Mk4 vRS estate spotted
ahenners replied to pist0nbr0ke's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
What you mean like every 6 years? -
Not actually that close. It's more the fact it senses you rapidly closing in on the other car within a few car lengths distance as opposed to being centimetres off.
-
You can have front assist without ACC though... As I have it. The location of the sensor moved on the facelift but I believe you can still have it independently of ACC.

Brand of diesel for new diesel driver
ahenners replied to Stevetewkesbury's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Go with whatever is cheapest/most convenient to where you live/work for filling up. All my cars have been run exclusively on supermarket fuel, predominantly Tesco (both petrols + diesels) and never had any issues. -
vRS DSG Front Brake Disc And Pads Lifespan
ahenners replied to Mence's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Bought my VRS at 14k, now at 57k and still on originals. Discs and pads still have a fair bit of life in them. My commute is mostly motorway without any significant traffic problems so I rarely touch the brakes. -
That's definitely an odd one, take it in under warranty as above. If it was a BMW you wouldn't have even noticed the issue

Great stuff! 😎

No probs, keep us updated. You have a usb drive in your pic is that not big enough to hold the update? Think you can do it via USB as well as SD.
-
Is the SD card you are referring to a Skoda SD card? If so, you don't need it. You literally just need any SD card or USB device with the map update files on it to update from. You'll never fit a Columbus update onto an 8GB device. 32gb minimum I think. With the Columbus the maps are stored on the storage built in to the unit. With an Amundsen you have to use a Skoda SD card as that holds the map data files but in your case this doesn't apply.
-
You have a columbus so maps stored in the unit itself rather than on an SD card. On SD card or usb (whichever you use to update) you need the MIB1, MIB2 and metadata file in the root of the SD card or it won't pick up the update. Also I usually go into setup from Nav menu, then version information and tap update for a map update, rather than going into the section in your screenshot. Not sure if this matters.

Looks smart. Can't be too many people buying a Passat with 272ps either so imagine it will be on the rarer side.

Does scout have a vaq diff ?
ahenners replied to 3rdoctavia's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
That's XDS not VAQ. I think the Scout has XDS but not 100% sure. -
Help - I need service parts!
ahenners replied to Bertieboy74's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
If you're referring to Mike Hindle and the "RPS" setup he runs, they are so busy now that he has an extra guy working for him. Think he's called Ross and picks up a lot of the order comms. I always used to deal with Mike but the last couple of times it has been Ross. Still all good though. -
+1 assume you mean MK4 rather than facelift. I think electric handbrake is a dead cert, not sure about a jumbo console box. As above until it's announced in a few months time everything is speculation.
-
My understanding is the LED strip itself has a dedicated control unit. Not sure what they mean by a control unit for the headlight, could be the AFS system, could be the ballast for the Xenon bulb, but I don't think it's the same unit.

"Thrashing" a brand new VRS!?
ahenners replied to SkodaVRS1963's topic in Skoda Kodiaq MKI (2017-2023)
Can definitely firmly put me in that camp. 10 mins down the road but I take mine elsewhere after poor previous dealings with them. -
Experience of using LHD/RHD headlight mode?

Was coded exactly as per this post and it's worked perfectly ever since: -
Dsg oil change missed at 40k Should I walk away.
ahenners replied to paulski's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Unless it's a particularly cheap car I'd look for one serviced to schedule. Going over by 8k is a fairly significant amount over, not 1 or 2k, and it's hardly a rare car. I think you'd struggle with a warranty on this in the future unless the supplying dealer was warranting any faults. Any warranty company will happily take your money for the policy, but at the point of making a future claim on the DSG box, service history will be the first thing queried and if it's not serviced to schedule the warranty company will likely use it as their get out of jail free card and not pay out. -

My clocks do change automatically using the Nav's GPS -

Which did you have it set to? Did it not change automatically with using the Nav GPS? -
Looking at the file names they suggest to be 1080p i.e. 1920x1080 resolution. Columbus is 800x480 and I don't think it can play 1080p files. Encode to lower resolution and try again.

I had a similar thing - bought from Cambridge but I live in the North West. Car was serviced and had it's first MOT just before purchase, but a year later received contact about getting booked in for a service and MOT. They clearly work off an automated system with future calendar entries. System updated following conversation with a human and never contacted again.

Kindly taken by my passenger yesterday morning. Wish I'd reset the trip computer 24 miles earlier....

Leaving Skoda but not this forum!

Looks awesome, love the colour too.
