  1. The way it reads you don't fully remove the bolts just undo them then drop the alternator out the bottom of the bay Release screws -arrows- (23 Nm). Vehicles with 1.2/1.4 TSI and Common Rail engines: – Remove AC generator downwards. Other vehicles: – Remove AC generator upwards. Install Installation is performed in the reverse order, pay attention to the following points: – For easier mounting move the threaded bushes -A- approx. 3 mm -arrows-.
  2. That was from the dealer manual and I must admit it does seem a waste to cut a perfectly good belt, maybe if you could source the special tool T10367 you could remove the belt with it ?
  3. Removing and installing V-ribbed belt for vehicles without air conditioning system Note The repair kit includes the V-ribbed belt, the assembly tool -T10367- and an illustrated work procedure → Electronic Catalogue of Original Parts. Removing –Remove the sound dampening system →Body Work; Rep. gr.50. –Remove the right wheelhouse liner bottom part →Body Work; Rep. gr.66. –Cut through V-ribbed belt. Install Installation is performed in the reverse order, pay attention to the following points: –The following work procedure is described in the illustrated work procedure from the repair kit. –Start engine and check ribbed V-belt run.
  4. It's a legacy thing from the days of carburettors aimed at stopping carb icing under certain cicumstances, so at £50+ for something that doesn't do anything to aid the running, just do as @TMB says and delete it
  5. Part # 049129627T (not cheap) https://www.lllparts.co.uk/product/vw-audi-hose-genuine-vw-audi-049129627t/id/469839
  6. It says to leave the lower cover in place to remove the cylinder head & the camchain tensioner can be reset without removing the cover by removing an access plug on the lower cover. On an installed bottom cover for timing chain, the slackened chain “can”“not” skip the crankshaft. –Remove camshaft timing chain from the chain sprockets and place downwards. Caution Risk of damage to the valve drive and the bottom cover for the timing chain! tIf the camshaft timing chain was removed from the chain sprockets, the crankshaft must no longer be turned. tPanels are attached to the bottom cover for timing chain, which prevent the chain from slipping off. If the crankshaft is turned while the chain is slackened, the panels may bend. Tensioner reset Lift the locking wedge of the chain tensioner. For this step, insert a scriber or a suitable screwdriver into the hole of the chain tensioner -direction of arrow 1-. –Turn the crankshaft in opposite direction of rotation of engine -direction of arrow 2- while the locking wedge is raised and secure the chain tensioner with the rig pin -T40011 -. –Turn the crankshaft back to “TDC for cylinder 1”.
  7. VCDS/VagCom has a section called measuring blocks, and by scrolling through them you'll find the signals you are looking for and if it's the latest version if you hover the mouse pointer over the relevant block it with give an expected Hi & Lo figure
  8. @roottoot the 0~60 & 40~60 acceleration times don't look bad but the quoted deceleration times if correct @ 60~0 just under 1hr & 60~30 13.6 minutes means you're going to need to anticipate coming up to a junction in good time !!
  9. You do not say what year your car is ? but for a 2011 1Z5 with CCZA the drive gearbox codes listed are:- KPV, LQZ, LTL, MMA, MSY, NJL, NLR & PBH all 02ED series gearboxes
  10. Looking at the dealer manual you don't disturb the main engine mounts when just removing the cylinder head, there are a few specialist tools required mainly for the camchain tensioner and sprockets Special tools and workshop equipment required Assembly tool -T10352- or assembly tool -T10352/1- Counterholder -T10355 - Rig pin -T40011- Support -T10014- Socket insert -T10070- Lifting device -MP 9-201 (2024A)- Workshop crane, e.g. VAS 6100 Sealant remover gasket stripper (bearing code GST, part number R 34402), manufacturer Retech s.r.o. Install the holder -T10014- with 2 small and large washers each on the cylinder head, as shown in the fig. 1 -M8 washer, small 2 -M8 washer, large The outside diameter of the washer must be larger than the hole in the holder. 3 -Screw M8 x 30 –Hang the lifting device - MP 9-201- in the holder -T10014- and in the front left lifting eye at the cylinder head. Hook the lifting device - MP 9-201- in the workshop crane and slightly raise the cylinder head. –Unscrew the last two cylinder head screws. Caution tCarefully lift the cylinder head upwards until the sliding rail of the camshaft timing chain is free. tThe tensioning and sliding rail must on no account be damaged.
  11. I recon that once that fancy outer case is off it's the same basic lock unit that has been used on most VAG models since 1994 and can be repaired using the same kits on eBay ??
  12. I've been thinking about how the sport is going and I think since Liberty media took over and said it wanted the sport to become easier for the fans to get more behind a driver/team ( more akin to mainline US sports) like by insisting they don't change helmet designs in a season so it's easier for the fans to easier identify a driver again more like in mainline US sports and this has run over into some of the stewarding decisions of late,, in the past a driver might of exceeded the track limits but the stewards decided that he didn't gain any real benefit so gave him the benefit of doubt but the US viewers don't understand this leniency and want hard/fast rules that they can understand ?
  13. Full list of drivers who had their lap times deleted: Pierre Gasly (four) Lando Norris (four) Zhou Guanyu (four) Sebastian Vettel (four) Mick Schumacher (three) Lance Stroll (three) Carlos Sainz (three) Lewis Hamilton (two) Charles Leclerc (two) Nicholas Latifi (two) A Max Verstappen (two) Yuki Tsunoda (two) Daniel Ricciardo (two) Alex Albon (two) Kevin Magnussen (two) Sergio Perez (one)
  14. Wasn't just Versatappen https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/f1-drivers-call-austria-track-limits-bit-of-a-joke-after-43-incidents/10336647/ 43 cases of exceeding track limits
  15. I can see Vettel walking away at the end of the season after this https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/62108286 I can also see the FIA banning or restricting the use of the flares used by the Verstappen fans due them causing low visibility problems and likely to be even worse at the Zandvoort or Spa events ?
  16. The gravel traps in general do the job they're intended to do ie slow the cars impact with the tyre wall and so reduce the G force to the driver, in this case unfortunately it resulted in flipping the car and I think from looking at the pictures the biggest problem was the distance from the tyre wall to the ultimate catch fence, if it was at least a cars width away the car would of in a better position to extricate the driver ?
  17. I wonder if they'll have a re-think on the gravel traps as the car was relatively fine till it hit the gravel and that's what flipped it into the horrifying rolls ??
  18. Have a look at this https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/262215-list-of-vcds-owners-previously-known-as-vag-com-vcp-owners/ There are a couple near you
  19. How about an Octy Scout ? the 4wd might be an advantage in the winter months ?
  20. I see they are overnight stopping 1/2 mile from me, now if it were proper rally cars I'd go and have a look but a load of milk floats doesn't warrant the shoe leather
  21. Have a look at these https://www.vehicleclips.co.uk/search-by-model/skoda if it's not listed under the Skoda tab try one of the other VAG definitely more listed under the VW tab
