  1. A mouseover says that's a page on ar$ebook . Wouldn't a real firm of lawyers have their own named website even if they were named say "Fleecem and Scarper"?
  2. Quite the reverse; WrecksIt has increased delivery times, when the UK supplier will still sell to the EU or an overseas supplier will still sell to the UK. What was that lie about "easiest deal ever" again Bozo?
  3. They're advisories; ignore them until they become failures. One one occasion I had "advisory; only 7mm tread remaining on front tyres". I'd had new fronts fitted 1_500 miles before the MoT,
  4. You sure? Not even a rising oil level or white vapour coming out the exhaust (both signs of HGF (qv)).
  5. /\ Those, or a fault with the steering angle sensor, most likely with the narrative "Steering angle sensor - implausible value".
  6. Well, IMO quad pipes are chavvy on anything but a V12.
  7. and 53.5% to the EU. I was right that she's lying by omission.
  8. @J.R. Are you sure you don't mean Plasticote then?
  9. Key word in OP "Plastidipped". No idea if that service is a thing in France or not.
  10. On the grounds of being cheap, I'd start with the alternator control wires. When you switch on, does the battery light illuminate? If not, good odds on (90%+) there's an issue with the alternator control wires. You may well need to recharge the battery afterwards, but there's no point in doing that first because you'll only have the charge in the battery, since the alternator won't be charging.
  11. More for the Australian members than anyone else. Which car manufacturers (if any) routinely send numbers of new build (unregistered) cars from the UK to Australia. I think the UK Trade and Industry Secretary may be lying (if by omission) or incompetent.
  12. @Papez @Trabbi - A crankshaft sensor (include flywheel sensors here) natively generates 1 ping per engine revolution. A camshaft sensor generates 1 ping every other engine revolution if it generates a ping every time the camshaft rotates. I think (but can't guarantee) that a Megajolt, Emerald or similar EMS can accommodate this in software.
  13. @Carlston - The fact that you are choosing to define the word "stretch" differently to everyone else in respect of wheel and tyre fitments does not make me wrong. Your actual technical point about ride comfort as you vary wheel sizes with a particular tyre size was never disputed.
  14. @Carlston @mikonk 8.0J wheels are 203.2mm wide. In no way is running those wheels with 235 tyres "stretch", which is running wheels that are wider than the tyres. A statement like that makes me question the rest of post 2 as well.
  15. That's arguable, but isn't knowing "localhost" geekier than confusing it with "home" which is user configurable and need not reference a specific IP address on every system.
  16. Odds on the thermostat element is cracked, dead or even removed by an ill-informed previous owner. In any event, when removing the housing to replace the element, look carefully for plastic in the outlet.
  17. Yeah yeah but how many miles has the car done since new, and how regularly did previous keepers service it?
  18. @MikeTheThinker - Could you do one that reads "There's no place like localhost"? For the ultimate Unix geek joke.
  19. Or the fuel feed, one or more injectors, traction control if applicable, drive by wire throttle if applicable...
  20. Well maybe. Is the issue there when you're turning on steady throttle, or more when you do brake, turn in and then try to pick the throttle up again? I had the second one, and it was due to wear in the throttle pedal potentiometer.
  21. Not being funny but have you tried an olde-fashioned "rock test" for wheel bearing wear? Based on discussion so far, starting with the OSF.
  22. Stop following blue Fords. That gives you some idea how noticeable the mark isn't at first glance.
  23. ISTR if only shortens the throw in the fore and aft plane. I also have no idea what you change gears like.
  24. Why would it? the 5W is what cold protection comes from, and even if 40 centistokes at 100C equated to 10bar in the bearings and tappets, that would be like 1010bar rather than 1_000bar from the 30cs with thin film effects.
  25. @Kharl - What sepulchrave said!! (irrespective of which of the 4 states of TDi tune "the guy" has; they're all different from the SDi).
