Yes sometimes they can still feel smooth when spun but it's a different matter when the weight of the car is on them.

They can get noisy without any play.

I had PSB ones on mine but found them a bit harsh. I changed them for Meyle HD ones. Went in very easily with a home-made tool.

If they are the originals I'm amazed that they would have lasted this long as the original factory ones were rubbish and most were changed years ago.

I don't like jacking mine on the sills. I jack it under the chassis using a rubber hockey puck on the trolley jack pad.

The motors don't get damp as they are not inside the door but mounted on a sealed panel just behind the door card. However, the drivers' side motor has a box that contains the electronics that control the whole shooting-match and those electronics can fail.
