Message to car behind?

Featured Replies

I was being tailgated closely today on a wet road and wanted a way of telling the guy behind to pull back.

Then I thought of those scrolling message displays that you see in shop windows and discos. You can get them in places like Maplins.

If I had one of these things in the back window I could have it programmed with suitable messages like

PULL BACK YOU ****ING MORON!

do you think that would do the job or would I get a door kicked in at the next traffic lights?

Mmmm. Think we have all been there at some time. As much as i would like to stick my head out of the sunroof and tell them to back off, i find it easier to pull in and let them go.

One word will get them to back off when it pops up on one of them signs------POLICE

Putting your fog lights on usually gives them a clue, as they can't see feck all then, and tend to drop back.

In reality, and to avoid confrontation, indicate left and let them overtake, hoping they will crash into an oncoming steamroller is the best bet.

I give the rear fogs a quick pull on and then off. Usually they think it's the brakes and you see a great big gap created :P

Or alternatively let them pass :P

 It's the best way, IMHO. Why get upset?

I get it a lot whilst teaching. The learner and I have a good laugh as we watch their frustration building as we drop to 25, then 20, then 15.....each time with me politely gesturing them to drop back, and each time with us slowing even further. They usually get the message. Even more fun though with some learners I can keep this up until an obvious overtaking opportunity arises and before they can even pull out the vRS leaves them in its smog :D Very unprofessional, but it brightens my day a little and makes the learning a bit more fun for them :D

same prob last nite - I find that going to the highest gear and flooring it tends to teach them a lesson.....(cough, cough)

I wish I'd had one today - I was at a roundabout and a car (old bloke in a Honda Civic) was indicating right. I assumed he was going up the road I was coming out of, so pulled out, and it turned out he was going right around.

My mistake I know, but he was going slowly and I wasn't close - bit cheeky of me but no more I thought.

Anyway he starts flashing his lights and beeping his horn and continues to do so for the next two minutes while we drive through the town at about 40kph. I stopped at a crossing and he was still beeping and flashing.

I so wanted to get out of the car and go and tell him to grow up. Which would have been ironic I suppose!

I guess he was having a bad day!

He'll be dead soon...

Buy a fabia vrs, stick a hybrid on.

Then a light dab of the go peddle off boost and hey presto the guy behind has to back off as he cant se where hes going. Or breath for that matter  Also his performance will drop right off as his airfilter clogs up with soot :P

Unfortunately I sometimes find people dawdling along who 'think' I'm too close, so start slowing down, when the only reason I'm anywhere near is because they're going to blinking slowly. Oddly enough, the slower they go, the closer I get.

:D Thats what I do too.I'd love a camera on the back parcel shelf to capture the looks on their faces as they slam the anchors on thinking Im braking!:rofl:

Glad there's someone with the same sense of humour as me!:thumbup:

i found the answer by mistake :)

when i had my first car the reversing switch failed. me knowing naf all about cars simply found the wires and popped a manual switch in there instead ( i think you can see where this goes ;)) so when someone is sitting on my bumper. first set of lights or stop in the traffic, on goes the reversing lights. followed by me slightly revving the engine! they back off even more when i hit them while going along!! lol

Nearly spent a night in the slammer when I used this tactic with an off duty officer in his Alfa!!!

I wouldnt mind one of those signs

But the foglight trick will only work with cars that have 2 of them.

On a number of occasions whilst SWMBO has been driving under similar circumstances and we've stopped at traffic lights I've had the urge to jump out and open the boot and ask them if they'd like to get in... haven't done it yet though lol.

Yes, Id like to get out and say to them "im going to do a brake test next time you get close, do you think you will be able to stop in time!

Or, alternatively, just do a brake test!!

I'm the same. :o

Although down here, you don't tend to meet this kind of A-grade prat very often, so it's not a weapon commonly unsheathed by me.

I tend to ignore them

With the amount of cars with faulty or blown brake lights I don't think they would take the chance of it just being the fog light...:D
