  1. VW aint an option for me due to really excessive lead times. I believe a few major parts are made in Ukraine. So i was looking at the new Sportage as a PHEV. The new DS4. All really depends on price.
  2. Yes rejected but not picked a car yet , VWFS said tell us 2 to 3 weeks prior to new car delivery , they will then refund deposit and pick up the car. I will keep paying for the Octy till the new one arrives. I have had her for 15 months on a 4 year Personal lease. VWFS gave me £1k goodwill in December to stay and wait for the fix , that they said was 31at March. I waited till 1st April , contacted the dealer ,, who said no fix available. So then wrote to VWFS , said i have had enough ( current tech guy at dealer says i have 85 current faults ). VWFS agreed to rejection and apologised. The car is a D unit head with 1803 software and i believe due to the Ukraine war , that fix is now kicked into the long grass. Don't be a BETA tester paying full price for their poorly coded software. I always think , if i picked up a TV from Curry's and it had one fault even minor , it would be back in the shop same day. Why put up with a £35k disaster of a product at your own expense. I loved my VRS , it was the 2nd one i have had and im so annoyed it came to this and to the fact i wont be back in Skodas showrooms. Time for ELECTRIC!!
  3. Well the day came and passed , no contact from the dealer. So as i said to VWFS i would stay with the car till the fix and if that didn't happen then i would reject. Car is now officially rejected , i can keep hold of it till my new car comes ( Jan 2026 lol) So off to see what is out there
  4. Mark are you a personal lease VWFS customer? Easier dealing with the finance service than the dealer , who knows nothing or are told nothing. As long as the dealer has a record of times your new car has been in the dealer for repair. Mine in total 40 days off road in just one year, others have been without for months. So as said farewell Skoda and hello Hyundai with your 7 year warranty. Imagine the **** in these Octys after the 3 year warranty runs out .
  5. They told me in December to hold on till 31st March 22. I have had no contact and the car was n the dealer at the start of the month with indicator failures. The tech said the car was showing 85 faults. So on the 31st i will write to VWFS and terminate. Keep the VRS till i get another lease arranged and delivered. Looking at the new Sportage hybrid , time to stop buying petrol and getting 28mpg. The VRS was mechanically enjoyable but not really affordable at £1.69 a litre
  6. Hi Dave im in your camp , VWFS told me hang on to the car till the fix is " manufactured" ( their words). and have £xxx as a goodwill. If however that fix doesnt come they will accept full return but allow me to stay in the car till i get another
  7. Oh a wee update , so car is back in dealership and they tell me that there is an additional 85 error codes. The tech will be working through these , they tell me. Good luck techy man , clear 10 , 10 new ones. So as promised by VWFS if the fabled 31st March fix doesnt fix all , my VRS is gone. While i have been without my VRS i have been given an full electric Zoe. Its ok ,looks **** but doesn't cost £1.60 + a litre to fill. This car was provided by road side via AA, via Enterprise. Enterprise say they have no cars to rent and only had one car no one rented. Enterprise told me all their cars are rented, cant get any new stock. A rental company that cant rent cars , likened to a chippy without chips!! Anyway , i really want to move to full electric now as the VRS was just too thirsty for that black gold , doing an ave of 28mpg. Loved her while i had her but i knew in the back of the noggin that fossil fuelers are dead
  8. All week , i have been experiencing indicator fault. Check rear , left ,check front right . But when checking the lights are working but the indicator tick tick is going very fast. Any way back in dealership today.
  9. 1803 gave me SOS POP! Also auto called the emergency services. Plus sat nav still doesnt remember or save addresses, plus some other crap every day
  10. Ninja your post !! When i ordered my car in December 2020 , i had done my research , i had looked at other brands. I compared lots of different parameters, such as 0-60 ( I wanted a spirited drive), wheels, tyres ,MPG , ride quality and what the reviews said and many more. I took the time to see if it was something i wanted , i visited the dealers ( VW , AUDI SEAT &SKODA) , i took a test drive of a few brands over various weekends. I DID ALL THE DUE DILLEGENCE I COULD HAVE DONE!!!. I couldn't have forecasted the software faults and wouldn't even have thought that to be a problem as under the sales of goods act all products should be fit for purpose and free from faults. If i had known i wouldn't have picked the car . Why would i want to have a poor experience with a new car or any new product. I have had 3 previous Skoda's and they performed faultlessly . I never complained about ICE or DCC or sun f-in roofs , I complained that the car calls the SOS services randomly , freezes the info screen, changes user profiled regularly, never remembers last setup, wants to change user profile every start up, brakes when nothing is there , tells you your miles from your sat nav position. The list goes on The CAR IS F-D and that is no fault of mine . I am not a beta tester for VW group software at my expense. No F-in dice were thrown , i expect my product to be free from faults as per my rights as a consumer.
  11. The mpg will terrify a TDI'r. Town best prob 28-30, Motorway maybe early 40s and that is 60mph for many miles. But ----- the drive is sublime ,the feeling of the turbo lag and launch is a joy.
  12. Hi all i wanted to start a wee thread with system messages we all seem to get from the blue. Today a message comes up , High beam assist has been activated in the shop. I thought i had it as standard , i never visited the shop. My first year of connect is finished , wonder if its something to do with that? The car then went on to various pop pop SOS faults.
  13. I have reported many faults to the dealer over the year i have had the car. After the car started the SOS problem i contacted VWFS. I have a personal lease with them. I got through to the complaints department and listed the many faults i have encountered over the year. VWFS gave me 2 options 1) Immediately reject the car but keep the car till i arranged another from any brand. 2) Stay with the car till the 31st March when the fabled fix all comes out. They also offered a goodwill payment of £xx. I negotiated a higher payment. They said if the fix doesnt happen or the car cant be fixed its back to option 1 So i took option 2 as the market is way up on price and the waiting lists are huge.
  14. Hi Gav , how have you financed the car? , if you have personal or business lease i have so advice for you. PM me if thats the case
  15. I too have the 19"s on the VRS without dcc and the ride is very good, rides very smooth , my last car a Superb sportline had stiffer suspension
  16. No , Nope ,Nada. The fabled 31st March 2022 fix will save us all and the planet !!!
  17. Tell if this is correct , a tealeaf can enter your car unlocking using a gizmo but cant drive away? Q2 ive always wanted to know this. I leave my car running and nip into a shop for one min with my key in pocket. ( Disclaimer here , i dont think the Octy will keep running when im out of range) A thief jumps in and drives away. Will the car just cut out , grind to a halt or will it keep running. Imagine if the car was taken on the motorway and the thief gets away at high speed with no key in the car
  18. Hi Bomber . GY F1 SS up there with PS4S , Conti 6 downside , they wear fast on the VRS. Mine are just at 3mm with 8.5k. I replaced the fronts yesterday with F1 Asymmetric 5's due to better wet handling. I would also look at the Hankook evo 3 , just came first in an autocar mag test. The Bridgies are getting good reviews but ive never had a set that i liked. All in all 4s can t go wrong , save some cash A5's the only noticeable diff would be on track
  19. Hi John again , i would not rotate the tires as every tire (tyre) garage tells me that is not a recommended practice. Check this link out . Should be noted that Bridgestone suggest you do rotate. See the 2 camps again. Tyre Rotation - Current Recommendations | Kwik Fit (kwik-fit.com)
  20. John , i agree i would love to swap all 4 out for crossclimate tires but price is a factor. The swapping back to fronts is always a contentious issue and has been for years , some are in your camp some say keep the most tread on the rears. My rear tires have 6.5mm.
  21. The size of the Goodyears on the 19" come as 225 40 19 93y I am about to but 2 tires today but im opting for the Goodyear Asymmetrical 5 due to better wet handling
  22. In my OP they are the same , you will get an UHP tire from Goodyear, Bridgestone or maybe Pirelli. I got Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport . They wear quite badly and im at 3mm at 8.5k miles.
  23. I echo , Livesy above , go to a pro who has insurance and relies on customer feedback. Who knows who in the dealership will apply ceramics or other products. Double buckets , i doubt that in the dealership
