  1. I have done, no responses so far and I suspect I won't get any. Transport offices aren't seen on the same level as most offices. At my previous job, I was physically threatened by a driver and I took it to HR. HR just passed it to the department manager, who concluded no further action would be taken (it was caught on camera, but no audio). I left shortly after.
  2. Managers at my work: 1st one: I left early yesterday for a medical appointment. Cleared it with my manager first so no issues there. Came into work this morning to see an email from another manager saying "Seeing that WolfyWetsy has left already, I'll sort this problem out" (they had to change a name on a spreadsheet, hardly taxing) but what annoyed me was the wording and the fact they copied everyone and their dog into the email, which makes it looks like I cut off early. 2nd one: A manager said they would come into the office this morning to have a chat with us all about an ongoing problem. On a call mid-morning, and again with other people on the call, the same manager said "Well you have a pair of legs so why haven't you come to see me?" and glossed over the fact they would come to us because we're all busy. I raised the issue we're all trying to solve the problem, but they just responded "I'm not having an argument about this, sort it out." 3rd one: Got a phonecall from a higher-up who had a problem and wanted some help. I tried to help, but couldn't. Said person then starts giving me loads of abuse down the phone ("you're effing-useless, know your effing-place etc) to which I said "I'm busy trying to sort this out but if you can't be civil to me, I'm not having this conversation" and hung up. I then got called in my manager and given a formal warning for 'being rude' by hanging up. Told them what had happened, and they just brushed it off and said I musn't do it again. I really need to update my CV.
  3. How did you get on, the car going back for a full refund?
  4. Went to a local viewpoint to have lunch (Brindle Viewpoint) and got approached by a very tame cat. Meowed none stop, but sounded quite raspy. Was clearly very hungry so gave it some sausage roll meat. NOt much near the viewpoint, and something felt a bit off with the cat's behavior so looked at the tag on the collar and saw a phone number. Rang the number but no answer, so sent a text saying "Not sure if you have lost your cat IVY, but have found it at Brindle Viewpoint". 30 minutes later, once I'm back in the office, the number rings me and turns out they have lost their cat a few weeks ago. Sent over details of where I found it (used a Google Map screenshot and gave directions, and also sent them a photo of the cat I took). Made me feel quite happy that, on a whim, I may have helped someone find their beloved pet. Not heard anything else, but fingers crossed they find it.
  5. That is an excellent suggestion and would work if it was square, unfortunately it's 800mm wide and 660mm deep, so I can't
  6. Built a log store from scratch ver the weekend, and then finished it off yesterday evening. Just need to stain it for weather-proofing. Should keep the patio clear of logs/wood and chuffed to bits with it Total cost of the the wood was less than £50 too!
  7. 29C today where I work and our office has no air-con and gets sun 90% of the day. In short, it's an oven. Bought a box of Lidl fake-magnum ice-creams on my lunch break, and not sure I've seen my co-workers look so happy all week.
  8. I wore a mask religiously during lockdown, but now I'm double vaccinated along with all my family, local friends and other half, a mask is now worn 50% of the time (if the shop is busy, for example). We both do lateral flow tests to do before we meet people for a pro-longed period of time (such as having someone round for a BBQ).
  9. My office doesn't have Air conditioning, so we make do with desk fans and liberal use of the water cooler. Left work yesterday around 5 and the car recorded 30.5 (BBC weather said it was 27). Cornetto's help too. Most annoying part is it's glorious all week, but going to tip it down at the weekend
  10. I've always found Spoons is reasonable for what it is. If you're after a cheap night out/place to start a night out, it's often big enough for everyone to meet up and will (mostly) have something to suit everyone. Same with the food, it's great if you have a large party and want something cheap-n-cheerful. Only time I've ever had a bad experience in Spoons was trying to watch Six Nations (their "big screen" was a 32" near the door) so went to a local pub instead. On the whole though (and as I've got older) I generally go to the local pubs instead of the big chains like Spoons. On topic, I supposed the best protection is to invest? But in what exactly is the question and having just bought a house, I don't have much cash to sink into anything else Might have to start scouring the local carboot sales when they came back, to try and find that elusive priceless antique priced at 50p but it's worth several million... Money in the bank seems sensible enough, but with Interest rates are pitiful at the moment I'm trying to take full advantage of the various 3% savings accounts that pop up. You have deposit and payment limits mind, but 3% of the £3K max is still better than 0.01%.
  11. Had a text from someone who I've not spoken to for about a year, and it simply said: "You guys free for a visit xx I'm out on my bike and i'm bored lol" I'm not sure why it annoyed me exactly, but it certainly struck something. Maybe because they didn't ask properly, or because it seems they only want to come over to cure the boredom so we're a last-resort type dealio. We used to be quite friendly (lived near them in the old house) but started to drift apart when they started asking for money to buy fags until the benefits came in (honest to god that's true) and we started to get fed up of the constant drama and increasingly far fetched "stories". It stopped being a friendship and just became a chore, with 99% of the effort from our behalf. Who needs all that noise in their life
  12. I just prefer the egg-shaped one and the red ones that get hit with bats
  13. Bought a belt from House of Fraser, had the one I wanted and the right size. Arrived in a damaged tin and had what looked like white mould over it (yuck) so sent it back for a replacement. Replacement arrived, but was also covered in the white spots (not on the leather outer, but on the inner). They wiped off but still sent it back for a replacement. Who wants something mouldy? 3rd replacement is lost by Hermes, initially. A week later I get a notification to say it has been delivered, but the photo shows the bag folded up through the letterbox (photo doesn't show whose house it is either, just says "Delivered to neighbour"). Retrieve parcel, and see that the bag has clearly been ripped open after it's been sealed, and there's 2 perfect boot imprints on the bag. The belt comes in a tin quite similar in size to a watch tin, so I suspect someone thought it was a watch and robbed it. Raise the issue with House Of Fraser who give an immediate refund. Raise the issue with Hermes, and they try to ring the driver once, then close the case as he doesn't answer. Tried to contact them several times, but never get a response. tl;dr Hermes are (what rhymes with) Wucking Fank.
  14. 2nd Jab booked for this Sunday at the St Helens Rugby Ground. Pulled forward by 2 weeks too, so that's a bonus!
  15. I'm the only one in my office who isn't hungover today
  16. I grew up listening to my Dad's music (Status Quo, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd etc) so that got me into rock music when I was a teenager. I didn't really progress into metal until later on, mostly whilst at University and going to Rock clubs (Rock City being the main one). The big opener (for lack of a better word) was going to festivals like Sonisphere and Download. Through those, I got into Airbourne, Clutch, Shinedown, Iron Maiden, Rammstein and others but also got to see Metallica, Korn, Slipknot, SOAD et al. As for seeing bands live, it'd be easier to just list the fesitvals: 2010 - Sonisphere 2011 - Download 2013 - Download 2015 - Download & Leeds (Metallica, Beartooth and a few others at Leeds) 2016 - Download 2018 - Download
  17. I keep getting random mobile numbers call me, who either hang up as soon as I answer or I get a few seconds of static then they hang up. Ringing them back it always gets diverted to voicemail. I've had 3 in 10 days.
  18. I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but I've just had a text and email to say my 2nd jab has been cancelled. No reason given, just straight up "Cancelled, you need to re-book".
  19. I'll have my car for 3 years in February, and so far (touch wood)it's been without major issues, certainly nothing like you've mentioned. It's had a few small problems (if you can call them those, plus the car is 7 years old, so...): Timing chain tensioner needed to be replaced as it begun to rattle when starting, but that was a relatively quick fix by a local garage. The front passenger window mechanism gave up one day with a loud bang, so the window remained shut until it was replaced. Again, a relatively quick fix (once they got the right part) by a local garage The panoramic roof cracked from a stone chip (I think? No idea really) and had to be replaced, but that was done through insurance so only cost me the excess (at a total cost of £1500+). As @chrisgreenmentioned, it is a bit of a noisy car in terms of rattles and whatnot. There's quite a few threads on here about them squeaking over bumps.
  20. From what I've seen of it, I'd be very surprised if anyone on here is a member Mostly seems to be teenagers meeting in carparks.
  21. On my drive back into the office, I pulled into a carpark to have my supermarket sandwich and a short break from driving. Just had a £60 fine through the door for failing to pay for the carpark (ANPR camera on the entrance/exit). That was one expensive sandwich stop!
  22. A fountain of knowledge! Thanks for your info and your suggestions, I shall have a look at them!. Can't say I have ever experienced that. Assuming (perhaps incorrectly) it's a completely digital dash?
  23. Oh sorry! Hah, my mistake. General use really. Have cycling ones already (Flak 2.0 XL) and a pair of polarized Holbrooks for driving.
