  1. Appreciate it isn’t even Skoda related never mind Superb III but to conclude the thread... Today we put a deposit down on a Benimar Mileo 231. 20 plate, just registered on Thursday! It’s a Fiat Ducato cab with proper 9 speed auto box (new model without the horrid robotised “comfortmatic” gearbox). 2.3 litre Diesel engine, 150bhp 💨 There was 4K off in the “sale” but negotiated down another 2K plus them fitting a roll-out side awning included. The infotainment system looks pretty basic/cheap compared to ours in terms of GUI but it has European camper van sat nav which is cool - you can dial in your dimensions and any onboard hazards (flammable gas etc) and it’ll plot your route making sure you’ll fit / are allowed etc. Looking at some YouTube vids it also looks like it has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto too which will be a nice bonus if it’s standard. Full alarm/tracker plus a solar panel that can run the electrics for about 5 days from full before the battery gets low. So we can do a bit of off gridding but I’ve got my 4G router so I can still annoy you all with my posts 😉 Thanks again for the advice
  2. My first post at this forum. Yesterday I picked up my first Škoda. Coming from a Passat.
  3. Both tyres and tits are subject to inflation.
  4. Picked up my new (to me) Sportline last Friday. haven’t time to post as I’m going back outside to lick it once again. Yes I love it that much! 😁👍 ps. It’s been a while 😉
  5. How can a person called Alex misspell Axle?
  6. I didn't see any other photos than the ones posted, I didn't see any red lights, nor did I see any evidence that they were in the same lane at the start of the incident. Mechanical failure could cause sudden lane 2 to lane 3 deviation, or any manner of vehicle movement. You make the assumption that the Lamborghini started the incident in lane 3 and just stopped. What evidence do you have that you have not disclosed to reach this conclusion?
  7. Don't really matter what the "hook" valuation is, they'll knock it down about a grand (min) to 1500 at inspection

There are plenty of members on the forum who own VCDS, including myself. As I'm also in Norfolk, I'm probably not that far away from you depending exactly where you're based. I'm happy to follow the instructions given by ZacDaMan72. However, you have to realise that the control module software version do change frequently so although the instructions may be perfect for another Kodiaq, it does not mean they'll be correct for yours. I'll take the normal sensible precautions, namely taking an autoscan and also adaption maps from any module I make changes to. At least this way, you know what changes have been made and can revert them if needed. I cannot guarantee success but I can certainly take a look. Otherwise, you're more than welcome to try coding it yourself with my interface. If you've not used VCDS, I wouldn't recommend this option as its trivial to create problems rather than fix them Just to point out, any changes that either of us make are completely at your own risk. I am not a business and I accept no liability for any issues either directly or indirectly caused by using VCDS on your vehicle. Don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting any problems. I've worked on 10's of vehicles, including my own, without issue but if warranty and liability are something your concerned about, you should use a dealer or garage that's familiar with this style of retrofit.

You've got yourself in a pickle, Keith. Warning: what I'm about to write may annoy you. Take a deep breath and read it carefully, though. It's intended to help you, not "get at you". We understand that you have a problem writing. You need to understand, though, that when you write, people have a problem reading it. It might not be your fault, but it's not their fault, either. It really is difficult to understand you when you don't leave any gaps, when you use strange phrases, when you use punctuation that people don't understand, and so on. Just a small example: a single-dot-followed-by-space (full stop) has a specific meaning, that we all immediately understand, without even thinking. A row of space-threedots-space (an ellipsis) has a completely different meaning, that again we all understand. We really don't automatically know what nospace-twodots-nospace means, though. And therefore our mental process of reading comes crashing to a stop. We can work it out, sure - but that takes time and effort. It's not a matter of "grammar rules", it's a matter of what you write coming over as a dense mass of unrelated word salad. And the whole post seems to be said in one breath, which - strangely - makes the reader feel out of breath, too. OK, so you find it difficult, but unfortunately it comes over as bloody rude. If you walked up to a stranger in a pub and spoke like that, two things might happen: at best, they just would't understand; at worst, they'd punch you in the face. We can guess that that's not what you intend, but you need to realise that. You are taking people's comments as negative, when for the most part they have simply said, in a notably polite way, that they can't understand you. You've then gone on at enormous length on stuff that actually has no bearing whatsoever on the problem you have with the towbar. Yes, you're expressing your frustration - but that becomes frustrating for the readers! I hope you can get your towbar sorted.
  10. Thanks for sharing your experiences and wishing you both all the best with your new car. I really wanted to like the Zoe, but unfortunately had to rule it out for me as the high seating position and low roofline really doesn't suit my large and not particularly flexible frame and getting in and out especially in tight parking spaces would be painful and difficult. I've recently made the jump to a BEV and it is a very different experience from ICE cars. having driven mine for a month I briefly drove my partner's 1.2 DSG Yeti today, and I initially thought there was something wrong with it due to the vibration and power delivery.
  11. 2 points
My Yeti did not have prewiring or any trailer module, I fitted a cheap towbar and relay interface to avoid the bulb monitoring system problems, I'm quite happy with it but have read with interest all the heated discussions regarding the proper VAG fitment and stability systems etc. Browsing through VCDS I can see where the coding would be done. My question is what control module and wiring etc would I need to add to my vehicle to be able to emulate the towbar prep and to make use of the stability programs etc that exist within the vehicle?
  12. Gave the new car a wash and polish today. My process is probably fairly simple in comparison to others and all done by hand (although I do have a basic halfords machine polisher but the paint is in pretty good shape). Calm down a minute and note how well people have tried to answer you. You started the conversation by assaulting all readers, so things weren’t likely to go well. Initially, I’ll admit, I got as far as “Norm Opening” and wondered who is Norm, and what is he opening? Silver did a sterling (geddit?) job of translating for us, but you gave him no thanks, nor offered any confirmation of whether his necessary guesses were right. My comment about the hole was to suggest that perhaps it isn’t a genuine Skoda bar that you are trying to fit. Is it?

    Well done, Silver.
  18. We seem to have been waiting ages, and today was the day that the new Zoe was collected - our first BEV ownership. We ordered on 11 Feb and with CV 19 causing all sorts of worldwide difficulties, picking up the car today isn’t that bad really. The dealer called us in yesterday to complete the paperwork which meant that handover today was completed in around 15 minutes. Initial impressions are that the build quality is as good (bad) as expected, but the overall enjoyment of driving and features etc are better than expected. I put together a video of first impressions if anyone wants to take a look
  19. Hi all, As the title suggests, it's time for a change. I have decided to change the Octavia VRS as it now has 73k on the clock. It's been a brilliant motor with absolutely no issues. I'm swapping it for a BMW 530e, the company car tax benefits are too good to ignore, the way the car drives is amazing and I think it looks pretty good too. This really is the best forum out there and I will still lurk about as the wife still has a fabia. I think i will be back in a skoda in a couple of years, i really wanted the new VRS hybrid but cant wait and i suspect they will be a bit expensive when they first come out.
  20. You're right, but trust me it happens also when driving relaxed. Indeed, it is precisely when I drive relaxed that this "scares me" the most. With a sports drive I pay more attention and I have less problems when cornering. Good to know that with the right setup Superb can be funny (or at least not frustrating) to drive through corners too... I would have gladly bought such a car as a family car. But in Italy we have something called "superbollo" which costs you 20 €/kw annually for each kw over 185. This means that having an M4 with 316 kw you have to pay € 2.620 (131 kw x 20 €/kw) extra tax, every year. This for me (and many others) is an excellent reason not to buy these cars... But I can say I'm happy with the choice I made when buying this Superb!

Is this on your BZG? What makes you think it needs replacement? Tenth photo in this listing shows it just below the plastic coolant pipe going across the back of the engine: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-FABIA-5J-MK2-07-14-1-2-PETROL-1198CC-BARE-ENGINE-BZG-03E109211F/114141497188?hash=item1a935d0764:g:Eg4AAOSwZJReYOTa
  22. there are so many different ways the rear of the car got smooshed like that. so unless you have seen dashcam footage of the incident or ideally over head drone footage, noone is going to know how it happened until those involved's statemwnt are investigated. "ive never lost a wheel in a crash" as evidence of anything is utter codswollop.
  23. And have you ever investigated any collisions? Did the wheel come off during, or prior to the impact? Hence my mention of evidence to back up an assumption. Let the Police do their thing and wait for the result.
  24. There's no such thing as excessively shiny... I'll do it with the machine next time and see if I can get some more shine from it!

Fuel economy may improve a bit. depends on the insurance company. Ring them and ask them before you get it done. I had my 190 sportline 4x4 mapped by racingline. One of the more expensive tuners but very very good and reliable. A lot of money is spent on r&d and they also do lots of work for VW.. mine is now Running 235bhp and 540nm of torque
  26. Personally I've never fitted spacers because with the longer bolts required it puts a lot of stress on the wheels and some cases wheels have actually come off cars so it's not something I would recommend. Better to fit wider 8.5J width alloys which I have waiting to go on my car when I wear out the original 235/40 Bridgestone S001 tyres (which are OK for factory tyres) and have stickier Michelin PS4S to go which will give a slightly wider stance and even more grip.
  27. When you get your map fitted ask for the linear throttle mod. Makes driving the car more like a wired throttle so you have 1:1 input, as opposed to incremental. The car is so much more driveable and the engine feels more responsive. I did mine via obdeleven.
  28. Yeah, likely the skirts r making it look more. Mine has DCC, it definitely dropped 20mm as I measured before n after.
  29. I enjoyed reading through your thread, looking very nice, my favorite colour in a mk1 this
  30. If you contact your local Skoda main dealer they can use the "Volkswagen Management System" (VMS) to pull up a more detailed history of the car than the standard history they print out. There is one section that is the customer facing side of it which just gives you mileage and date and then there is another explaining absoloutely everything including warranty recalls and change of ownerships etc. Failing that just message me the reg and I can get this sorted out for you as I am a manager for Skoda 👍.
  31. 20mm front n rear. It's Eibach springs, which I put in a while ago.
  32. Picked up my new car yesterday, SEL IV. I regret not specifying the TSR function as it appears to also enable the Predictive Cruise control function. I could not find information relating to this before placing my order at the dealership and even Skoda Customer service could verify this. I am hoping i can find a way to get a software upgrade from a third party to enable these functions for me. The dealership are unable to assist. Any advice will be most welcomed.
  33. @J.R. weirdly it is just 2 separate uprights... lambo roll over struts above, from someone having an issue courtesy of my earlier google search. theres nothing joining them. different manufacturers have different versions, some build them into rear seat head rests. as for deployment id say they get fired by the airbag sensors, as a fail safe, not just on roll over
  34. No help with this either. I have personalsed keys (activated with VCDS by myelf). Searched the whole internet if I can recode the default drive mode, nothing. And lowedb is right, it all comes down to emissions.
  35. I saw! 😍 If I had the cash I’d have been in touch about it, thanks. If you still have it in a few months I might be in the position to give you a shout! I’ve got a mk2 sitting here with a towbar on it and wondered if it would swap over... 🤷🏼‍♀️
  36. Evening all, Drove 270 miles to pick up my car today. So happy with my purchase. It was a nice 270 mile journey home. 190 bhp SE L Exec Look forward to sharing my journey. Beerok
  37. There was a similar thread recently which might be worth reading through. It looks like your ABS sensor has definitely failed, which would cause the lights on the dashboard. I don't know if that would then cause the fault you are seeing on the ABS module or not, but someone with more knowledge will be able to give you better advice on that. Given that the fault on the ABS module is a Priority 3, and the faults on the sensor are Priority 1, my best guess would be that replacing the sensor would clear the fault with the module. If the ABS module had completely failed, I'd expect it to be a higher priority fault, but I could be wrong! Best of luck with it, and remember to post back once you have a fix / more information (helps the other members who have the problem in the future).
  38. On my 245 estate I went for Front assist, Blind Spot detect, Rear Traffic Alert, Folding Mirrors which included the dimming mirrors as it is a family load lugger I went for additional safety features. Really been impressed with the Octavia however the pull of a Golf R estate has lured me and the fact there is unlikely to be a MK8 R estate I am making the jump. Will be a nice 19plate estate on the market in the next 2 weeks.

OK, Keith, so we now have: it’s a genuine VW-group electrically-lowering towbar you’ve managed to fit it, physically it now needs coding, for the car to connect properly the dealer isn’t able/willing to do the coding you can’t do it yourself, because you don't have the equipment you don’t want an auto-electrician to do it. If I've got that wrong, please say so. if I've got it right, the question for the forum is: Have you fitted such a towbar, and how did you get it coded?
  40. Finally.....Gandalf is now complete that we have Skirts!!! Why did Skoda designers not put side skirts on the Superb?!?!? I've fixed them, in my eyes, with Rieger side skirts. 😊 Tis a few months of planning to get the things shipped half way across the world, only to have the courier lose it for almost 4 weeks!! Very happy with the quality and fit of the Rieger skirts 👍 Very happy with the paint job 👍 woOot.
  41. I have ordered the H&R rear bar for my 280 this morning so looking forward to getting it fitted at some point hopefully next week! Glad i seen this post and the reviews as it made my mind up to pull the trigger on one.

    I couldn't read it at all I'm afraid 😞
  43. 1 point
Blimey, your writing style is difficult to read, my eyes are stinging So, your Kodiaq has the tow bar preparation factory option fitted i.e. the wiring from the battery under the bonnet to the boot area? You've bought a brand new genuine factory equivalent tow bar and fitted it yourself? Since fitting the towbar it isn't working (by which I presume when you pull the switch in the boot the swing-down tow ball isn't releasing) and it has also disabled the Front Assist? The dealer claims it isn't simply a case of coding it, there is a fault somewhere? Dealers don't like a lack of fault codes, it means they have to try and work stuff out themselves which some of them find difficult, this has probably resulted in your wallet feeling lighter and the dealer keen to see the back of you. Find a proper auto-electrician would be my advice, preferably one with VAG experience and the proper coding software, or employ a trusted tow bar fitter to retrace your installation. Your money would be better spent with these guys rather than your local Skoda dealer. On the bright side you won't have to rip out the cars interior, the factory installed pre-prep should be sound, the fault (if there is one) is likely to be between the pre-prep and your work in the boot / bumper area.
  44. Sad and good news coming right up! 😂 The bad thing is, that I didn’t drop my Skoda, because the clearance is quite small, so my Skoda won’t live their life as it’s supposed. 😂 The good things are that.. *I didn’t drop it. 😂 *installed Forge DV adapter. *new windshield wipers. *ordered underhood silencer, I should receive it tomorrow. *played a little bit with VCDS and turned on Coming-home. Wanted to turn on day runing lights, but it didn’t work. Don”t know why. 🤷🏻‍♂️ *I was at CC Nation season opening, was totally good event, which can’t be missed. 🤟🏼 My current plans are to new spark plugs (just in case) and to build up exhaust system. The muffler is quite rusty and whole pipe also. As I like the sounds of Magnaflow, I will probably choose this brand. And another one is to chech turbo system, few wet spots, don’t know why, I hope that everything will be possible in closest future. Picture from CC Nation season opening 2020. Cheers!
  45. Hi CJL, For the June update, have you tried copying the PersonalPOI folder and metainfo2.txt file from the MIB2HIGH folder into the root of the SD card. This worked fine for my Octavia L&K MIB2.5 System. EU Speedcams MIB2HIGH June 2020.zip

I drove it and everything cleared. Sorry for any wasted time.

900 seems a little low for pulling away. The pd engine has great low down torque and allowed pulling away with little gas input. The cr engines are much more revvy and require more gas pedal to get going. Is it possible you just need to adjust your driving style to compensate?
  48. I didn't get that (what's a swear box?!) but there was A LOT of swearing of the worst type yesterday when trying to re-seat the strut in the knuckle, a process which is only referred to in most tutorials as "follow the steps in reverse order". It's not a reverse order follow at all!! Anyways car is lowered successfully now, i will be doing a write-up on the install as I have a few good tips to share that I didn't read anywhere plus a couple of things that are different when doing this on a Superb (all the guides and videos I had read were about Golf GTI's and Rs). Couple of quick and dirty comparisons: PS. I bought the Audi TT top spring pads to raise the rear by ~7mm and very glad I did as from the looks of it, there would be a bit of reverse rake if I hadn't and a loss of practicality for heavy loading. The full story of all the installation drama, the tips and tricks and the results and driving feel review to follow soon in a separate DIY-friendly thread. All I can say is that as much of a PITA that it was, it was so worth it in the end both visually and from a driving perspective. I expected the former but not so much the latter, very happy atm.
