Tyre recommendations 225/40/18
Be careful with your tyre combination. You are using 2 very different compounds / rubber mixes on front and rear - summer and all-season/winter tyre. It will be o.k. on dry road but you can get very unpredictable behaviour in lower grip conditions. You have the tyre with less grip in cold and wet on the rears which can be fun but may lead to brown pants easily.

New Superb owner -Nav advice
If you google rns510 maps download you will get quite a few hits. I have used VW sites Mk5golfgti, my-gti.com. The digital eliteboard has got most maps and the maps tools. https://www.digital-eliteboard.com/forums/volkswagen-rns-510-rns-810.1425/ With GPS power just create a new profile if your last one was binned. They are probably useful for sat navs on other makes too.

Before you change anything on VCP or VCDS save the autoscan to your laptop. Post your autoscan on here.

Ac Fuse heating up
If the fuse heats up badly it suggests a high current through a poor contact. Clean / change the fuse blades and check whether the prongs grab the fuse properly. If you can measure the current draw of the AC. Your AC might switch off because something inside heats up and switches off as protection, but check the blower switch. It works with a big resistor to reduce current in lower settings for lower fan speeds. The contacts can corrode.

Key only part programed
If your "new" key is correct for the car - check PN, i.e. remote locking / alarm and the immobiliser you can get the car to learn the new key so that you can disarm the alarm and open the doors. I had to get a new spare. From memory with the car locked, put the new key in the driver door lock and unlock the door while pressing the unlock button. If the car accepts your key you will see the indicator flashing. The transponder can be cloned by any locksmith. They will simply copy the transponder from the existing key into the new one, so that effectively the car only knows one key - both with the same transponder.

Just curious
You might be lucky with the 3L V6, as the previous model had a 2.8l V6 fitted. It would be very tight and you have got nicer big bocks in Australia.

Seats upgrade.
Vw did a Passat seat when the SII was out. It was more supportive than the SII comfort seats. I cannot remember the name. That might fit like plug an play. You might get the Jaguar seat to fit with thefixings - if not put new brackets in -, but you will probably have a problem with the airbags and other controllers.

Cruise control display?
The file is from the German Skoda site. In the attached file look under GRA - Geschwindigkeitsregelanlage. Once activated when the CC is switched on, you should see the little dial where your kilometers are displayed normally. If it does not appear your car does not have it. VCDS - Codierungen Superb.txt

Sat Nav update
Or you use the SD card method. I find this easier and more straight forward than the DL DVD burning way. Download the Maps Tools program, download the latest or desired version of the maps, install the maps tolls and burn the relevant software onto an SD card and a normal DVD or even CD. When I was using the DL DVD burning method the units often disliked many DVDs which subsequently went into the bin. Maps Tools usually works straight away. The maps are in the forum. This is one of the sites where you can download maps from: https://www.gpspower.net/

Large family car recommendations
If you are looking at an Insignia you should definitely consider a Superb estate which is a few centimetres shorter but has way more room inside and the boot. I think Insignia estates have been discontinued and thus used ones are cheaper - not too sure, but could not find much recently on the Vauxhall website as I am looking to change cars. We have had a Superb II L&K estate 2.0 TDI for 5 years. It has been very reliable. I did look at the Octavia which has got plenty of room and a good size boot but not all the nice kit the SII had. Mondeo's reliable is worse, and so is the Insignia's. Opel / Vauxhall should improve now that GM is gone. The 2.0TDI 150Bhp is VERY economical and has got decent acceleration. A 2014 SII estate with fairly low mileage is in the price bracket you are looking at. If you go for the higher spec models you get more kit than is on your wish list. DPF - We do quite a bit of short journeys and not massive amounts of motorway and the DPF has not been a problem at all. Dual zone climate control - It is a dual zone between front left and front right, NOT front and back. That would be a 3-zone only available in newer and posher older ones. If you get a higher spec it will come with park assist and will reverse park you anywhere.

Retrofit autodimming mirror
As I had a spare autodimming / anti dazzle mirror from our Superb, I thought I might fit it in my daughter's Fabia pre FL. There are two types of autodimming mirrors which will fit - one with a small foot like the original Fabia mirror and the one for a RLS bracket. Mine was for the later. Parts needed: 1K0857511E - Autodimming mirror 3AA845543B - RLS windscreen bracket 4B0971833 - 6-pin connector 000979009 - Female crimp / terminal connectors to wire everyting into the 6-pin connector And wires Polyurethane windscreen adhesive - I used Autostar Germany PU 9000 Ultimate Windscreen Sealant 310ml. The pin outs for the 6-pin connector are: T6ay -Autodimming mirror /1 - ro/ge - to switched Fuse (ignition +15) /2 - Br - earth connection /3 - sw/bl - Reverse gear output, J519, XP1 T6o/2 (black) /4 - Wing mirror, not in use /5 - Wing mirror, not in use /6 - br/ro - front interior rooflight - I soldered a wire between the switch and bulb. Before you start check that the new mirror works. Connect it to 12v and earth and check the green light comes on. To remove the old mirror hold onto the foot and twist it. The RLS bracket and mirror will fit over the existing bracket. So you do not need to remove the old one. I prepared a loom from the mirror to the fuse box and J 519 above the driver's foot well and taped it with wire tape. I took it round the driver side A-pillar. To remove the trim simply pull the trim off. There are 3 metal clips holding it. They like to slip out. At the bottom you need to unclip the speaker connector. Pin 1 I soldered onto the cigarette lighter. I moved my cigarette lighter onto a switched 12V+. Pin 2 goes onto another earth. You can use the interior light, but ours was very short and I did not want to solder up there and wired it behind the dashboard. Pin 3 goes to the BCM (J519), XP1, Pin2 (T6o/2) Pin 6 as above to the roof light. This is a 12V+ into the mirror when the light is on. Once the wire is in, glue the bracket to the windscreen. Clean and degrease the glass well. The description says it has cured within 1 hour but mine was still soft and I left it over night. The new mirroe simply slides on. If it is a little stiff, use some oil on the mirror springy clamp. I did not use a harness cover – 1K0 857 593A, 1K0 857 594. I used shrink tubing instead. Connect the wire and put the trim onto the mirror. Time needed about 4 -5 hours.

Wiring diagram Fabia II
Hi, Does anyone have a copy of a wiring diagram for a Fabia II 2009. I do not know whether the wiring was changed with the update in 2010. I am looking for the fuse board and heated washer jets in particular.
