  2. Not much in the way of change of late, just a deep wheels off clean.
  3. Mine. I have it 5 months now, the first 3 we were in lockdown and it didn't move much!

Just got the new Firefox Mobile app this morning. It's awful The end.
  5. My last car had an electric handbrake as well this one. Both wore out the rear brakes before the front. But, 19,000 does seem a little soon. Do You have hill start assist switched on? Easy repair for a small (cheaper) independent garage to carry out.

@Luckypants Or your Government and the UK one could do more about getting emissions lowered and not just talk about it. There can be plenty electricity produced in Wales and there is still a lack of infrastructure to store it or use it offpeak.
  7. This is probably one of my favourite shots taken so far! A quick visit to Swanage to pass the time, walking along the beach and saw this lone Sandcastle standing tall despite the incoming tide and rough sea

It only works if you think in Russian!!
  9. I've monitored the Fuel economy on my 2013 1.6CR manual 5 speed estate since I got it earlier this year. Without delving into figures too much, from my 160 mile commute each day I am consistently seeing between 620 and 650miles per tankful. The MFD. (Yes I know you shouldn't take it as Gospel) regularly reads Mid 70s, with an all time best of 84.5mpg on a long 55mph stint on the M4. Very impressed.
  10. Apparently corroding rear disks are now becoming common (with DSG cars especially) as the gearbox handles most of the gentle deceleration and the front brakes take most of the wear when braking. But yours seem rather early. My Golfs had to be replaced at its 5th year service (45,000) while the front disks are still fine. I'm told that drum brakes are starting to come back on the rear wheels to cure the problem.
  11. Hi there, I don’t know for sure it’s 80% - just going by what they told me and my own visual inspection that confirms that they “look” worn out. that does seem like good advice so thank you for that - feels a bit confrontational but I’ll give it a try. And yes, it was West End Skoda in Stirling... it just doesn’t feel right to me. Being that done in at 19,000 miles with the type of driving the car gets is very odd. Her last 2 SUV’s (non Skoda) have never had issues like this till 25/30k miles at least. My other car, a G20 BMW 330e MSport, gets driven much more spiritedly than this me Skoda and is on nearly 30k miles and brakes are perfectly fine as of service a few weeks ago.
  12. I think the auto hold only uses the rear brakes, and every time you set off some wear must occur before the parking/rear brake has fully disengaged. Also you can just set off from the red traffic light without disengagement of the handbrake with your hand. Both will contribute to rear brake wear. I don’t usually use the auto hold as I have to creep slowly into my garage and it makes this more difficult .😬 With such a low price differential I would probably go with the franchised dealer 🤪.
  13. @Cranester1983 ? Have you checked them & is that how you can say they are 80% worn? It is normal that Technicians and the Service desk staff try to upsell. I would ask the Dealership Principal tomorrow what the new Disc thickness is and what the technician measured your discs at today. & is that 80% worn. Offer to come in with the car so that the Master Tech can check the discs again. Fair Wear and tear and brakes needing replaced is fair. Premature corrosion and then technicians exaggerating the actual wear is par for the course a Skoda Main Dealerships sadly. PS Was this at West End Skoda Stirling?
  14. It's a 2016 model, supposedly been well maintained, I fill up full from the light coming on is around 48 litres

Quite agree. I do like Scotland though....
  16. Thank you Wino, that is so helpful, including the link you very kindly added.
  17. Just top it up with (tap) water, but record how much you add so that the proportion of coolant to water can be corrected after the leak is resolved. Low danger of it freezing unless you don't get it sorted for several weeks. If you do want to use de-ionised water it's widely available from any motor factors or even Tesco etc. If you have Amazon Prime this looks like a good bargain that you could have on your doorstep tomorrow: https://www.amazon.co.uk/CarPlan-DIW250-De-Ionised-Water/dp/B00FRIH094/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3T612FNFKARZ4&dchild=1&keywords=de-ionised+water+2.5l&qid=1598374696&refinements=p_76%3A419158031&rnid=419157031&rps=1&sprefix=de-ionised%2Caps%2C205&sr=8-3
  18. Inspired by Roscio's stage 3 efforts, today I have had fitted a 3inch centre exhaust section, in preparation for my stage 2 upgrade. The centre res has been replaced with this https://vibrantperformance.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=1527_1032_1054&products_id=292&osCsid=7314c85bb8343fbbdc280f8761ae5ae4 All in all the new sound isn't intrusive as I thought it might be, so I am happy indeed. 250 quid for the centre section pipework fitted, and 64 quid for the resonator itself. A local powerflow shop did the job.

  20. I"m not quite sure whether the emissions fix was done on my car although I'm inclined to think not? How would I find this out? Can I enter the VIN into a database to check?
  21. Turkey confirmed rather than Jerez, so we have ended up with a 17 race calendar. I must say sorry for doubting the Chief Executive a few months back.
  22. Thanks for the tip, I’ve got some on order now. 👍
  23. I thought when people referred to classic cars as money pits they meant something else. I'd keep digging, "there's gold in them thar hills"
  24. To be fair to your Aspmobile, the 335D is an epic car and only recently have any of its competitors produced something similar. When I got my C350CDI i really wanted a 335D but they were too expensive, I then looked at the 330D but it too was significantly more expensive than the deal i could get on the C350. In the end I loved the MB. It was an AMG lite sort of thing. Handled very nicely and was quite lively at the rear if you wanted to be silly (obviously I don't mean the full Chris Harris, but rather the things I think he calls 'Squiggles' out of corners)
  25. Results from using Brake Buster through the foam blaster and just letting sit then pressure spray off...
  26. I'm going to try this now

I agree and am now glad I didn't go to the expense. Besides, I'm getting along just fine with a weekly 2.3Kw overnight charge and occasional free top-up at the supermarket.
  28. I've had my Superb for just over 3 yrs now. I don't think the auto wipers are that great and I was always a little grumpy that intermittent wipers were not an option. After reading your post I did as suggested and this morning I was able to use them for the first time 😄. I know, I know, RTFM. Thank you 👍
  29. It could be the EGR or DPF sensor or anything. It would usually log a code if the coil/EML was illuminated. Make sure you are using a decent reader of codes for Skoda cars.

It would depend on individual vehicles or colour applications etc. It is expensive though. the only Person to apply it over here is Elite Refinish. You can look it up on Facebook if you have it. (I don’t, used wife’s). He’s on braniel road. think he’s uploaded a few videos showing the results and level of protection it gives. he might be able to give you a better idea of cost or other individuals in your area that use it if you message him direct. He’s the only sprayer in N.I that is using the P1 system so applications may be limited in most areas.
  31. Yes, our VIN put in that checker flags up that an action is required, consistent with our letter.
  32. These look good 👍, fills up the rear arch perfectly!
  33. This is mine which is the standard rear in sunset glass. Had the front windows done to match as well as looks half done otherwise in my opinion. Helps security wise as you can't see what is inside from outside but you can hardly tell from the inside as they are not that dark. Very similar to my previous cars which all had this as standard too, Golf, Passat and VRs Octavia.
  34. I tell you what Rob, this thread has made me realise a Quattro is an itch I really need to scratch.
  35. Don't worry about Tyrone, he can move when he has to........ I'm just on 6ft3, 13st and size 12 feet. Can't say I've any issue with getting in and out, nor the use of the car. I find I fit into the side bolsters very well. Not too loose, but not too tight. I sit probably a bit closer than I realistically need to, but I find the car easier to control with my arms and knee with a little more of an angle already in them

If your 17” wheels are 7J 17 ET45 5x112 pcd and have 215x55x17 tyres fitted there will be no problem.
  37. Well having upgraded my D90 for a D7500 towards the end of last year i never actually got around to going out and giving it a whirl before lockdown. I finally managed to get out on Saturday to watch a steam special so gave the new camera a go. Sod's law literally just a minute or so before she arrived it started to lash it down, as you can see from the pics. Anyway..... Royal Scot hauling The Yorkshire Rose tour to York in the rain at Grindleford, Derbyshire.
  38. I had to destroy the old boot catch/switch to get the microswitch out. It was just stuck down but works OK. The one from eBay is fitted and everything is now dandy.
  39. ok. But did you know that that number is inversely proportional to driving pleasure, right? pay no attention to it, in the end it's definitely lower
  40. After a long AliExpress wait, the lower engine cover finally arrived. Fitment was easy n it's sturdy 👍
  41. I ordered mine from Superskoda indeed. I’ve placed a few orders with them, and their after sales service can be quite spotty as mentioned above. I have a feeling that most of it comes down to the language barrier and not to unwillingness to help. I’ve attached a picture of what mine looks like.

I don't have a home wall box but can confirm that when ever I use a 7Kw public charger, the rate never exceeds 3.6Kw. Here's a screenshot from the AC charging section from EV Database.

You are perhaps missing the point. 168 miles more than covers my 30 mile commute and I have access to another car. Even if I didn’t I could hire an ICE or a longer range EV for the occasional longer trip. My other car isn’t an Mx-5 because I need more than 2 seats and space for a dog; rather than moan on mx5 forums about the lack of seating I’d buy something that met my needs, if I routinely traveled more than 160 miles I’d buy a car that met that need. It might not be an EV but I wouldn’t publicly declare all EVs as crap or all 2 seat sport cars as a laughingstock because they don’t meet my specific use case Also if the ice with 168 mile range had that small a range due to packaging and cost reasons rather than **** poor economy it would still meet my commuting needs, it would then come down to the lifetime cost of purchase + fuel to decide if it was a better deal than an EV. Incidentally on this point an eup vs an up gti would take me 6 years to become cheaper if I don’t factor in the lower service costs, the possibility of free charging at 2 charge points in town, any increase in petrol cost and the interest I’m not paying on the eup because I’m in Scotland. That was calculated with all rounding in favour of the GTI and on a flat rate Tarriff. before you come back that the battery won’t last 6 years its warranty is 75% capacity after 8 years which still meets my commuting need
  44. I completely agree. Shame on me Here are final installed pics Way betterrrrrrrr😀😀😀😀

my word but that is one FUGLY car 🙂
  46. Ok so i was able to retrofit lane assist without replacing the windshield i used a 3d print camerabox glued to the windshield. I made it only using OBD11
