  1. Do all the Oct 3's come with a mini Ice scraper in the fuel filler or was it just certain models - my 2015 Scout did
  2. Are they VAG group plugs or have any VAG group logos? Where do the rest of the wires appear to go and how many wires? Any signs of it previously having a towbar (cutout under bumper), marks in middle of bumbper etc?
  3. Hi, you've mentioned a few times of rough / bad roads - Just how rough and bad? Could the car not be suited to your requirements. Having had the (misfortune) to have a Megane as a company car for nearly 3 years and owning an Octavia Scout, i way preferred the Octavia by a country mile. Far more comfier and nicer to drive (for me). I never had an issue with the rain sensors, i found them to be very good and like the fact you can easily adjust the sensitivity from the wiper stalk whereas other manufacturers such as MINI you have to go into an overly complicated menu on the trip computer to change. No issue with aerodynamics either, even at speed it was fine, yes if you drop a rear window at 70mph it will sound horrific, but thats the same with the majority of cars - maybe get some window deflectors as this may help (to a degree). Just counting the last 4 cars I have owned, all needed new batteries within 6 years, my last Oct 3 Scout only lasted 4 years. You shouldn't need new shocks at 88k, has anyone inspected them thoroughly to check for misting, leaks etc? Have you done a bounce test and pressed down hard on wing to see how many times the car appears to bounce before it settles? If they are that shafted then id be looking to replace both shocks and springs & bumpstops. Agree with the windows being partially open when shutting doors (certainly on the front), the glass seemed to rattle.
  4. Just as a heads up .... I had a similair sound a few years ago, i thought it was belt as well and booked it in to be done. For some reason with car running i turned actual aircon off and then turned fans completley off inside and noise stopped away. Turned fans on (but aircon off) and noise came back but not as loud, then turned aircon on and noise got louder .... Very similar wiring / belt driving sound to yours. Having worked out it was aircon pump within a week the aircon pump failed. Worth a check / test.
  5. Do you always use V Power diesel then ..... I' not convinced putting occasional tanks in really sees the benefit. I started using it a few years ago in a petrol car, maybe noticed a minor difference but not so much as to warrant the extra cost so went back to standard Shell petrol in the end. On the diesel however i never personally noticed any difference - having brought my Oct 3 and ran normal Shell diesel for 6 or 7 tanks and then going V Power diesel for around 10 tanks is succession i dont recall seeing anything noticeable at the trip computer ... Added to that the mpg diving when doing regens I think that added to me giving it up as it felt like throwing money away I always used to use shell but I dont like the new points scheme so now just use Asda diesel. Good that the fault code hasnt come back and maybe some more decent runs will keep it at bay
  6. If it suddenly moved a bit left then i'd suggest you've hit a pot hole or similair. Doubt tyre wear is a cause, on my old Oct 2 wheel was slightly to right when i purchased it (used), seemed to drive fine. Had 4 new tyres as they needed replacing and wheel still to right. I was always going to get tracking done but at a different garage ... once tracking had been done wheel was straight. I did have tracking done on another car previously and the wheel wasnt straight when they set it up so leaving the garage it was at an angle slightly. Took it straight back and they rectified.
  7. I had KESSY and similair issues, always used Duracell, some lasted around 2 months, others nearer to 8 months.
  8. Could it be an issue with one of the sensors either front or rear that detect weight in car / inclanation? My wifes old cooper S had Xenons that self tested fine on start up and no dash errors but she used to get flashed occasionally and when driving the beam seemed a little high from time to time. I looked at front sensor and you could tell it appeared crudded / slightly corroded. A few days later the bar snapped. I replaced the entire sensor and it was fine after that.
  9. Mine was a 2015 Scout and from when I brought it at 75k (ish) miles i would say: - Some movement in the stick (it wiggled a little bit) - A bit stiff/notchy 1-2 when cold - not aware it did it when warm. I found for the first 2 mins of gear change when cold if i changed gear a bit more slowly it was fine. I accepted this as your not supposed to drive cars hard when cold so it sort of went hand in hand and was a reminder to be a bit less eager. How many miles is yours on?
  10. I think thats the best option, track and trace
  11. +1 for Osram although buy from reputable company as I've heard there are fakes about and its hard to tell them apart apparently.
  12. So the Skoda seat has 3 plugs? Is it possible to follow the wiring at all on old seat, see what it connects to, identify the wire colours on the plugs, do same on Audi seat then buy the correct plug and change the wires over? I dont know the answer but just thinking about it now: 2 wires footwell lamp 2 wires base heated Seat 2 wires backrest heated seat 2 wires sensor to detect someones sat in seat 2 wires airbag That would leave 1 unknown
  13. Do you want switched or none switched. I ran mine permanently on so that if anything happened whilst i wasnt there that it might pick it up. I never had issues with battery going flat. Additionally mine was hidden away behind a piece of vinyl that I applied to the inside of the window so not obvious from outside
  14. Did you take any pics? do the plugs physically fit each other but wiring is wrong or are plugs completley different? It maybe worth looking at Kufatec or ebay ... there are retrofit harnesses available but unsure you will find one direct plug and play. It maybe a case of getting relevant plug and unpicking the wires and putting them in correct plug terminal. How many wires are going into the plug on the car and how many wires are on the plug on the seat? Same number or different amount. Without Electric seats there will be at a guess 2 wires for seat heating, 2 wires for the sensor that detects someones sat in the seat, rear footwell lighting. I havent got the answer, just trying to pint in right direction
  15. My old Octavia Scout on winter rims/tyres. Its was actually very dirty .... But hard to tell on Denim metallic.
  16. I had a manual Scout for 2 years and it was a great car other than it started to use coolant and there was no evidence of external loss, nothing in oil and no coolant smell. The dust cover / guards behind the brake disc have a tendancy to rust and snap off (or in my case partially come off on one side and get stuck against wheel so had to rip it off by the side of the road). Nothing major but to replace you need to remove discs and pads. Something common to the Oct 3, not just the Scout. I'm personally wary of buying used cars with factory or pre fitted towbars in case the car has done a lot of towing in its previous life .... I think more along the lines of baggy rear suspension etc As above check for Haldex service - My old Scout was owned by a company and had full Skoda history and every single receipt including tyres, wiper blades etc but when I brought at 75k and 4 year old it hadnt had Haldex service done so i got it done soon after purchase. additionally both my Oct 2 Scouts hadnt had Haldex service either at similair age or mileage ... its often over looked. Heres a link to the 2015 brochure which gives you an idea of spec and options Oct 3 2015 brochure up to when it was facelifted some time early (ish) 2017. And if you want some nice summer wheels I have some Nivalis alloys sat in my garage that need a new home!
  17. Just confirming this is a VRS so it has factory Xenons as standard? I only ask as the bulb is a D3s and as far as I know theres only one D3s bulb so should have been easy enough to source. What brand bulb did you buy, what dashboard warning are you getting and what fault codes are you getting
  18. Apart from the fact you then know the cars been over fuelling to get more heat into the DPF .... That used to really irritate me.
  19. Its the mode button that sits in the bank of switches in front of gear lever. By pressing it you get the Normal / Sport / Eco options but there is also an Offroad option. Mine was 2015 and had it. When pressing it you get hill decent control, it limits revs when going up hill, the ABS slows down (ie it allows the wheels to lock up a bit longer) and i thought it did do something to the AWD. In normal mode i think the power is split 95% front an 5% rear but in off road i thought it locked it closer to 50 / 50. Additionally it only works up to a set speed something like 23mph. Edit ... What hes posted above whilst i typed my response
  20. I brought an Apeman Dash Cam from Amazon and it should arrive today, currently £39.99 - i had an older version of this previously which i thought was great for the money but somehow when i changed cars I misplaced it.
  21. Yes deleted as this was on My Oct 2 that had adaptive Xenons, unsure if the Oct 3 are adaptive or not.
  22. Rather than me saying it, i have taken this from Hellas website - 'Today, almost all the vehicles fitted with xenon headlights are equipped with dynamic headlamp levelling systems which also react to driving-related changes in inclination, such as acceleration and braking' Additionally, but not from Hellas site Most adaptive headlight setups also include a self-levelling system. This system helps prevent headlights from pointing too far up or too far down when driving up or down hills. A self-levelling system includes a level sensor that sends information to the ECU about the vehicle’s position, specifically whether it is tilted forward or backwards. The headlights are then moved up or down to correct for the vehicle’s positionin @Langers2k interesting data mate , i did love the adaptive lights on my Oct2 esp cornering when the beams turned I followed a BM down the motorway last year in the early hours that had a Matrix style system and even following you could see that LEDS were being turned on and off (the beam pattern was changing on the embankment / central reservation) as it was passing other cars so as not to blind them.
  23. I think the Scout was fairly popular in Germany, either that or look at the Passat Alltrack
  24. It does it automatically based on data / readings from 2 sensors, one at the front normally on one of the arms and one on the and rear beam or similar. As you travel up a hill it lowers the beam / aim to stop dazzling oncoming traffic and when you travel down a hill it lifts the beam so you can see where you are going. It also comes into play with additional loads in the car or towing. Some systems like the Skoda Octavia are quite subtle whereas others like my Wifes old Cooper S it was really noticeable. So whys it there - my guess, Xenons / LED that are malaligned etc can dazzle and are very distracting. A lot of people wont use the manual adjuster so with it taken out the mix and an automated system in place there is nothing to worry about.
  25. I had a 2016 Scout and loved it. I used the off road mode a number of times in snow and found it to be more capable than I thought. I particularly like the hill climb / decent feature that holds the revs and maintains speed.
