  1. you have to order by which sensor is fitted, brown or black plug determines the rack manufacturer, but physical check is needed as 2 types could have been fitted at the factory. I have used these guys before and cannot fault the service. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/323949379239?fits=Cars+Year%3A2010|Model%3AFabia&hash=item4b6ce33ea7:g:r4gAAOSwRfxb7tR9
  2. Out of interest, check fuse 26 as well.
  3. bcm module clips into the holder and when released it drops down, but does not hang to low with all the wiring still connected. It would be easier initially to see if there is 12v at the motor when the switch / stalk is on do the wipers go when using the screen washers ? What year is the Fabia ?
  4. believe me it is / was not important at all and was the last thing on my mind as are you.................but was just a bonus when I read your reply after your verbal attack (again)..........but to be fair, it was kind of expected as you hate anyone disagreeing with your view (which you will disagree with) Overall to be honest I don't think I have ever called anyone a name / criticised their life etc on a forum ever, whether or not I agree with them, I hope I show more respect than that...... it's playground stuff...... but sadly it seems it's quite common practice and accepted here and the fact someone actually likes your post shows the mentallity. I simply disagreed with your statement...............that WAS IT...... But hey I really don't give a flying f**k about you or your opinion and life goes on,
  5. ffs..........I never attacked you..............that's what you just did......... I made a post ref your statement that ignoring spark plug torques is the same as ignoring the ingredients of a cooking recipe..............."imo" it isn't and we are entitled to our opinions are we not........ ? Your the first to call out people on all sorts, so don't play the victim now because someone disagree's with you. I do have a happy life thanks very much, even more so now I know I got up your nose....... and for the record before this turns into the usual Briskoda keyboard warrior bout.... I did NOT say spark plugs were safety critical, BUT you have to be careful "Imo" advising people over the internet to not worry about torque figures, yes you may have experience, but it's like teaching..... start with the rights and wrongs and let them gain their experience, you simply don't know what next item they will "just nip up". If you think I'm wrong, then fine thats what discussions boards are for, but don't say I attacked you when I didn't.
  6. yes ignoring torque figures is great with "experience"........ causes HGV wheels to come loose and fall off !!........... ingredients in a recipe wrong just make it taste ****e............torque figures wrong can cause issues with all sorts..............the whole point of "not being to tight" is why there is torque figure in the first place..................not the same principle at all
  7. not really, the figure is there for a reason, would it be ok "probably", is it ideal......not really.
  8. I can honestly say that over the years I have been driving / owning and fixing said cars including, volvo, vauxhall, peugeot, Alfa Romeo, ford, Audi , Skoda, Bmw, VW , land rover I have never had a dealer "reluctant" to order a part. Infact I would say I have built good relationships over the years with dealers and they are always happy to help, some especially my local Land Rover dealer used to order parts so we could have a look physically as the parts catologue was not always clear with no pressure to buy if it was not right. "your" the customer, if it's available, they should order, take your money and be done with it, if not go to another dealer imo. Personally I would never be fobbed off with an alternative to anything. If thats the experience you have had, I feel for you or any other customers.
  9. You say you have had nightbreakers before but had to keep changing them ? I personally cannot comment on them for performance or reliability as I have never used them. This is what I use in my Fabia vRS and also had them in my Land Rover (used to be called extreme power) https://www.philips.co.uk/c-p/12972XVB1/x-tremevision-car-headlight-bulb Cost to set headlights ?, no idea to be fair, your headlights "should" be set as to be legal and not affect other road users "now" hence you have an MOT. The problem stems from the fact there is a large "window" as to where the headlights can be set that will pass an MOT......BUT thats not always the best setting for being legal and having better performance. Headlight range can be from 0.5 to 2.75% below the horizontal, mine where at 1.5, brought them up to the max of 0.5% and the difference at night was to be fair like I had spotlights on as well. I set these myself as I have access to an MOT garage and equipment, but any MOT station should allow you to check them for small fee I would hope and may even help adjust, it will be certainly cheaper than a cheap HID kit thats for sure. If you decide to fit "better" bulbs, you may find the improvement of just the new bulbs is enough to satisfy you for now and then at your next MOT have a word when it's time to get on the beam setter and have a go then. Attached is the "window" of where your lights can be, you will see a headlight set at 2.75% will be so much closer to the car and not give very good distant vision, compound that with a standard old halogen bulb and the performance will be quite poor.
  10. I agree that the headlights are not on par with modern ones, LED or HID, but your comparing old tech, I to felt something had to be done.......so As i have already mentioned and will try once more, some decent bulbs, headlights set properly and you WILL see a massive difference to the point your most likely be happy and don't need to waste money on cheap chinese HID kits that will most likely not even fit the headlamps properly, throw up dash errors and be a pain at MOT time. Choice is yours in the end, but you have already mentioned you want a sub £100 kit, remember buy cheap buy twice. And the "other" owners are saying their comments from the drivers point of view, it's easy to throw a **** load of light onto the road, great but what about everyone else coming towards you !! looking at your un-focused search lights!!
  11. why would a dealer be reluctant to order a part ?? PS this is why the Fabia II HAS a locking cap as there is no central locking on the flap.
  12. this is where you need to understand the difference....................the black headlights play no part, thats not the lens, they are projector headlights, the circular lens is the reflective part / whats produces the light Put some decent bulbs in, take it to an MOT garage and get the headlights set correctly (not just legal, but set well) and all will be good....................and legal.............................and not annoy everyone else on the road. I use the philips extreme bulbs, been in for over 4 years + to date (will probably blow next week now !! )
  13. I fitted an amundsen first which was great and was plug and play, but later updated to a colmumbus unit I got at the right price as it was also DAB. I have messed with endless settings for the sound and for me I think the Amundsen sounded far better in the Fabia to the point I am thinking of going back.
  14. personally I would not rely on the fuel flap as an anti theft device, far to easy to lever open............so for me go to the dealer and buy a new proper cap which would also have the lanyard fitted which is there to prevent exactly whats happened to you.
  15. I think you should keep your Fabia, get together with the rest of the Londoners who are retrospectivly affected by Mr Khans money making schemes and all go tell him to get f*****d. !!!! On a side note, a full service history is a good start. The 1.2tsi is ok and they do go well for a small engine. there were some issues with timing chains I think on some cars, not sure of the years affected, I think the later ones were ok.
  16. in fairness there should be no need to change anything, you have simply replaced the rack. as far as I'm aware there is no electronics "in the rack" that can be set / adjusted with VCDS What you will probably find is that the "new" rack has no play at all in any joints where as your old one was probably pretty worn so "felt" easier. I would be tempted to drive it for a few hundred miles before doing anything else, it may well "loosen up"
  17. heres the "key" wording... Vehicles first used on or after 1 January 1971 must have 2 stop lamps, one on each side. Additional stop lamps, over and above the obligatory requirements, must be tested. However, if you are not sure that they’re connected, you should give the benefit of the doubt. So it looks like it can pass without it no issues.
  18. Not quite correct buddy, it has to have 50% working in a multi bulb or LED setup, does not matter which / what they are.
  19. if it's fitted as a stop lamp, it must be checked and must be working + it's part of european type approval to have a high level brake light and has been for many many years. not that your bothered, but it "should" have failed. The MOT tester needs a little educating.
  20. The swing unit itself does not have bluetooth, thats the phone prep module which is seperate giving that function, but its just for the phone prep. to connect your phone, use a cable, select AUX on the stereo and then plug your phone in via the jack in the centre console OR if you have it, the MDI interface below the glove box.
  21. Ain't that the truth!!!!....................cheap skate manufacturers !!!
