How To: Retrofit a heated steering wheel to a mk3 Octavia
Did you code in the wheel though or just heated seats. What ApertureS was saying is, if i just have seata coded then it won't display the seat level on infotainment. However if code heated wheel as well as seats then it will display both on infotainment. I had it displaying but had an issue with my control panel. When the sync button was pressed, both temps were being operated by passenger dial and not drivers. I tried changing it from left to right hand drove. Didn't do anything. Plugged my old unit back in and coded RHD again, then randomly when plugged new panel back in sync was correct. But it was after this i noticed the levels had gone from infotainment.

How To: Retrofit a heated steering wheel to a mk3 Octavia
Ah OK. Seems wierd only to display it that way, and even more wierd I couldn't get it back in eveb when i coded the steering wheel and multi stage. Will try again and see if it works. I don't need as don't have heated wheel, but just bugged me as it was there and then went.

Heated Seats Retrofit
It's a baffle to me. I'm guessing will just have to wait for my heated pads to arrive. Then I can plug them in and see if they work. Of they do then i just have to get thek installed. As mentioned, the sync now seems to be working fine, it's just the infotainment no longer displays the heated seat level. One person has suggested this only shows when coded with a heated wheel. With regards to the unit, they both have the same SW number

How To: Retrofit a heated steering wheel to a mk3 Octavia
This is a great write. Will consider this in the future. Just installing heated seats in my Vrs at the moment. Random question, the display you get on the infotainment showing the seat heating level and steering wheel level. Did it display the heated seat level before you installed the wheel. Just asking as, I installed my new Control panel and originally had them come up, but now they have gone again and I don't know of it's just cos I clicked heated wheel not installed. I've coded both ways with no change. Can't seem to get it to display anymore. The normal heated seat buttons light up fine, just not on the infotainment screen

Heated Seats Retrofit
OK so today i installed the wiring and control panel. I am still waiting for the seats pads to arrive. Once I installed the new control panel with heated seats buttons, I tested the buttons and they lit up as expected and displayed the seat levels on the infotainment display. There was also an option for heated steering wheel. I noticed that the sync buttom my new panel seemed to be operating like a left hand drive (passenger one controlled both dials). I assume my unit was from LHD. I changed the setting to RHD, but didn't do anything. Randomly I plugged the old unit back in and coded RHD again, then plugged the new one in and it seemed to solve the issue. Don't ask me how?. The problem I have now is, after the sync started working the heated seat level no longer displays in the infotainment screen. Any ideas?

Heated Seats Retrofit
Hi Jack, Thanks for the reply. You are the first person to actually offer some support. I have considered buying replacement seats and then selling mine but there just aren't any decent ones around, and they seem to be about 400-600 quid even with damage or holes in. Plus most are leather and from all the pictures I've seen the skoda leather is not very good and sags quickly to loks terrible compared to the leather seats. I have the basic fabric ones with the diamond sitch, and alcantara side bolsters, but they are mint so decided to give the pads a go as they are about £85 a seat. I have read every thread I can on them, but most are for Mk2 which seems different, especially as it has cecm over bcm, plus it has connections to control unit and I don't think Mk3 needs that. The best thread I can find and is very detailed is on the Seat forum, but it seems to have all the same wiring. https://www.seatcupra.net/forums/resources/retrofit-heated-seats-a-complete-how-to.22/ I have the kufatec loom https://www.kufatec.com/en/skoda/octavia/octavia-5e/seat-heating-cable-set-for-skoda-octavia-5e-43340 And the seat looms from kufatec https://www.kufatec.com/en/skoda/octavia/octavia-5e/cable-set-seat-heating-heating-mats-for-skoda-octavia-5e-49047 With regards to the control unit under the seat, i have not seen this mentioned by anyone in a. Mk3 install, but some of them were replacing seats, so i am not sure sure this is needed or not, and if so where to get one. When I contacted kufatec, they only mentioned the looms above and a coding dongle. I must admit it is not a job a am looking forward to but is the cheapest way for me to get oem heated seats.

Heated Seats Retrofit
Hi guys, Been reading this thread, and got to say it's great to seen people helping each other out. It's threads like these that encourage me to give things a go. Sadly the forum has not been much help for me so far when it comes to responses. I have a 2017 Octavia Vrs Fl. I have ordered the kufatec looms and skoda seat pads with heated seat control panel. I am very nervous to try this, both for taking the seat covers off and even more so the wiring. I would be very grateful of some help when I start this, especially if anyone has any pics of wire routes etc. I need my car on a daily basis for school runs etc so can't have it apart for ages. Would i be best taking the seats out one at a time and fitting pads first then doing wiring last? Is it necessary for the seats to be out to run the wires? Kind regards Stuart

Urgent help needed!!!
Sadly the saga continues. Having had the resistor replaced everything worked fine for a bit, had the Bluetooth drop out a few times though. Sadly a couple of days ago the screen went into a reboot and got stuck in a reboot loop. (All without me doing anything) It took a few attempts to restart with forced reset but now the display has gone black again and the media unit seems to have lost all power so wont come on at all. My friend took another look and added a second resistor as it looked like there may have been two missing not just one. This got power back to the unit and the lights in the memory card slots illuminated, however the screen still won't fire up. As far as my friend can tell the damage I caused with the keys has been rectified, but the unit is still not working. As a last ditch effort I have today tried to disconnect the battery in hope it would reset something but no luck. I did however notice that one of the fault codes has now changed from U006500 - Veh communication Bus E, performance intermittent. This has now gone and shows U105400 - information electronics control module 1, no communication. Static. Any help would be appreciated. A full scan is attached. For info since it went wrong I also have error code U007200. Communication Bus E - shorted to Bus E + static. NO IDEA WHAT THIS RELATES TOO. The Lower Grille.................
The lower grill.just clips off with plastic lugs Remove the number plate, then start as one of the sides, that will pop out the top and side. Then work your way very slowly along the top. There is a bug every 3 inches or so. Once the tops are out. Go to the bottom at one side, gently pry the bottom one out then you can slowly work along the bottom lugs and remove it. It is easy to scratch the bumper so may be worth running some masking tape first to protect it from your trim tools. Took me about 5-10 minutes to get it off as it's quite stiff and stubborn

I’ve just noticed this
Is there a way to get the road name displayed while the engine is on, rather than the driving mode?
-
Displaying Road Name at top of Infotainment
Would love to have it display road name, of anyone figures this out please update
-
Change screen to show street name rather than mode
Did anyone find a solution to this, as I would very much like to have it display the road name I am on.

Octavia 3 heated seats Retrofit
Hi, I am looking to do this at some point in the near future I am just trying to establish exactly what I need. I have a 2017 Vrs 230 Fl hatchback I have already purchased the control panel 5E0907044AQ / KL1335 I have been looking on Skoda parts and believe I need the following heated seat pads (I have fabric vrs seats) 5E0 963 555J X 2 - SEAT BASE 5E0 963 557AB - BACKREST The issue I have is the website shows these fit an Octavia 3, however when I enter my vin it says doesn't fit. I am not sure if that is just because they were not a selected option on my actual vehicle when new. The main question I have, is what exact Kufatec loom(s) do I need. Is it the ones shown below? Any help or instructions will be much appreciated, especially with connecting it all. I have read all the threads I can find but they are not detailed enough or have adaptions like the old vw look etc. Thanks in advance Stuart

Urgent help needed!!!
Hi, Thanks for the replies. I haven't been getting notifications so didn't know I had any. Sadly I had damaged the circuit board as suspected knocking off a resistor. Thankfully a friend has managed to solder a new one in place so all is working again. I didn't use the same keys on my wife's as I managed to get the right ones. Almost a very expensive mistake.

Door trim removal. - Ambient lighting
Ah OK. I thought they looked quite secure. Will scrap that idea then. If I get brave enough in the future may try it in situ or just take the door panel off
