Checked screen this morning. Same white "line" at bottom about 3mm at present.

Car 5200 miles 3 months old. Will add to list for jobs at 1st service.

Update: Took mine into Newbury Skoda. They agreed with me but said that warranty claims have to go through Skoda and they don't think they'll authorize it. Had a walk through the lot and all their Skodas over a few months old were doing it, even the Fabias.

So... question, who has managed to get their windscreen replaced under warranty and how did they get it authorised? ..I'd quite like to get mine swapped.

Mine done at Chatham, Edinburgh. Don't know wether they had to get authorisation from Skoda but they never had any doubt that it was a wrranty job.

How wide was the milky white line on yours? If it is similar to how mine is I'll try to get them to swap it out.

Windscreen replaced, but ticket holder useless, yet another trip.

How bad was your screen? Asked them to look at mine and they've said that the warranty claims department probably won't accept my claim on the windscreen. It's not a huge problem, but as it'll just get worse might as well get it done now.

Kind curious what your invoice/paperwork says and if there's any mentioned of Skoda knowing this is a fault, basically so I can go to my local dealer with the same details to get it fixed.

For interest's sake both the windscreens on our Scout (57 plate) and 1.9Tdi 4x4 (07 plate) are clouding up at the bottom edge. I's only about 75% of the Scout's affected as yet but the 4x4's is mostly cloudy. The 4x4's screen is an Autoglass replacement (on the face of it a good job by the way) in August 2007 after an argument with one of the A9's granite drainage ditch stones kicked up by a truck.

The 4x4 is off to the dealer on Tuesday anyway (another story) and we'll see what they say about windscreen warranty replacement for both cars.

I've got the same on my 7 month old Octy, but as it's only about 2-3mm along the bottom edge it's really not bad enough to change yet under warranty. BUT, I think it's a good idea to let your dealer know what's happening and to get the details logged on your file pending a warranty claim if and when the matter gets worse.

I say this just in case a stone chip/crack occurs at a later date and then they'll tell you that it's an insurance job and that will cost you from £50 upwards.

Cleaned our Octavia yesterday and noticed exactly the same as others. It's six months old with only 3000 miles ....

Crikey, I noticed this a few weeks ago, but I am fairly sure it's been there since I bought the car six months ago (now 14 months old)...& when I noticed it was getting worse...a quick search on here revealed why !

On well, I'll add it too the last of things the dealer has to fix...after failing to fix the rest of the warranty stuff when the car was in earlier this week for a service (including the vibration on take off (1000rpm) & when blipping accelerator, the noisy drivers side suspension over the littlest of bumps & the misting of the windows)...I can't be bothered pursuing them over the loose door trim or the non cancelling indicators right now !

I'll let you all know how I get on !

Noticed this yesterday when I cleaned the car it wasn't there last time so has only started recently - maybe 75% of the base of the screen - worth letting the dealer know?

Mine has started too. I'll monitor it over the next few weeks to see what the rate of deterioration is.

Sorry to dig this one up, but thought I would just let you know I have had my windscreen replaced under warranty with no hassles, I had a small milky strip about 5mm thick running approximately 2ft along the bottom.

Well when I was in booking my car in for all the other repairs (that they didn't do the last time !)...I was told, they would look at it when the car is in, but they hadn't heard of it (aye right !) & didn't think it would be replaced under warranty...as glass is only covered for 'about six months' ???

Anyway, then the punchline, however if you are prepared to claim it off your insurance as a glass claim, we'll maybe cover your excess !!!

What do you think of that ! Next stop Skoda UK if the dealer won't do it, then maybe back to the Toyota dealer (to trade it in !), where they treat customers...like they should be treated...important people who pay their wages...sorry, but how did Skoda pick up all these awards for the cars & service ?!

Hi,

My car is just coming up for 9 months & I took into a VW dealer, they didn't ask any questions but simply said that its under warranty & that was it! May be worth trying another dealer & see what they say? As an added bonus for me I also had a crack in the original windscreen too which was right in the drivers line of sight - Result!

Can you take a Skoda into a vw dealer and they will carry out the warranty work?

Not 100% certain on this, but I'd say no.

Iam afraid they won,t:thumbdwn: i tried my local VW dealer to do some warranty work on my MK1 and the service manager said "definately not" it must be Skoda.

sounds like you need to visit a different dealer even if it means a hefty drive!

Sorry I should have mentioned that the VW dealer who replaced my windscreen under warranty is now a Skoda repair center too, they have just started working on Skodas in recent months.

So, I'm lucky, as Skoda in Portugal is sold and repared by VW.

My screens gradually getting worse. Just to bring this to everyones attention again. Are their any newish Octy II's without this problem ?

I had mine replaced although the tech from Skoda didn't want to replace it.....as they all do it :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I've seen 1999 Octy's with it so in 9years they haven't sorted it

Mine wasn't that bad but my local dealer didn't argue about it - just got it sorted. Mind you, got sealant on my headlining in the process of fitting the new screen.

Do you have rain sensing wipers? Was the sensor on the windscreen replaced when windscreen was? If it wasn't is it working okay?
