3 Month Old Tyre Bulging
Near side tyres tend to wear faster than offside tyres. So try to fit the better tyre to the near side when not fitted in pairs. A bulge in a tyre is an MOT fail. Just send Pirelli a photo of the tyre ( the one above in your first post ) and they will tell you if it is worth sending them the tyre to inspect. Thanks. AG Falco

Engine fans come on when heater control is turned on
Have you tried it with the AC off? Some cars turn the fans on when you turn the AC on. Is the water temperature sensor working correctly? Can you see live data via the OBD port on the water temperature? Thanks. AG Falco

Lights/bulbs
No. But some people have found it hard. See this post for help:- Thanks. AG Falco

3 Month Old Tyre Bulging
There is an industry standard form to fill out that I can email you, but not until Monday. The process can take months for you to get an answer. Michelin have just started using their own method using a portal and photos. ( even harder than the form. ) It will be from impact damage. You only need to runover a stone that is 1-2 inches high just on the one sidewall edge for this damage to happen. So you don't feel a bad thump like when you go through a pothole. I see this regularly. As Toot said:- As quoted to me;- 'Aesthetic looking wheels / tyres are expensive.' Thanks. AG Falco

So, What Would YOU Do, With This Heap?
Was this new battery coded when it was fitted? Have you smart charged the battery? On the way to work in the morning after 10 miles I can stop at a set of traffic lights, the stop start normally works. On my way home in the evening after 12 miles my stop start almost never works. 😕 There are many things that can affect as to whether the stop start will work. If I have the AC on and turn the fan speed up to 3 the engine will re start if it had stopped. The TPMS does NOT measure your tyre pressure. Read this post:- Can be turned off. Yes. Once the car has been started it is rare to have the battery fail. Was the alternator tested at the time? Low Voltage? Suffer from low voltage battery. Go to another one. Looks like the correct battery to me. Is the boot light on when this warning comes on? You need to look in the boot without opening any door or the boot. I would get a Smart Battery charger and charge the battery first. 🙂 HTH Thanks. AG Falco

Handling upgrades
In the UK many people grew up with imperial standards, eg PSI for tyre pressures. Most of these people will now be older and possibly have poorer reading eyesight. They then look at the tyre pressure figures, don't see the . and also think this is PSI, not knowing what Bar is. I have come across several instances of this. Don't forget most posters on this forum will be interested in cars and have more knowledge on motoring aspects than 'Joe Public'. Thanks. AG Falco

Handling upgrades
They miss the . So end up with 25 PSI. Thanks AG Falco

Servicing suggestions
Since you have to remove the air filter ( on a Fabia III and Citigo ) to change the spark plugs, I have done my air filters at 40k miles. They were fairly clean but one did have one small leaf inside. Thanks. AG Falco

Depreciation heavier than I expected on my Mark 3 Fabia estate.
Second hand car back in July 2022 had high prices. Is the biggest cost in motoring. ( normally ) Bought a Peugeot in 2005 for £200, traded it in in 2009 and got £3200 for it. 😀 If I were you I would:- Keep the Fabia, ( until about 5 years old ) Get the extended Skoda warranty to cover the car for years 4 & 5. ( to stop you worrying ) Depreciation per year will will then be less per year than trying to sell it now after only 6 months. My Fabia III is 6.5 years old and has done 69K miles. All still working, nothing has broken. It has had just the regular servicing done and some tyres. It has passed 4 MOT's with no advisories. Brakes are now past half worn, so might need changing at 100K miles. Still like the car. Thanks. AG Falco

Lights/bulbs
Exactly what I fitted 6 Years ago. No warning lights have ever come on. Apart from when one bulb failed/stopped working, so the car did the correct thing and warned me. No problems with four MOT's the car has had. This was worth doing on my car. You have been fed some BS, me thinks. Thanks. AG Falco

Warning lights coming on
Is it suitable for charging an EFB type Battery? The EFB batteries want a little more/higher voltage than a normal battery needs to charge up. Thanks. AG Falco

Battery Recoding?
Correct. I don't know if he was assuming if it was a normal or a Stop/Start EFB battery. It was also because of the posts made by Koro ( above) just to confirm to anyone else reading this, that a wet ( sloshing ) lead acid battery can be both a normal or an EFB stop/start battery. But as you say if someone is using VCDS then a Wet battery is different from an EFB battery even though they are both wet ( inside ). 😕 I have had people assume all Stop/Start batteries are not wet and all wet ( sloshing ) batteries are not Stop/Start. Thanks. AG Falco

Depreciation heavier than I expected on my Mark 3 Fabia estate.
Correct. I approximate a car will depreciate by 50% every three years. eg:- Bought new for £24K At three years old it will be worth about £12K At six years old it will be worth £6K At nine years old it will be worth £3K. At twelve years old it will be worth £1.5K The Skoda Citigo I bought in Nov 2021 as an example. This was found via Autotrader and bought from a dealer. There is one on Autotrader ( yesterday ) that is the same as mine. eg 2018 1 Owner FMDSH at 42K miles. It is for sale at £500 more than I paid back in Nov 2021 but mine only had 32K miles then, and has got 42K miles now. There were many examples for more money but these tended to have less mileage. I think small cars are holding their prices better than large/expensive cars as many people think of downsizing in the present climate. Thanks. AG Falco

Battery Recoding?
If you shake an EFB ( Enhanced Flooded Battery ) you WILL hear the liquid sloshing around. EFB type batteries are fitted to the Fabia III's AGM ( Absorbent Glass Mat ) don't slosh around. ( Haven't seen one fitted to a Fabia III ) Both are Stop/Start type batteries. Shorter battery life. But this wont be for several years. Someone with OBD11 can also recode the battery. Thanks. Depreciation heavier than I expected on my Mark 3 Fabia estate.
Deprecation is worse when the car is newer. The price on second hand cars bought over the last 1-2 years are / were high because of high demand at the time. Just look at the lack of choice of new smaller cars you can buy new now, compared to 3 years ago. If you want low deprecation on a car then what I try to do is:- Buy the car new with any extras you need for a little as possible. Keep the car long term. Look after the car with the plan to keep it long term. Two examples:- Bought a new Peugeot 307 in 2003 for £10K. About 25% under list price. Sold in 2016 for just over £1K at 130K miles with everything still working. So a 90% deprecation over 13 years = 7% per year. Car is still in use today. Bought a new Fiat Panda in 2009 for £7K. Scrappage deal bargain.😁 Still have the car and everything still works at over 130K miles. If scrapped for £0 it will have deprecated 100% in 14 years = just over 7% per year. Thanks. AG Falco

Citigo service light
Has it even got one? It would appear the answer is yes:- The service interval display in the display of the instrument cluster will notify you when a service is due. But it might depend what display you have:- Prompt in the MAXI DOT display Before the next service date has been reached, the symbol as well as a message about the mileage or days until the next service event appears in the display after switching on the ignition. Once the service date has been reached, a message appears in the display after the ignition is switched on. Prompt in the segment display Before the next service date has been reached, a key symbol and the remaining kilometres are indicated on the display for several seconds after switching on the ignition. Once the service date has been reached, an acoustic signal will sound when the ignition is switched on and the symbol will be displayed for a few seconds. On mine I used OBD11 after I bought it to see when it was last reset. Thanks, AG Falco

Timing belt
This is from VW :- Service Training Self-Study Programme 511 The New EA211 Petrol Engine Family Design and function On page 13 it has :- Toothed belt drive The camshafts are driven by a maintenance-free toothed belt. It is tensioned using an automatic tensioning roller, which uses contact shoulders at the same time to guide the toothed belt. An idler roller on the tension side and the special shape of the camshaft sprockets in the 3-cylinder engine, or camshaft gearwheel in the 4-cylinder engine respectively, ensure that the toothed belt runs smoothly. Your guess is a good as mine. I have looked at my belt and have not changed it. Fabia III, 2016, EA 211, 1.2 TSI, 68k miles. Thanks. AG Falco
