I use the car for work, so it has to stay insurance-friendly, reliable and econmical. I'll cover at least 20,000 miles a year and the car has just had its first service.

I'm not against modding, but I've always had little worries that they would introduce reliability risks and that the fuel consumption will be affected. (I can't see a 180+hp remap still giving me 50+mpg like I get now) not to mention the fact that Direct Line probably wouldn't like me anymore

My worries could be unfounded of course :)

I think you'll find that Direct Line will still like you - they'll just want even more dosh ! And a higher excess. :(

Most people seem to recommend Liverpool Victoria or Greenlight. If you do a search you should find something useful.

welcome Mike.
