  1. Even if you had a wiring diagram, as Wino said fixing any broken wires would have been the ideal way to check it first, but heres the diagram you requested. PS for me, if there is several broken wires (and I am fully equiped to do repairs), even so I would fit a new loom as opposed to repairs, but thats just personal choice Note your lock works with the key because thats a mechanical linkage, looking at the diagram, Blue / Yellow trace wire looks like the guilty one as thats the output to each motor, but I suppose the door contact switch feed T73/19 (brown / yellow trace ) could also cause the issue as it might think the door is open
  2. my concern with those instructions is there is NO mention of any Skoda vehicles, let alone the Fabia. The BCM's "maybe" the same, but will need to look carefully through the wiring diagrams to confirm. Can you not ask the seller for Fabia instructions ?
  3. if no one makes an aftermarket one, there is usually a very good reason why....... Have you tried a local kwik fit, Halfords or National tyres etc ? You might have to get a dealer part, be pricey, but will also be better than that abortion you currently have now. It won't fail an MOT unless its excessively leaking / noisy. EDIT EDIT EDIT :- after looking at parts catologue.. Now I see why as it's all part of the particulate filter / cat, knew there would be a reason. So you have 2 choices, go to the dealer and bend over for the large pole with wallet in hand OR which might still be as pricey get a custom exhaust manufacturer to make something to fit to yours OR try here to get one of suitable size and get it welded back into your exhaust. http://www.exhaustdirect24.co.uk/Flex Pipes-Universal,4736.html EDIT another here :- http://www.eurocats.co.uk/products/flexible-couplings/
  4. No need for apology, It just felt like an abrupt response when people had been helping you, hence my message, if you had said what you did above, then all would be rosy 🙂
  5. you can get bluetooth with factory stereos etc etc, but you have gone down the after market route now, I hope it works out for you.
  6. That adapter does "look" like it will do the job, it seems to basically connect / convert the VAG quad lock to standard stereo connection plugs. You should know if it works pretty quickly by simply trying it.
  7. Don't look a lot wrong at all to me............is there a "drip" on the drive, you could even put a carboard box under it when you park it overnight, if you have a leaking sump gasket the cardboard won't lie.............if nothing is there then dont worry about it "imo", the little bit on the sump plug could be just from the oil change (oil looks very new) "if" the seller did one before you collected it. The level sensor "may" have a weep from its gasket, but nothing to worry about "imo".
  8. so have you already replaced the Radio ??
  9. Agreed, but both replies were in keeping with the topic. I think the internet comment was referring to the garage owner who already sounds "evasive" because any garage worth visiting would have a rough cost of that job. My post was ref the cost of the cylinders, which is what he asked. If ANY garage cannot give you a break down of the costs involved for any work, then WALK AWAY and go elsewhere, there is NO excuse as to why they can't do that.
  10. not goona brake the bank https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313&_nkw=6Q0611053B&_sacat=0
  11. on the first module, it says "accepted the login", is it not supposed to say "coding accepted" when re-coding.
  12. Well spotted, on the later vehicles like mine its still a 15amp fuse / feed............wonder if its a typo... ?? strange to have a 5 amp fuse on a 1.5mm² wire. Op needs to check fusebox
  13. The high beam feed may need to be swapped at the headlight plug to feed the additional bulb as opposed to the shutter, would make sense for manufacture if the pin outs were the same..............But I'll check wiring........ Look VERY similar, not sure if the relay feed plays a part in the high beam through the onboard supply unit, I don't think it does as it just looks like its tapped off the main loom, but could be wrong. Projector Bi-halogen is first piccy. EDIT EDIT EDIT ----------- Wiring diagrams were for my car which is a 2013 as it autoloads,I have re-attached 2008 diagrams..............Bi-Halogen (projector) shows L/H headlamp. Unfortunately VW could not afford colour in the early wiring diagrams My apologies
  14. If you listen here to my video, you will see the striking resemblence to the "knocking" when my pump spins, add that to the engine noise and magnify it by the belts, it's highly likely yours IS the water pump "imo"
  15. This is the problem in the automotive world. Can you imagine even just by your list for this one part how many factories there would be making just this one part x that by all other parts. NONE of the above are the original manufacturer, that is a company called Litens, which you will ONLY get if you buy through the dealer as a genuine part.
  16. 58 plate is pre-facelift, so different grille to later black ones. There was not a black grille for the pre-facelift cars, so its paint or wrap i'm afraid Stereo yes, just need double din adapter if yours is a single din fitment.
  17. It all depends on what you class as expensive, and who's doing it. I have seen one post that says the job was done in under 2 hours................don't believe it for a mintue having just done mine AND most importantly off all, it really depends on the parts used. You can get a water pump for about £90..............how good will it be and how long will it last is a lottery "imo". I just done mine with ALL genuine parts and the water pump alone is £240 approx (retail), it's pricey, but I want it to last, had to much experience over the years of cheap parts failing and having to do the job twice, can be less hassle if your doing it yourself and like me the car is not a daily driver, but if it is and it needs a garage.....then having a pattern part fail can be a nightmare..............and it DOES happen................. I rest my case I replaced :- Aux Belt Super charger belt Main Aux belt tensioner Water pump Water pump / super charger tensioner Coolant. Overall the parts with the discount the local VW dealer kindly gave me, was about £360 inc vat. Labour was a good few hours, would be quicker next time and is def quicker putting back as you know the pitfalls etc, but I would expect any garage to charge 4 - 6 hours labour minimum, more so a dealer for sure. If less is quoted then they know some superb shortcuts or they have not done it before and dont know whats involved. If I had to give it a spanner rating out of 5 for difficulty (like old haynes manual), I would say 4 or 4/12 and if you have "limited" tools / tool kit, then forget it. There is some specific lock pins for the tensioners, you can buy them, use drill bits or as I did make my own, and then there is a cranked / bent 16mm spanner for releasing the tensioners, did not buy that as I used a crowsfoot as I have a good tool kit., I am just trying to show the big picture because doing this DIY will not be for all. When done, the engine is a LOT quieter with all the new parts (especially water pump obviously), just goes to show it was getting noisy / wearing over time until you notice it one day. The little 1.4 should be very quiet when idling.
  18. Having noticed similar a while back and to be honest did not think much to it, it then developed into a more metaillic noise over time......after stripping it down to investigate , it was clear the culprit was the water pump.
  19. Exactly, it's like a review on anything, it's down to the reviewer on the day, the situation etc etc, lets face it ALL tyre tests are usually conducted on the same car, but some may be better on a different cars, It's all personal choice. PS I have had 40k out of a set of michelin sports on a Vectra GSi many moons ago, tyre wear is down to rubber compound and in a nutshell how you drive it. I won't even do 45k in my car whilst I own it, so will have no idea how long they will last, all I can say is they are better than the continentals and Goodyears I did have.
  20. Quite a few BCM's on ebay
  21. Michelin comes out top, no surprise there.............. it just shows you get what you pay for. Not an all season tyre, but the Pilot sport 4's I have fitted knock the socks of both the Continentals and Goodyears I had previosuly fitted, don't regret spending the extra on the Michelins at all.
  22. I gather by your post you like Vredestien tyres or you work for em..................😁
  23. just to clear things up, the projectors ARE halogen lamps as well, it's purely how the light source is focused. "normal" headlamps should work fine on your car. Out of interest what "better" bulbs did you try ? Also, I found the biggest difference came from setting the headlamps correctly on a beam setter.
