Just 2 removal key at the bottomand then simply push it out, at the top there are smply some kind of snaps. Display and touch panel are two separate parts, just connected one over another, that's why touch works OK - IMHO display is faulty. If your unit is in warranty pls claim it with Skoda otherwise just buy the same unit and jest replace the front panel.

There might be different reasons. Pls check if th ebuttons backlight works when you turn the lights on.

@Wenny18 you have Amundsen MIB1 with DAB model number 5E0035874A, you must have your display and glove box unit replaced. Depending on your needs and budget you can install eith Bolero MIB2, Amundsen MIB2, Columbus MIB2 or Columbus MIB2.5 system. Unfortunately, you alse have Canton sound system so there is a need to replace power amplifier, too. For Apple CarPlay support you also need to replace USB port. yes, they can check model number in menu SETTINGS then SYSTEM INFORMATION. To have CarPlay support you must have one of 5Q0035840x / 5Q0035842x / 5Q0035864x / 5Q0035874x where x is a lter A (MY16), B (MY17) or C (MY18). If unit is different then yes, it's possible to change the unit for one that does support apple car play, all the other things will continue to work (car data, reverse sensors, etc) if new unit is properly prepared.

Probably laser in your CD/DVD drive is dirty or faulty. You can dismantle the unit, remove CD/DVD drive, disassemble it and clean the laser lens. If it doesn't help then probably laser must be replaced.

150€? Have you calculated cost of Skoda dealer services? Cost for Bolero MIB2 set (glove box unit 5Q0035840x + display unit 5E0919605H + USB 5Q0035726J) is approx 350 EUR plus shipping.

If you want to remain with MIB1 Bolero - yes

Glove box unit model 5E0035840x where x is a letter A, B, C etc. This is MIB1 unit. If you would like to get MIB2 then you shoul dget 5Q0035840x (x - same as bove) but in this case you must also replace the display unit and, if you want to have new features, e.g. SmartLink enabled, have the unit hacked.

@mrlittle I'm afraid file system in your unit is corrupted - such behavior is a typical symptom of it. Unfortunately, in such cases SW upgrade or downgrade is NOT possible - at least I have never been able to have it done. Assuming I'm right, you have two options: 1. replace the unit with same type - remove components protection and reactivate FEC/SWaP codes by Skoda dealer 2. retrofit MIB2 unit - such units can be hacked so on one hand you spend more money on new parts but you don't have to pay Skoda dealer for his services I'm really sorry but this is always a risk when running SW upgrade 😞
