  1. Exactly. Larger clearance at inlet is due to alloy pushrods, which expand more.
  2. If I googled right, AP is EA827 engine - closer to 1.9D AEF than 1.6 AEE, which is EA111. EA827 family is slanted backwards, in Felicia (and 6N Polo), the 1.9D was modified so it could be slanted forwards - I'm not sure if the same modifications can be applied to other engines. Anyway, both VW engines were mounted in Felicia through an adaptor plate and custom flywheel - they won't bolt directly to the gearbox. Also, the engine mount was different for VW engines. Look up old TeflonTom topics on various engines swap - He did Fabia's 2.0MPI with Skoda gearbox, too.
  3. Yes, SPI too, but only at the intake valves. Exhaust pushrods are steel.
  4. In theory, 1.6 AEE gearbox should be usable, too - it is shorter than the original, but still in range suitable for a diesel (around 2200RPM @90km/h)
  5. Both - AFH peak torque is around 4k RPM and power peak around 6k, so it requires pretty short gearbox for maximum performance. AEE on the other hand is like a diesel - in fact, Felicia gearbox has similar gearing to Fabia SDI. That's exactly what I'd like to see - as it would look from the factory. I think that the original filterbox would be fine even with a paper insert, it seems to be designed for a 100hp engine it's a bit unfortunate that you cannot source a shorter box - but Škoda put the AEE box to the 40kW 1.3 (only the 50kW variant had the short gearbox), so the AFH should be able to run with it, too.
  6. The one in the link is 532G. The index can mean anything from a minor modification to a totally different part. "With the ''temporary replacment" GM relay i had no lights and wipers although i could start-drive the car normally." That just confirm what I said before - no part of engine management is connected to the X-relay Edit: found the rear wiper relay right from the OEM manufacturer: AEV 2015 https://eshop.aev.cz/aev-2015
  7. Were the contacts perfectly dry before it's been put together? It doesn't take much when electricity is involved. Also, from the photo it looks like the rubber seal of the female connector is missing.
  8. It's relay with built-in electronic circuit, different than front wiper relay. I found it under PN 6U0955529 - not sure if it's correct.
  9. Awesome! Post some photos when you're done, please AFH Fun is something Škoda should've made. Edit: If you manage to find a 1.3MPI Felicia, get its gearbox. The AEE gearbox might be a bit too long for AFH.
  10. 1) ofcour, bad contact would cause it overheat or not switch properly. But it is not necessary for the engine management, quite opposite, its function is to disconnect (almost) everything except the engine. 2) it's similar, but the interval is preset and cannot be changed. One push activates it and other disactivates, but they are not very common, there's no indication and only one I've seen in person didn't work well and I had to remove it.
  11. 1/2) no, the only relay that has anything to do with the engine management is ECU is the fuel pump relay. 3) not exactly. It wipers the rear window in set interval (~5s), if you shortly activate rear washer. 4) unload disconnects electrical equipment that consumes large current, to leave more battery's capacity to the starter motor - namely heater fan and headlights, I'm not sure about others
  12. Felicia up to 1997 will fit. Felicia with airbag used steering wheel from MK3 Golf with an adaptor ring (6U0419514) but the steering wheel was deeper, so they had to modify steering column and switches, too - you'd have to do the same with any VW steering wheel.
  13. Do you have a picture? I'm not aware of any change in rear damper springs dimensions from early Favorits to the Felicia. But I think I read about early model dampers with separate cups - not sure if they were front, rear or which model year... VW VIN format has model year on 10th place. I never checked whether that works for Favorit, too, but you can give it a try. N - 92 P - 93 R - 94 Note, the model year starts in summer of the previous year, so MR94 was produced from summer 93 to summer 94.
  14. It is possible that reduced diameter is for the older model Favorit - there were changes on the front axle on 1993 model, although I'm not sure if there was a strut diameter change, too. Post 1993 models had the same knuckles as Felicia - and based on VW number, R_Blue's strut is the newer variant.
  15. The belt goes like this in the car, you need to move the pulley to the left (towards the coolant pump/crankshaft). You need a spanner to turn the shaft poking through tensioner spring assembly (yellow arrow)
  16. Yes, it's hidden under the alternator and routes the belt away from the crankshaft pulley and back to the coolant pump. Yep, these conversions usually used the pulley pictured on Joob's photo to wrap the belt around the extra pulley, but on the factory setup, it was used as additional support between the alternator and coolant pump, probably to reduce vibrations.
  17. Yes, under the alternator is a black cylinder with short shaft poking out of it. You need an open ended spanner to release the tensioner.
  18. No, it's how it should be, it's how it came out of factory. Grooves must not touch the pulley - but kits that added pump or compressor above the alternator often used non-standard solutions.
  19. That suggests that the green wire is fine and the new regulator does not work. Or there is high resistance on the cable and voltage drops once it's connected... Felicia should charge even with a blown bulb. There's a resistor paralel to bulb, which leads current to the regulator.
  20. I found something similar, made by a polish company https://e-heko.com/en_GB/p/Decorative-strip-SKODA-Felicia/4956
  21. On an LHD car, it's on the firewall, behind the instrument cluster. (Photo from the Internet). I'm not sure how much different it is on an RHD car.
  22. Design wise, side strips are absolutely necessary for any car that have large featureless side panels - like Ibiza 6L for example. Favorit has features that break large flat area, but the strips are definitely convenient on a parking lot. I'd go for 1st option.
  23. Check brake fluid level. ( ! ) symbol is brake system checklight. It might also hint an electrical issue, if the fluid level is good, as the light normally goes off during engine start.
  24. Check the connector that goes to the resistor pack ("controller" next to fan) and fan connector. They're not sealed, so water can get there and corrode the contacts and wires. Also, the resistor pack contains bimetal switch, which disconnects the fan in case of high current - caused, for example, by seized bearing in the fan motor.
  25. The factory strut braces were (supposedly) fitted to help control the front crumple zone - they were fitted on models with airbag(s), which have G-sensors on the center tunnel, so I guess it'll put more stress over that area on the Favorit in the event of crash (center tunnel and its connection to front chassis rails was one of the reinforced areas on Felicia). Not sure if it'll have similar effect during normal operation.
